I had a chance to enjoy lunch at Gursha. I was so surprised that an Ethiopian restaurant had opened up in the North Sacramento Area particularly in Roseville. The last time I ate Ethiopian in Sacramento was at Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant on Fulton Avenue which is a far trek from where I normally stay in Roseville. The interior of the restaurant was clean, well organized and felt comfortably homie. My server was friendly and very informative about what was and wasn't available on the menu. I decided to start with the small order of Vegetarian Sambusa as they had run out of the beef. For my main, I went with the Delish Meat combo and chose spicy beef tibs, upgraded to spicy lamb tibs, gomen and injera. I also ordered the Ethiopian Spiced Iced tea. The tea was refreshing and delicious. Shortly after, the Sambusa appeared hot and crispy. The filling was delish. I sprinkled a bit of berbere spice on them to add a litlle bit of heat. 15 min after finishing my Sambusas, my main came out. The platter had a generous amount of beef, gomen and lamb. I also got a generous basketful of injerta. The spice on the beef and lamb tibs was perfect. The gomen was tender but still green. I ate and ate but was only able to finish half of my plate. The servings are so generous that they would actually feed 2 people which is great as I get to enjoy my leftovers. The next time, I plan on trying out the beef Kitfo. The last time I had Kitfo was in Washington, DC where there's a large population of Ethiopians.Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some delicious Ethiopian food at Gursha. The staff will guide you to ensure you have a wonderful experience.

Hubs wanted to eat in for his birthday. We were treated to the full Gursha experience.Super Vegan combo more than feeds 2. Served with plenty of injera. You can ask for utensils if eating with your fingers isn't your jam. I wanted a spoon to at least fill my injera. I didn't grow up with injera training. We were told by Grace that well behaved dogs were allowed in. Since it was rainy, cold and the hubs birthday we decided to eat in, BUT ordering to go is great. Loved seeing the food served as it should be.I think next time I order in I'll serve it at how just like this.

Big mistake tonight at Gursha. After telling me it would be a long wait for take out, the staffer told me the cooks could prep my meal in 20 minutes. "Are you sure?" I asked. Yes. I should know better than to believe that. Ethiopian cuisine isn't fast and they had a few large groups. While waiting, I wasn't offered anything to drink, not even water. And I was parched. I also hate long waits for food. It's typically the reason why I break down and eat fast food. As an HSP, when I get hungry, it's usually severe. This place let me down. It wasn't just 10 minutes extra, it was 20+10+25 = 55 minutes before I could eat at home. Not good. Please, don't quote a time that is difficult to meet when it comes to a customer who tells you they can't wait. I'm not being a brat. I get fu¢king hungry! The food missed the mark. I feel I need to do two things. One, drive to San Jose and get some really good Ethiopian cuisine. Two, finally practice cooking it myself. It was cooked nicely but the flavor profile was off (spicy lamb tibs and gursha vegan combo - plus greens were too salty). It was great to finally have an opportunity to try beets. Still don't love them but I tolerated them today. I'm glad I finally tried Gursha but it's not my jam.

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and it did not disappoint. The consumption style is very similar to Indian food which made it comforting in a way. The sambusa was a great starter and I'd like to explore the others on the menu. The shiro wat with injera was my favorite of all our entrees. I was excited to try the hibiscus tea, but unfortunately that wasn't quite for my palate as the cloves overtook most of the other flavor. The service is a bit on the slower side as well since this is a family run restaurant, so plan to have some time on your hands.

I found Gursha Ethiopian Cuisine restaurant on Yelp and after reading the raving reviews, we had to give it a try! Since it was our first time here I decided to try the Gursha vegan combo to try a sample of their vegetarian dishes along with the Veggie Sambusa appetizer. The Veggie Sambusa was freshly fried, crisp, and stuffed with brown lentils and onions. There was so much flavor! Our combo included the following: Gomen (Spinach and collard greens), beets and potatoes, kik wot (split peas), cabbage and carrots, and brown lentils. It was served with an super soft Injera. The gomen, split peas and brown lentils were my favorites. They were actually out of the split peas since it was almost closing time but they were gracious enough to make me a fresh batch.I will definitely try their Asa Gulash (fried fish) the next time I'm in the area. The waitress said it was her favorite dish. The restaurant was very spacious and open with plenty of tables. You won't have any problem finding parking here either.

Gursha was an awesome experience. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food. My friend convinced me to give it a try because it's become one of his favorite restaurants. I went in knowing absolutely nothing about it, the style, the food, etc. I certainly wasn't disappointed. What an awesome experience. The food was fantastic and the service was great. We even ended our meal with delicious Ethiopian coffee which was some the yummier coffee I've had in the area. The waitress was great at explaining the culture behind the food and the way of eating and it was definitely a worthwhile adventure. I don't have a lot of experience in what is and isn't delicious Ethiopian cuisine but I can definitely tell you this place was DELICIOUS!

They say we eat with our eyes. In this case I can tell you that the look and the taste is wonderful. As a bonus you can eat with your hands and who doesn't love that? The flavor and the spice level really wakes up your taste buds. Haven't tried Ethiopian food? It's time you should.

Some of the best Ethiopian food I've ever had, from Sacramento to Berkeley. The food is made to order, so it might take a while, but it's worth the wait and let's you have a leisure dining experience with friends or family. The staff is also very nice.We tried the house honey wine, mango juice, and the vegan platter. Honey wine: They said the imported one is sparkling and the house one is not. The house honey wine was excellent. Nice and sweet - if you like mead or moscatos, you will like this. The mango juice was super fresh, medium thick consistency (easy to drink with a straw), and delicious. The vegan platter - I'm still dreaming about it (actually I'm really looking forward to eating my leftovers). There were two of each sub-dish served on top of injera (a spongey fermented bread that you use to pick up your food with your hands), with a berebere paste in the middle, and with a side bowl of additional rolls of injera. The injera was fresh and I wanted to put the paste on everything. Bury me in that paste. The red lentils were relatively spicy, but most everything else was either mild or very lightly spiced. Absolutely flavorful. I've never had what appeared to be potatoes marinated in beet juice. Okay I can't write about this anymore, I'm salivating and must go eat my leftovers immediately bye

In a nutshell; good ethiopian food, was full and still had some food to go. Good price to food ratio. Went on a work day evening, wasn't busy so seated rather quickly though there were a lot of food pick up customers come by. Was greeted by a smile, service was great. Food didn't take too long to get served. Menu had a plethora of choices from meat-included to vegan/vegetarian options. Unfortunately my order had a missing item but I was given an alternative for more of another item and that's always a plus in service and kudos to the staff. Had a lot of injera to boot so really gotten full by the end of it. Food tasted great and presented beautifully. The seats werre comfortable, table wasnt wobbly at all and place is neat and clean. Overall would stop by here again If in the knack for Ethiopian food.
