100 years of Folsom High exhibit transported you to the nostalgia of High school days with pictures, sounds, yearbooks andd variety of memorabilia with quotes from former alumni. The permanent exhibit gives the history of Folsom. This was informative from the original indigenous people, gold rush Era, to Intel making its way to the area. Interactive experiences helped engage your experience for both young and mature visitors with photops to make it fun too!Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and shared fun facts. We enjoyed our visit and will be keeping our eye out for the other events and changing exhibits.

Fourth museum on Museum Day Sat 2/4/12. It's about 20 miles from Sacramento. It's not a big museum, basically just a large room that starts on the Right and you go around to read & look at their displays.Stuff about Indians, Chinese history, winery, fruit, Folsom Prison - famous Johnny Cash song "Folsom Prison Blues" - photo op where you can dress up as a prisoner, then open the rest room down and Johnny Cash song plays. Restroom you can use too.Small gift shop on the Left side where the museum part ends. The Pioneer Village up the street & turn Left on Wool Street has a blacksmith shop that volunteers do work in, kids can try to pan for gold, etc.

I love small museums, and this is an excellent one.The exhibits and interpretive displays do a great job of conveying the visitor back in time to the early days of Folsom. There are lots of interesting facts, such as the requirements for Pony Express riders. The rotating exhibits are great, too.Sandra, the charming lady at the admission desk, was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions. We'll return for sure!

this is a nice museum chock full of local history. and folsom has alot of history! started out as a gold rush town, then had the first railroad in the west, not to mention the first powerhouse and folsom prison! go in the bathroom downstairs. its the Johnny Cash room. you're in for a treat. they have a regular display area with folsom history and then another big room that has changing exhibits that are usually community based. last year they did an exhibit on bicycles that was really cool. every year they do a quilt show that brings in people from all other california.they also have Pioneer Village, which used to be known as the Interpretive Center. the village has a blacksmith shop where docents do actually blacksmithing on fridays and weekends. it also has gold panning (where you try your luck) and a railroad museum. all volunteers. love it. this is truely authentic small town effort and proud of it.
