My expectations are pretty low when it comes to casino sushi but I was pleasantly surprised by how good and fresh Fukuro was. I guess the "by Kru" moniker really means something. I've tried the chirashi, spicy liz rolls, hamachi carpaccio, and eel roll and they have all been decent to very good. The chirashi was really surprising with larger than expected pieces of sashimi. The rice was soft and flavorful and they give a special side of garlic wasabi jam that will burn up your sinus in seconds. The rolls are good size, and not skimpy at all. If you are in the 50+ category, the $5 off on Wednesday's Zone 50 special can help put a dent into the typical sushi prices. They aren't priced significantly higher than others but about the same. Service is pretty good they are friendly and kind and surprisingly fast. We were always cooing at how fast the food was ready. I think they are open after 4pm so make sure you check before you try to go there for lunch. Itadakimasu!

The Kru proper is a full five star option. James Beard award winner and deserving of a Michelin star. Bumped across this location by Kru and figured it to be a great option for Kru light. ....not so fast! Not at all deterred by the smoke, the drone of slot machines and a place where smiles were all but absent. Big times at the casino on a Friday night. I was on a quest for sushi that resembled the famed Kru I'm accustomed to. It was a big tucked in the rear where there's a food court. The menu was simple enough and a decidedly light version of the mothership which was absolutely expected. Again the smiles were absent as we ordered. Service with a smile has died here. None the less onward we went. Ordering an array of nigiri and a couple rolls we were familiar with. The Giants were on the television so that was cool. The soy sauce came in packets, the wasabi was very congealed and diners were expected to mix this all in an absurdly small condiment cup. Still my optimism persisted as the Kru proper was so fresh and delicious a dipping sauce is unnecessary. They hollered out my name and we went to gather our treasure with enthusiasm. Visually it all looked familiar save for one piece of the nigiri sampler that was so disfigured it was a pass. Some of the nigiri was repetitive. This never happens at Kru. If you don't have the requisite 7 change it up to 5. I opted to dive in for the Hamachi sans sauce and ...womp womp it was a swing and a miss. The fish lacked the freshness I've come to expect. Oh well time to see what a little soy sauce and wasabi could do. Sadly it wasn't enough to square things up. In addition to the poor excuse for hamachi, there was a mystery piece that was unidentifiable. It was such a ragged and sad piece neither of us were willing to give it the benefit of well placed doubt. The track record was already suffering badly. While the salmon looked fresh it wasn't and was too stringy to eat. It was unceremoniously spit into a napkin. The hamachi scallion and spicy Liz rolls masked the substandard quality of the fish to some degree. Sadly it just wasn't enough. This place is a hard pass for us. I don't understand how Kru can allow this to happen. The "newness" is no longer an excuse, if it ever was. Please do better, I'm a lost customer. For the sake of those dining here in the future you're just too good for this. Yes I understand it's not the mother ship, but it doesn't need to be where the mothership crash landed with no survivors.A generous two stars.

This place is part of the food court at the Sky River Casino. My sister and I prefer vegetarian or vegan foods, but when it comes to fish or seafood we can make an exception. (But for me, it must be cooked)! Fukuro by Kru was kind of a last resort restaurant for us because we couldn't find any place that served vegetarian or gluten free meals. The menu is quite limited here but understandable, because we are located in a casino where patronage can be a more difficult customer attraction. The order taker at the counter was very nice and patient with our decision making. She tried to answer my sister's questions on what ingredients were in their dishes. (She is allergic to gluten and wheat). But she really wasn't knowledgeable enough to help. My sister ordered 2 items: the Shiro Maguro Roll and Eel-avocado. I got the Shrimp Tempura Roll because at least it wasn't raw. Our food was satisfactory, but unfortunately, my sister had a bad feeling and became concerned about what she was eating, and decided to ask the sushi maker directly. That's when he informed her that there is wheat in some of the ingredients used to make the rolls. She had to stop eating her food and continued to be hungry for the rest of the afternoon, until she could get home to eat something that was compatible with her digestive issues. We probably won't be visiting the food court in general any time soon.

First time trying Fukuro by Kru at the Sky River Casino food court. It is probably the most expensive spot in the food court area (the new breakfast place is similar in price) so it tends to be less busy than the other spots.I tried the Spicy B roll which was good. It was a large roll, probably 1-2 more pieces than you find at most places. Price, however, was also similar. If I had a criticism, it was there was too much sauce so the flavor of the ingredients was too covered up particularly once you get most of the way through. Everything just became one note in flavor.I saw several tables ordering the sashimi platters which appeared very generous in size of fish cuts. May need to splurge next time on a chirashi bowl or something.Decent value and taste for what I got. Probably 3-1/2 stars but rounding up.

Highlight to my visit to a bad casino. Fukuoka by Kru is inside Sky River in Elk Grove, and I've been wanting to try it for a while. Finally, I bit the bullet and went for it. The rolls are large, and the presentation is great per the attached photo. I opted for the Spicy Liz, which seems to be a take on the Spicy Tuna roll and the Catepiller roll. The caterpillar roll was great, with lots of flavor, and the sheer size of it was unexpected. The Spicy Liz was equally well done with a sprinkling of thinly sliced onion on top. I like to mix my soy sauce with Wasabi and dip that way. The Wasabi is tasty. Good balance between that Wasabi kick and flavor. They are tucked behind a pizza joint and next to Ocean in the food court. Staff is super friendly and was happy to chat with me about the rolls and sashimi plate they were working on for someone else. I missed the opportunity to grab a photo of it. Maybe if I'm back but again... It is at sky river, so chances of us coming back anytime soon are slim. If you have a little money to spend and want some large portion rolls, I'd say go for it.

I love Kru and was so excited to see Fukuro by Kru in the food court inside of Sky Casino. The menu is limited to rolls, nigiri and few sides. We weren't hungry but curious to try the rolls. We went with "Spicy B", which had shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, cucumbers, avo, seared tuna and microgreens. It had way too much sauce and covered the freshness of the fish and other ingredients. It was also very spicy. If you can't tolerate spicy food, this roll is not for you.

This market place restaurant has not let me down yet. I have tried almost all the rolls on menu then they add more items. I love eating just one roll and then going to the desserts restaurant for a banana split. I will be back to try more.

My hubby and I tried 2 of their rolls, rainbow and spicy liz, plus an order of salmon nigiri. The ingredients were fresh and portioned similarly to a sit-down restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised! The chef and lady who took our order was really nice. We'd definitely come back again for sushi.

This place is awful!!! I love Kru so decided to try this place out and it puts the "Kru" name to shame! The sushi looks and even tastes like it's been sitting there all day. Nothing is fresh! I would never recommend this place to anyone for sushi
