I have been here multiple times and I forgot to review. This review is for my latest visit. Went in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated promptly. The hostess and server were nice and attentive. The decor is simple, nice tables and nice dishware. Everything about the place is classy, even the spa-like music. We were a party of two, we ordered two lunch entrees and two sushi rolls. Everything was delicious. The hot tea was very nice too.

Service and food were great! It was relatively busy but for a good reason. It is a hidden gem. Came here with my family and we all enjoyed.

I am leaving this a 3, as I was genuinely disappointed, but I will try to keep in mind that it was Valentine's day.We had a reservation for 7, but got there at 7:30. I had called ahead, and the guy said that was OK. We arrived, and stull had to wait 15 minutes. At this point, no big deal, still in a lovey-dovey meal.My wife ordered edamame, a sashimi platter, and the salmon lover's roll. I ordered the tomato, and the chicken curry plate. I will begin with the food. We immediately got the edamame, so yay for prompt service. Shortly after, I received my curry plate (but no sushi). The curry itself was super hot (microwaved?), but the rice AND vegetables were actually...cold. My wife was OK with me eating. Over two hours later, around 9:45, she received her salmon roll. She enjoyed it, and said ot was delicious. So, yay on them for that. About 20 minutes later, we asked them to cancel the sashimi platter. We left after a total of three hours, on a reservation, while waiting forever. Another disappointment was the unequal customer service: a gentleman next to us was seated "late," and was offered complimentary beverages to his table as an apology. For a reservation, not our whole order with a RESERVATION, we were offered nothing, and with our server, went over the check to see which items to take off before we paid...because we hadn't received them. While busy, there was not a huge crowd of people waiting to get in, and it seemed like a typical busy Friday night.I still spent a good amount of money on an incomplete sushi order and a subpar Japanese curry dish.Again, only leaving a 3 because I'm honoring the day of love. For averaging 4 stars...DO BETTER

I tend to stick to my regular place(s) for Japanese food, but ended up trying Ebisu for lunch and am glad I did! It's conveniently located close to the 1-5 exit on EG Blvd. I had the Sesame Chicken Entrée (lunch) and tried the Elk Grove Special Roll & Rainbow Roll. Everything was good. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I did prefer the Elk Grove Special Roll over the Rainbow (but I seem to like rolls with more sauce in general, which isn't traditional for sushi). The miso soup served with the entrée included both tofu and wakame (seaweed). Service was excellent. The interior is nice & open and to me felt like a very relaxed/comfortable atmosphere.

I visited EBISU in Elk Grove, CA on Saturday, 2/8/25, around 5 PM. For dinner, I was able to try the following:*Tuna Ceviche*Hamachi Hand Roll (w/ spicy mayo)*Rainbow Roll*Chicken Teriyaki Dinner (w/ rice, mixed vegetables, miso soup) The fish incorporated into both rolls were beyond fresh. The Tuna Ceviche was dynamite in flavor. The Chicken Teriyaki Dinner was straightforward and good. Overall, all of the food was palatable. The inside of the restaurant was welcoming and modern. The fish lamps from the bar area were beautiful. The customer service was up to standards. The bathroom was tidy and clean. My entire dining experience was pleasant. I would return to this restaurant in the future.

3.5 Came here on a friday night, didn't have to wait which was really great. Ordered the soft shell crab (not pictured) but, it was really soft and I enjoyed it specially with the paired sauce. Volcano roll was a bit too heavy for my liking, but salmon roll was fresh. I liked how bright the restaurant was, I feel like most restaurants have an ambient dim lighting which makes it hard to see your food sometimes, but I enjoyed the brightness and clean interior.

Our first time here but what a wonderful time it was! It was a Wednesday night and it was very slow so we were able to enjoy a nice quiet evening together and enjoy the company, the interior is very clean and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and had some light banter that brought smiles to our faces. We got sake, a chicken kurage appetizer and 4 rolls and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Even the dishes were lovely with woodblock print designs. We had the best time and would happily come here again

OMG one of my favorite Japanese places has changed owners and management. Not for the better. It happened 2 weeks ago. I went there last night with the family. I started off with the oysters on the half shell. I asked if they had the Kumimotos and they said they did. When I got them, they were big and were not Kumimotos . The server checked and said they were. She saw the box. They oysters were plain and had nothing on them. It usually comes with roe eggs and sauce on them. Instead, it came with hot sauce and 2 other sauces. It didn't look very appealing or fresh. I ate one and it wasn't good. Not very fresh. I was so disappointed that I sent it back. The manager came by to apologize. I asked if he changed vendors of their seafood and where he got the oysters and he said they didn't. He wanted to give me another the old way it used to come. I really didn't want to since the oysters would probably be the same. He insisted and they came out looking ok but still some were larger and not Kumimotos. They were better. The Chiriashi Don was made differently too. It tasted good and was fresh. We had the garlic salmon which seemed not as fresh as the ones I had in my Chirashi. Oh well. The Yakisomba which is one of my favorite here was soggy. The noodles were over cooked. It was ok. Hopefully they get better. A lot of the staff left so some changes. Fresh fish is the key to any sushi place so I hope they get the quality back otherwise this place will just be an average place and not make it.Omg I forgot, my wife used to love their Agidashi tofu and nonow they changed the batter to just panko . The reson she liked it so much is that it was differnt than everyone else's, now it's just plain , another minis. Sad

Food: 4.5 | Wait time: HORRENDOUS... a 0.5 | Service: 4Had a reservation which we got there on time for and only got to sit down 30 mins later. Definitely the management's fault since he still takes in walk-in customers even though there's already a lot of people waiting with reservations. And after getting our orders, we had to wait MORE THAN 1 hour to get our food. The food was really good, but unfortunately as I was finishing my Sake Don, I found a stray hair with its follicle still attached in my rice that definitely couldn't be mine. Other than all of these unfortunate things , everything else was good. Our server was really nice and deeply sympathized with us, even took the sake don off the bill.
