Lived in the area for 15 years and always shopped here. A few years ago they got new owners and it's been downhill ever since. They fired all of their friendly staff or they quit and were replaced by rude people with no customer service skills and some of them barely speak English. On top of that THE PRICES ARE INSANE!! I can get everything cheaper at EVERY OTHER STORE in the area! I'll walk the extra block to Southside Market or Sam's for friendly people, $2-3 off my cigarettes, and cheaper food and drinks. Not to mention it's not even worth buying food there because you have to check the expiration dates on EVERYTHING. I bought a TV dinner from them once that was expired the year prior. EVEN HAPPENED WITH A PEPSI. You can't even trust their hours. Been there 15-20mins before it was supposed to closed to find it already closed multiple times but after what happened today I'm done. Hopefully they sell it to someone else because I'm going to miss that place. RIP INDY IT WAS BETTER WITH YOU.(Photos from Reddit. Today was my last time there after I left because of the cashier but here's your proof. What local convenience store has dedicated Reddit posts about how bad they are? Sad.)

I'll miss you Indi. I hope they paint a big mural of your smiling face on the side of your store.

I shop here often because Gold Star and the AM/PM on 16th Street always has the cheapest deals on beer in the downtown area. The owners are attentive to the needs of their customers. When they were out of Hurricane back in August, they have since made a concerted effort to always keep it in-stock. A 3-pack of 25 oz. Hurricane here is $4.55. There's price tags on the alcohol and, unlike Southside Market, they keep consistent hours and are open on weekends. They also have a small selection of groceries, lotto scratchers, and a frozen beverage machine called Siberian Chill. For its convenient location, good customer service, and inexpensive alcohol, Gold Star earns a five-star rating.

Looks like a great business and location. We love bringing Dippin' Dots ice cream to as many locations like this as possible. I wanted to call but the phone number says it's out of service.

Update time!! Gold Star Market is now under new ownership. Which for this place is a good thing! They have cleared out the old food items and to my surprise they even got rid of the "Jungle Juice" (LOL, $1 wine that looked so old it was probably vinegar!)! Overall they have made some great improvements with the addition of no ATM fee and some actual desirable wines like Boogle. Now do not get me wrong, this is no great market but as a convenient store I can handle coming here for my Jumbo Ranch Sunflower seeds and Slim Jim's (A must need as a state employee!).Side note: they have kept all the various items one would need to smoke on that kinda illegal but for medical purposes green stuff but eh it would not be a corner store without it, Right???

The staff here are very personable and kind. The variety of items you can get in this small place is great. I can buy Kona Red here (Hawaiian Coffee Fruit energy drink) and the only other place that has it in Sacramento is Nugget. They pulled it off the shelf and I asked them why. They told me if I want it they will renew their order. Now they have cases of it! They also have a coffee area and a great variety of ice creams that will get you through many hot Sactown days. This place is very clean, which is always important for me to frequent a place. I know my co-workers are here on breaks everyday and I'm there at least twice a week. So glad this place is here.

Rude staff. No customer concern. Truly unnecessarily rude. I didn't know the previous owner. Wish I did. Lost a good customer.

Lady thought I was trying to steal something when I walked right past her with nothing in my hands and was walking out the door before she stops to ask if I'm holding anything. She may have thought i was stealing because I had a durag on. However that shouldn't mean I'm more prone to stealing. I was looking for an energy drink of a brand they didn't even carry.
