G Street Cafe

This place is amazing! It had been around forever. Something like 40 years and in downtown sacramento this is a big deal. Places close all the time but this place is perfect. The food is super simple and perfect and the prices are what you would think they should be. Tons of officers go here. I'm thinking the buildings around the cafe are law enforcement. You will love it here.

This place is awesome, among overpriced downtown locations, this is a great lunch spot to stop by and pick up a quick filling meal. The owner seems like a great hard working man, very friendly and the staff is accommodating. There's many seats available & the ambiance of professionals chit chatting is a great addition. Would recommend as a lunch spot on a work day!

Amazing food and the best staff ever. I can honestly tell you that the restrooms are the cleanest in the entire state of California. The seating area has options. Inside or outside. No matter what you order, you won't be disappointed. I love the chicken teriyaki plate. The breakfast is amazing as well. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

Plenty of seats and staff was helpful .Sandwiches choices or hot food .I ordered pesto chicken chips and water price was 15.49 .close to courthouse about 8 min walk .Ala carte everything is extra cheese 1.00 etc . But very convenient

I've moved out of the area, but still work close to here so came back recently. I'm glad they made it and survived through the pandemic. This is a great lunch spot and affordable restaurant to eat at. I usually get the chicken teriyaki special, which comes with a side salad. I usually see (who I assume is) the owner grilling chicken almost every morning when I used to walk to work. It smelled good and the chicken gets a nice charbroil taste to it as well. They also serve sandwiches, sushi in to go containers, breakfast items and snacks/sweets. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well. It does get crowded during lunch since county, city and state workers come here during lunch hour. But the line moved fast. I look forward to coming back here.

Had jury service for several days. This place is just around the corner from the courthouse. It's clean, efficient, and good quality food for the price. Both the turkeycado and the superbird were fresh, tasty, and prepared quickly.

I came upon G Street Cafe while being (un)lucky enough to serve on a jury at the nearby courthouse. I ended up coming here twice in one week since it was close and very convenient. The first time I came in I had the Super Bird which came with turkey, bacon, cheese, and all of the fixings. The sandwich was definitely very fresh and the bread was toasted perfectly. There was definitely a little too much mustard in this for me as mustard was definitely getting all over my hands and my face.The second time, I thought I would try a hot dish and opted for the Korean barbecue Bulgogi. The meat was actually very tasty with a very slight sweetness to it, and it was very tender. I do wish I would've asked for my dressing on the side because my salad was drowning in ranch dressing .I do feel like they could do a little more to make it a bit more cozy in the cafe, but I noticed a lot of orders were to-go, so perhaps they just focus on getting people in and out. The staff were very nice and the gentleman made sure to tell me there was an extra $.50 charge if using my debit card , which was fine as I did not have cash on me. Next time I am serving on jury duty, I would probably return for a sandwich and skip the mustard. Decent place though.

The sandwiches and hot meals are all pretty good and reasonably priced. If you are at the courthouse and need a quick lunch this is a decent option. The lunch rush can be pretty busy as the place fills up with jurors and attorneys. Expect a wait if you come during peak hours. Things can also be a bit loud inside during lunch hours but it is fairly quiet the rest of the day.

I come here often for lunch. The other day I ordered pancakes, but not one told me that it would take a long time. I was a bit annoyed about it. The next day I came in for a morning cup of coffee and the owner wanted to make the situation right and offered me free pancakes for lunch. I appreciate a business owner who makes things right, no matter how small the situation.

Haven't eaten here in years, but when I did the portions, were plentiful, and the teriyaki chicken was really good. I'm glad to see it survived the covid shutdown.
