The ongoing roadwork seems to extend the time it takes to come and go from this location. There still seems to be fewer venders during what should be the peak summer season here. Still, there is plenty here that makes it still worth it to brave the traffic annoyances. There are several good regular fruit vendors here! Some sell by the pound, and others sell by the bagful! Sure, the bagged fruits get a little bruised and soft by the end of the morning market. Not a problem if you take them home and stew them in a pot with a little lemon (for the ascorbic acid) for a couple of hours until concentrate down. Once cooled, these can be frozen and used for baking cakes and pies in the future. There's a honey vendor that comes regularly, and a chicken egg vender. Heck, there's even a quail egg vendor, too. During the late fall and early spring, there are mushroom farmers from the foothills that come here. The red oyster mushrooms, I have learned, are quite robust in flavor. This is one of the few year-round farmers markets. They have lovely fresh produce that represents some of the best grown locally. Once of the best things about living in the central valley is having access to fresh fruits and veggies at a good price.

Now that I'm recently retired, I'm able to go to early morning and weekday places whenever I chose! Joe K. asked if I would like to go with him to the Thursday Farmer's Market held at the old Florin Center shopping area parking lot where Sears used to be. Even though it's located in the parking lot, parking is not always that easy to find due to it's popularity, so we found parking spaces a short walking distance in front of stores that are closed that early in the morning. I was quite impressed at the number of vendors present. Each farmer/grower has their own tented area with their prized seasonal fruits and vegetables on display. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful produce available in eye catching colors! I started feeling healthy just standing amidst of it all! Joe's favorite vendor is Juan, who is usually located close to where we entered the market. Juan is very helpful and friendly when it comes to his gardening skills. Prices are amazing and he often lets us have extra items just for being a regular customer! You can't get more fresh and organic than this! I'm looking forward to shopping here again!

The Thursday Farmers Market at Florin Center has become a major part of my life over the last ten plus year. It is a year around market that provides local fruit and produce for all seasons of the year. I tend to favor some of the vendors that I have gotten to know over the years. I guess it is the consistency of knowing what to expect from them that keeps me coming back.I have my apple and pear vendor that also provides some of the sweetest berries in the spring. The vendor I get my fresh almonds from, one that always has the sweetest, most flavorful strawberries. (It is not only important that they are sweet but that they have that wonderful flavor you only get from fresh strawberries.) I have my favorite orange and citrus vendors and ones that peddle some of the most beautiful, fragrant herbs on the planet. My favorite vendor at the farmers market though is Juan. Juan provides me with gorgeous gigantic heads of cabbage in the winter along with broccoli, potatoes, onions and shallots. He also has the most amazing cherries in May and June that are very sweet and have this kind of light cabernet after taste that is addicting.I pretty much live off of Juan's vegetables in the summer. I always look forward to his tomatoes and pickling cucumbers. The tomatoes are so sweet and flavorful that you can eat them all by themselves and don't even get me started on the delicious little pickling cucumbers. I can even eat those as a snack. Add some basil, mint, or cilantro and I am in heaven. Then there is his summer squash. He usually has four to five different varieties to choose from. I usually buy a couple of each and mix them in my squash dishes. I prefer the smaller ones because they tend to be very tender and have the best flavor.I often see fruits and vegetables on sale at the supermarket for less than I can buy them at the farmer's market but I feel it is extremely important to support our local farmers. Not to mention the wonderful flavor and often higher nutritional value you get from the local produce. Then there is the human interaction element that stores are working so hard to take away from us. That might be the best reason of all to support your local farmers market.

This is my favorite local farmer's market! Filled with many vendors offering seasonal fruits and vegetables. There are some others that sell plants, specialty olive oil, and flower bouquets. I would recommend coming here around 10:30-11 AM when you can grab the deals! My favorite deal is when they start bagging up the vegetables and you can buy it for $5 flat. One of the guys will give you an empty bag for $5 and you can choose from his assortment of oranges, apples, and pears and fill up your bag until they no longer fit. We were very happy with our choices of kale, broccoli, oranges, turnips, daikon, and apples. We'll be back next week to replenish our pantry!

This is take place on florin road the same shopping plaza as Sears. There are plenty of parking, and quite a variety of vendors. . Since i missed out on tuesdays farmers market, i was hoping the guy i buy the flowers from was here today. Unfortunately he wasn't there and there was no good flowers at this farmers market. Although i did discover this one vendor that sells some awesome herb plants for only a dollar and up. Take advantage of this farmers market and find those herb plants if your trying to grow your own herbs. . Lots of fruit and veggie vendors. Fruits was pretty cheap such as strawberries, cherries, plums, apricots and etc. For the veggies they had all kind, i picked up some awesome fresh beets and golden beets as well for only $1.25. I am so excited to create some beet tower and etc. . Also i picked up a basket of organic strawberries, where i thought it was expensive, but it is not and i am eating quality over quantity. Just this made me realized why i like farmers market because it is organic and i can taste the difference. . Overall this is a neat farmers market to check out on Thursday. I would start coming here for my veggies and fruits. And pretty soon i will have my own herb garden and this is where i will pick up my own herb plants. Thanks for ready and happy farm to fork!

This farmer's market has very reasonable prices and quite a few kiosks to shop from! The parking lot nearby is a bit of a zoo, but there are spaces and it makes this location easy to access. Today, I got a flat of eggs for $6 and a bunch of summer squash for a few bucks. One place sold 5 ears of corn for $2 and a bunch of radishes for $0.50! I liked that it was mid-week farmer's market. We even got two pork chops for $13 and a bouquet of beautiful flowers for $10!

No artisan stuff, but the prices and produce are where it's at! Things are definitely marked down for this location compared to the weekend or Cesar Chavez markets, so I was quite delighted to see that. Lots of parking, seems like a larger spread of produce, too.
