Alright peeps let's see who is in the chopping block todayyyy!!!! El tapatio come on down!!! Woot woot Alright let's start off with the outside not going to lie parking is not good since this restaurant is next to a hibachi buffet parking is limited so be prepared to do circles for a few minutes. The outside of the restaurant is nice very spacious and welcoming. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed by the host asking how many in your party? Not going to lie it gets packed on a weekend specially a Sunday. They sat us down in less than a minute for a party of 6 the first thing I notice and heard was live mariachi music so it was wonderful to hear different songs being played in different tables. We sat down at this huge table very comfortable. We got chips salsa and fried beans the chips were really crunchy and fresh so good. This is what we all ordered.Mom- Drink: water Food: Camarones Monterey which is shrimp wrap in bacon baked in butter topped with melted Monterey Jack cheese paired with beans.Dad- Drink: Diet Pepsi Food: mazarlan burrito tortilla filled with shrimp roasted piblano mix, and onions smothered in a pesto sauce paired with rice and beans.Wife- Drink: Mountain Dew Food: birria tacos paired with rice and beans. Filled with birria meat, melted Oaxaca cheese served with consome. Son- Drink: Dr Pepper Food: burrito asada paired with rice and beans.Daughter- Drink: horchata Food: birria tacos paired with rice and beans. Filled with birria meat, melted Oaxaca cheese served with consome. Me- Drink: horchata Food: enchiladas de mole paired with rice and beans. Mole sauce was the sweet chocolate mole sauce with shredded chicken inside. So review in the food by persons review.Mom- shrimp was moist not overly cooked bacon was crispy over all 10/10 but they did forget to give us tortillas with this dish.Dad- burrito did not seem like a burrito more like a one roll tortilla with just a few pieces of shrimp in it sauce was good eating.Daughter- birria tacos very moist good amount of meat Son- asada burrito was wet when he asked no sauce he did not realize it was a wet burrito so the tortilla was soggy the meat was so hard to chew. Rice and beans were good but over all nothing he would order again. Wife- birria tacos really good just the right amount of meat definitely something I would order again.Me- enchiladas de mole first got handed the wrong plate but then they got my plate correct the chicken was good but they really need to check the chicken good for bone residue I had multiple small bones I was not happy. Overall the food was good. So overall the food was good just the service was a 5 out of a 10 we had to keep screaming for our server yes we do realize it was very packed but it would of been nice to have gotten checked on from time to time. Food took a little bit to come out took long for us to get our drinks. Since had a person with hearing problems we had to ask them to kindly to not have the mariachi band come to close to were we had sat since it would definitely become an issue for the elder person with us.Now for the moment of truth is this place Dendinger approved??? Yes it is peeps... over all it was good food or as dad would say it's good eating definitely would come back for more.

I was taken by dear friends to brunch (on Sundays only) today at El Tapatio on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights. There is plenty of parking and a carefully designed pathway to the door for the disabled. Although it was crowded, the customer service was warm and very attentive. I sat on a pad bench for my friends although the receptionist offered me a table to sit and wait for them . The music gave me energy as well as the diverse crowd enjoying the buffet. After being seated, I confessed that I had never been to a Mexican buffet. I was overwhelmed by the variety of choices. I settled for small bowl of Menudo , carnitas tacos, handmade tortillas and rice and beans. I was eyeballing the enchiladas and chili rellenos, and the salmon not to mention the other offerings available So you know I will return!!!! I want to mention the atmosphere from the families, the caring and proactive customer service personnel, and the music. What a delightful experience. I cannot thank my friends enough for taking me there. As the terminator said, 'I will return'.

Every time we dine at our local El Tapatio, it's bustling with happy diners. Friendly and attentive chips and salsa servers and waiters attending to their guests, plus tons of entrees, appetizers, sides, drinks, and so much more with tantalizing photos! They're a great restaurant for Meetup groups, birthday parties and other get togethers. My husband and I eat here often. They make the most flavorful cilantro rice as well as Spanish rice and the atmosphere is festive, colorful and always adds to the enjoyment of dining there. Their entree portions are quite filling. My favorite dish is the Enchiladas Suiza which have a sweet and tangy tomatillo sauce that is hard to resist. Their burritos are huge and you can customize any dish to your taste. They also have busy Happy Hours and huge brunches on Sundays. Check them out if you haven't already!

You might go here for the complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip but it's really the service that makes this place feel so great. From the host, the ladies making tortillas, to the person that brings chips, the server, the manager, and the food runners every person is so kind and helpful. The staff really is what sets this place apart from other places. The sense of urgency and genuine customer awareness is top tier. The food is always good as well. Typically I get the carne asada and it's seasoned and cooked great. The taquitos paired with the jalepeno jelly is incredible! The ambiance is bright and colorful. Sometimes it can be really loud so if you are sensitive to noise I would suggest not going on the weekends. -plus size seating -Pepsi products - :( no Coca Cola products -easy parking

I've driven by El Tapatio countless times and finally stopped in for dinner. I love that they serve beans with the chips and salsa! The food was great. The chile verde was flavorful and the carnitas were nice and moist. The raspberry margarita was huge and only $9. Prices were reasonable for legit Mexican food. I'm glad I finally stopped in. Everyone here loves their job!! They were so attentive and friendly-- not the typical restaurant service! We got there there a little before 5, and by the time we left at 6 there were lots of people waiting. Would recommend going early. The bar area is lively. A huge restaurant with lots of seating. Stop in if you're in the area!

My go to especially when in the mood for some great Mexican food and homemade flour tortillas. Enjoyed an ice cold Margarita and ordered a few plates to share with the party of three I went with. The chicken and beef fajitas were a hit, came out super hot, and the beef was very tender along with all the fixings. Service is always great. Definitely a must try if in the area. Chicken mole plate is also good, sauce is not spicy but a little on the sweet side but flavor overall good.

If you want a good Mexican restaurant, come here. The ambience is very nice. The service is great. The drinks are delicious. The food is generally always stellar. Just yum. We started with their delicious complementary chips, salsa and bean dip. My goodness those are all delicious. (Tip: ask for a salsa verde salsa too!) Hubs got a lagunitas ipa and I got the perfect margarita - which was perfect. We ordered the steak molcajete. Now if you want an experience with amazingly delicious flavors, you MUST order this. Just WOW. I literally cannot explain the flavors other than, just order it. We have had this before, but we had chicken and steak and our friends ordered shrimp and steak. The chicken was good, but the flavors with just steak are unbeatable. Also, this is HUGE so be aware that unless you have at least 4 people, you'll be taking leftovers home - not a bad idea! One cool feature is the amazing hot stone molcajete in arrives in and then they serve a piece of cactus in it. Yum! It comes with fresh amazing flour or corn tortillas, rice and a sweet corn. Absolutely delicious. I've been going here for years and my go to was usually the cheese enchiladas or steak fajitas... you can't really go wrong with those options! I highly recommend this restaurant. Yum!!!!

We came on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. Our table was quickly given a basket of fresh tortilla chips, refried beans and salsa. The chips were crispy and not too salty. The beans were and salsa were also great. The menu itself is huge. It pretty much has everything you could want. There's fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, jalisco style entrees, seafood, and more. They also have a kids menu. We decided on a create your own two item and the camarones a la crema. We also got a side of beans and rice for the kids. Most dishes come with your choice of rice and choice of beans. Food didn't take too long to come out. Plates were huge and portions were big. The shrimp was almost like a shrimp alfredo sauce, very good. The tortillas were nice and warm. The Spanish rice was soft and flavorful.Service is always great. Staff are friendly and accommodating. They will gladly refill your basket of chips as many times as your heart desires!

You will see my last review was (3) years ago! And it's still a "5"!!!This place literally has the best Asada street tacos I've EVER HAD!!!! I've been to Mexico, these. Are. Better. Do not expect these to be on your table in 5 minutes, because ever steak is made to order. And I'm telling you.... Perfect Medium rare. Check the photos if you wanna judge before you test for yourself. Tortillas. Homemade. Steak. Medium rare, actual steak. The accoutrements... traditional. Perfection! The bean dip is so freaking good too! And the guac! Fresh made at your table! Can't speak for anything else. Because I will forever die eating steak tacos here!!!Next. The staff... I've been coming here to see Kathy for 3 years!!! She usually works the tables within the bar and is literally the nicest and hardest worker I've met since my mom. My passed away in 2013, and Kathy reminds me of her so much. Kathy walks with a limp, but her spirits are always so high! She may not be the fastest, but I've never seen that lady throttle down, sit down, or take a break! She works so darn hard! I hope to god the GM and Owner here know how absolutely amazing this woman is and take care of her! The rest of the staff has always been so friendly and so nice to me every time I come!I live 2 hours away.. but I make it a point to come here whenever I can! Get. The. Asada. Street. Tacos! You're welcome

Holiday weekend here as a tourist and came here for dinner. It was busy packed but took about 15min to get seated. It was very lively with live mariachi band playing at tables. The food was amazing for decent price. I got their most popular and sought after item, Molcajete (with three meats steak chicken and shrimp). It was filling enough to share among two adults.Highly recommend coming here for the best Mexican restaurant in town!
