Basic, average fish and chips, good - nothing exciting or over the top. No malt vinegar given with a $65 to-go order (BUMMER!). Tempura shrimp and zucchini were okay. I DO NOT recommend the clam chowder. It was gross. The owner was nice.

The crispiest and juiciest fish fry! At such an affordable price that you can't find nowadays with inflation.I love supporting local mom and pops shops. You really feel the love they put into their food and they really like to feed you well.Seafood Combo 5/5*They really pile it on! Fish, prawns, calamari, scallops, clams, and fries mountain high. I'm surprised they didn't topple all over when we carried it to the table. The batter was light and crispy and had those nice flaky edges that you get when they flash fry. Great batter to seafood ratios. The fries are crinkle cut, which was fine because they were fried to perfection - crunchy outside, fluffy inside.Catfish Strips 5/5*The strips were pretty thick and again juicy inside. This is a bit fishier flavor that you get with catfish, so if you like plain flavors, go for the regular fish and chips. This is a no frills shop. It's small with pretty basic seating inside. You order and pickup your food from the counter. Parking is tough though. Only two spots on the side of the building and street parking.

This is such a tiny little spot, but it's so good! We always see the same guy at the counter taking orders and he's such a nice older gentleman. The food is fresh and delicious, portions are great. VERY affordable, too!

Mom and pops restaurant. They're quick and the food is good. They charge for extra tarter sauce which turned me off a bit. I never understood the need to charge for sauce at any establishment.

UYE on a Wednesday in May 2022 with Michael W., David and Eva.Walked in to find indoor dining is not happening. Considered what to do, then decided to order and take it to McKinley Park to enjoy. Closes pretty early at 7pm. Family-owned spot by Asian owners for quite some time I read. I came here a couple times in my years in Sac. I heard a year ago they suffered through some vandalism so I chose it to support them and the food pics/value fit the bill. I ordered their Happy combo for $7.99 and a seafood combo for $11.69. Figured for the effort coming here I might as well gtab a bit more. We all left in our cars and met up at McK park to eat. Food was hyper greasy and the oil was a bit stale. Fish, chicken, scallops, clam strips, shrimp in the 2 combos. The chicken was the worst of the lot. Dry and tiny. Rest was ok. The fish granted was a good size. Filling but not amazing by any means. The 4 of us had nice convo on an amazing May day around a rose garden and a huge park sitting basically wherever we desired. Peeps playing basketball nearby and a volleyball court too. H Salt is more hyped than the pics. I do wish the best for a hardworking small business nonetheless but will visit only if nearby in the downtown area. Not as likely as before as our downtown, like many large metro US cities have become violent, homeless saturated and recently (stated on the news as "not safe").

I got the regular three-piece fish and chips combo--I think it's cod--and a piece of catfish to try. The fish was flakey, crispy, lightly battered, and perfectly seasoned. I really like how they ask you if you want salt on it. Some places don't season it at all. I like the catfish a little bit more. It had more of a bite. The only downside is it's a tad too greasy for me. You can see the grease fall off the fish. The best fish and chips I ever had is really light and it doesn't make you feel like shit. But, at the same time, it was really flavorful and worth the price. It's only about $10 for 3 pieces. That's a cheap meal that can feed 2 people. The fries tasted like normal, consistent frozen fries. I also got onion rings to try. It had light and crispy batter. You can really taste the onion, it's not frozen. I always get coleslaw at fish & chips spots to cut the greasiness and it's pretty refreshing.H Salt Fish and Chips is a historic, long-running fish and chip spot that serves cheap and delicious food with 50+ years of history in Sacramento. This spot mostly does take out and it's pretty small inside. There's like 3 tables and I sat behind the entrance.
