What a fun annual events for all ages! There is free parking in the nearby lot if you get their early or you can park in the neighborhoods and walk into the park. There is also paid parking ($13) that you have to pre-pay online. Follow the signs for "PRE-PAY" and scan the QR code with the person at the gate. Paying for parking was the way to go, it was a short walk into the event when some of my family members had to park far into the neighborhoods. There are some chicken themed vendors and a few chicken dishes can be found at the food trucks. We witnessed a chicken call contest on stage where the person with the best chicken cluck got a gift card for $25! There seemed to be some chicken themed activities for the kids as well. Country music and hay bales as seats. 2 Beer/Wine gardens to ease you from the heat. I bought a load of jalapeno cheese bread from the cutest bakery vendor. We brought our camp chairs and set up under the shade to hear the music and check out the vendors. Beer tickets were $7 and there was a pretty good variety. Fun time!

The Fair Oaks Chicken Festival is a must go to event for everyone. There is something for all ages. Lots of craft and business vendors, a few food trucks, music on multiple stages and a place for the kids to have fun & play. First time attending the festival, my 2 year old granddaughter and I went and had a blast. We walked around the different vendors, received some free items including a cool chicken hat, little chicken squish toys which she loved, and we learned a few things from the vendors. Had a Mango sorbert and Pink Lemonade from one of the food trucks that was the best I have ever had. Yum! Prices were good for the large size of the items.Parking wasn't too bad, we found some at a nearby business who offered their lot to festival patrons and didn't have to walk to far. There was lots of security walking around the festival, which made you feel safe. My granddaughter had so much fun coloring on the Kids Color Board, bouncing in the bounce houses and playing the mini carnival games. We will definitely will be back next year.

Disappointed. I understand the need for more parking; but, now missing from from the Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, at the sprawling new location in Fair Oaks Park, is the eclectic coziness of the village. Also, something more than a human dressed up in a chicken costume needs to be done to restore a sense of the theme. Where's the giant inflatable chicken? Where's the spicy fried chicken flavored ice cream? Where's the mechanical chicken (invented in Louiseville KY in 1953) riding contest? Where's the display of innovative chicken feeders featuring a drunken man--rolled in peanut butter and chicken feed--laid out spread eagle before a flock of live hungry chickens?!I hope that next year I won't be the only one there with chicken feathers hot-glued to my a**.

This festival is a great time! They have booths, vendors, music, food, drinks, games, kids entertainment, kids bounce houses, old timey carnival games, and many other fun things. I love the free chicken hats they pass out! The food trucks can have Long lines so be careful. Also, be VERY wary of a "drug-free" booth it is a front! It is actually Scientology! I made the mistake of giving them my name and number last year and they called me 84 times in one month!!! I'm not exaggerating at all! My caller ID keeps track. They are a cult and should be avoided!!I loved the apple pie and root beer that was offered at the Lions Club booth. I give this 4 chickens!!! LOL

This festival was a while ago but I am catching up now with my reviews.I'm a sucker for these little events. Love the environment and all the vendors all over the place. Jewelry vendors, food vendors, crafts, clothes, furniture, beverage... Lots to choose from and a few giving away things like reusable shopping bags, shades, cups, etc. While walking around, it's also nice to look at the little shops. I'm always fascinated with places that look like they've been around forever. It gives me something fun, inexpensive and interesting to do with my children for a little while and that's always nice.

I like Village chickens. I like festivals. I like chicken festivals. I really liked the Fair Oaks Chicken Festival. It's about the chickens that roam the Village.I don't make it to a lot of festivals and those I've been to this year, for the most part, have been somewhat disappointing. Not this one.Not everything here is chicken. But there are rubber chicken key chains, chicken "cluck" noise cups, chicken nachos, chicken kabobs, a couple people in chicken costume, metal chickens, ceramic chickens, Day of the Dead chicken figurines, and, of course real chickens wandering around - this is the Village. Many vendors of many wares (as you'd expect from vendors at a festival), a dedicated food area with food trucks and vendors, a pancake breakfast (sans chicken), beer tasting area, live music at the Chickenstock stage, and all the local businesses in the village welcoming the visitors. Fairly quiet at the 10:00am start but quickly crowded in by 11:00am. Anytime there's a gig in the Village Park, plan on parking a few blocks away and hoofing your way in.So much to see, so little time.Definitely one of the larger annual festivals here in the Village and definitely worth a visit this year or next.Ran in to a couple Yelp friends. That was really cool.

I've been wanting to go to this event for the last few years, but it always conflicted with a work thing I had to do on the same weekend. I'd say it was an okay time. I just wish the lines at the food trucks hadn't been so long. Some only had water or canned regular soda, so if you're not doing sugar, too bad for you. I didn't realize there were other food trucks around the other end of the venue. That and people cutting in line with their friends (Hawaiian Ice) was beyond annoying. People like that give the community a bad name. Be good, people. Come on! So I'm standing in line for a Hawaiian ice behind somebody's loser ex-husband with gaping holes in his earlobes (ew) and his adorable little girl when he ran into his work buddy and they started chatting it up in line in front of me (and this is why I know he's a loser ex, because he proceeded to tell his lame story about just having moved into an apt near the festival after his split-- it seemed he was kicked out by his gf or wife). Had he been considerate at the outset, I doubt I'd be judging him this harshly, but it was all only mildly irritating until work buddy and his two daughters weren't just chatting, they took up full residence in line, effectively cutting in front of me. Infuriating. Work buddy's two girls looked apologetically at me and hung their heads a bit. They knew their dad had just wormed his way into the line. Loser ex-husband let him do it. So after not moving in line for nearly 10 minutes, I cut my losses and figured if they needed Hawaiian ices so badly, they'd cut the line to get them, go ahead. Nice example they set for their sweet daughters who likely learned their manners from their moms. Cecil's Taste food truck cooked up awesome fried chicken sammies. I found some cute jewelry and the music was fun. Beer tasting area was confusing. No wristbands. Couldn't find tickets. No pricing for tastes. I didn't know what system was in play so we didn't taste. I didn't see anything I hadn't tasted already anyhow. No loss there. It was a beautiful day, and that made it all worth going.
