I recently dined at Grand China with a buddy, and let me tell you--the food was fantastic. The Kung Pao chicken had the perfect kick, the egg rolls were crispy perfection, and the fried rice could have made even Confucius crack a smile. But then... the moment of truth arrived: the fortune cookie. Now, you know that part of the meal when you crack open the fortune cookie and expect some ancient wisdom or winning lottery numbers? Well, we eagerly broke ours open... and both were empty. That's right--no fortune, no wise words, nothing. It seems we were served an "unfortunate cookie."Apparently, fate decided to take a day off, or maybe the fortunes ran out faster than the last egg roll on the table. Either way, it's hard to know where life's taking you when even your cookie is like, "¯_(ツ)_/¯."Would I go back? Absolutely--the food is still solid. But I'll probably bring my own fortune next time... just in case.

Boyfriend has been raving about this spot, and I finally got the chance to try it today! When I tell you this is NOW one of my favorite Chinese American restaurants I have ever been to, it really is! The staff were sweet and casually chat and welcome their customers. I got the sesame chicken and it was sweet, tangy, the teensiest bit spicy and just overall the best. Their lunch special 11-13$) is an insane deal for a great amount of food. It contains an egg roll, wonton cracker, your choice of entree from list, fried rice/white rice, an orange slice, and a side of wonton soup. TRULY IF YOU ARE IN THIS AREA AND WANT A GOOD DEAL AND SOME YUMMY FOOD DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CHECK THEM OUT!

My husband and I were in Placerville last weekend for a dog show and were hungry for some Chinese food after. I quickly checked Yelp and Grand China came highly recommended. We saw that the restaurant was out of the way in a quiet area of Placerville. As it was the Memorial Day weekend, we did not want to go anywhere near downtown. So this worked out great for us. Upon arrival, we were only one of two couples in the restaurant. It was very quiet and peaceful, and the booths were extremely comfortable. Our eyes were drawn to the lunch specials immediately. For only $12 this was a steal, and I was very happy to find that wonton soup was served with our meal! Usually you only get a choice of hot and sour or egg flower soup at other establishments. I chose the shrimp with black bean sauce and my husband chose the Mongolian beef. We also got a combination chow fun to share. Our wonton soups were at our table in no time, and when I say this is one of the best wonton soups I've had at a Chinese-American restaurant, I'm not kidding. The broth was clear while full of flavor, and the wontons themselves were delicious and the skins were not overcooked, as can be common. The soups were devoured in minutes. Next, our lunch specials arrived in less than 15 minutes, and we were certainly not ready for the portion sizes at all. While we were hungry, we definitely knew that there would be leftovers for home, especially since we also got a dish to share. All the flavors were on point, and I loved how saucy my black bean shrimp was. I got to try a bit of my husband's Mongolian beef and that was excellent too. The fried rice was your typical flavor, but I would have liked to see more of the "wok hay."We tried the chow fun next and while it was pretty good, I was also expecting a "wok hay" flavor, which I did not taste. I'd like to try some other noodle dishes next time, but this was not my favorite. However, the pieces of meat were huge for what we paid ($12). We ended up bringing a bunch of leftovers home, and I'm quite happy to find this restaurant tucked away in Placerville, where there is a dearth of Asian food. The service was also awesome and very friendly. Our waters were refilled and we were checked on promptly. I'd love to return and try other dishes Grand China has to offer!

Great service. Not a big restaurant but feels nice inside. I had the general Taos chicken lunch plate. Very good quality chicken and the breading was crunchy. I didn't like the heavy amount of sauce. The sauce also tasted very fishy. The sauce definitely ruined it for me. Since the sauce was overflowing and mixed with my chowmein it ruined most of that too. I could only eat about half of the chow mein because the sauce. The lunch special also doesn't come with both rice and chow mein or it's extra so you have to pick one. If you want both I believe it's 3$ extra. The soup was great. The egg roll was great. And the service was great too. Since the quality of chicken was really good and the chow mein was good too I'll go back for sure, just need to make sure I get sauce on the side

Tucked away in a business/retail park on Golden Circle in Placerville's busy Missouri Flat District is this gem of a friendly and clean Chinese American restaurant. We have two or three Chinese restaurants in my town but I drive 8 miles to this place because it is cleaner, friendlier and has great portions and menu options. The proteins are also very generous and good. I think the food is above average Chinese American but it feels less greasy then some Chinese places which makes it a bunch healthier for you. Unless if you eat all the portions they give you here, you might have a bloated stomach. It is popular with the locals because it has been here for years and does pretty well, even though it has no real "busy road frontage". Locals seem to love it. You should give it a try when in the neighborhood.

We came here on a Saturday night at 5:30pm with our friend, Gene. and had no trouble getting seated. this restaurant has friendly service and we like the Decour, especially the large chandelier with the mirror ceiling. We started with the sizzling rice soup. It was pretty tasty. We ordered a small with easily fed the three of us and would've fed four of us.We ordered three dishes for our main course: house special beef, sesame, chicken, happy family. The sesame chicken was made differently than other ones we've had. It was large pieces of fried chicken breasts with a sweet sauce. It reminded us of orange chicken. The chicken breast was tender and moist. Our favorite were the house special beef and the happy family. I always love dishes like the happy family that come with meat and vegetables. The portions are quite large and we had plenty of leftovers!

Once again I give 5 stars to Grand China Chinese Restaurant in Placerville, Ca located at 4340 Golden Center Dr # D, Today my brother and I celebrated his birthday with General Tso's Chicken and my favorite the Sesame Chicken during the lunch specials. Served with Fried Rice, A Fried Wonton, Eggroll and an Orange Wedge also, a cup of Won Ton Soup comes with it. Fantastic Food with the best prices and very generous portions. It is located off of Missouri Flat Rd and situated behind McDonalds. Well worth the visit and easy on the pocketbook. You will love it. Give it a try and say hello to the owner Vince. They open at 11:00 am and closed on Monday's. Yummmm!

I have eaten here for years. The service is just great, the owner and workers are always willing to bend over backwards to make sure you get exactly what you want. They are kind, engaged, I just really enjoy their enthusiasm. As for food: This is the best chinese food in Placerville/D. Springs in my opinion. Also, the resturant is always clean and the decoration is always on point. Full marks. I love going there. I hope it never closes. Oh and as a final note, usually Chinese food soups are kind of a meh thing. The wonton soup here is superior.
