Such an incredibly cute bookshop with complimentary tea and friendly staff. I called ahead of time to see if they had a specific self-help book in stock, and thankfully they did, and they set it aside for me. I didn't take a hard look at their selection since they were gonna close within the next hour but I did see plenty of options to choose from ranging from classic literature, to politics, fiction romance and fantasy, to travel, and cooking. I got sidetracked looking at their journals, bookmarks, and pins. They were all cute and had me wanting to take a few home. There was this one particular journal I found that was meant for reflecting on how you feel being out in nature, and I wanted to nab it so bad but stopped myself. It even had a whole list in the back of the journal of every national park in the US, and other helpful tips.Anywho, very friendly staff, pretty organized, plenty of options it seems despite it being small, and I'd say how much I paid for the book was standard bookstore pricing. I'd rather shop local than through Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

This is such a cute bookstore, well worth a visit. They're located a few blocks from McKinley Park. They have new books, used books, romance books, classics, YA, and children's books. They have a cute children's section with music and toys. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The pricing for the books matches the retail prices (unless it's the used books). Some books were 10% off. Near the check out are some snack options. They have sparking water in a fridge and popsicles in a freezer for $3 each. They have a very small parking lot. There is street parking nearby. Dogs are welcome inside the shop.

Our favorite bookshop in Sacramento. We love it so much we signed up for the membership for the great deals on books! Great seeing friends from around the neighborhood randomly, a community hub for East Sac.

This is such a cute neighborhood bookstore! It's the perfect place to find a gift! The shop is cozy and the staff was friendly. They also have more recently published and popular books compared to other bookstores I went to. (For example, I went to Time Tested and Beers Books, which are better for specific, used books for bibliophiles... while I think EVB is good for gifts, popular and current reads, new books etc.)The shop also has used books too but a limited section. :) Very cute shop. Parking was easy in the free, small lot.

An amazing selection of books, fabulous staff, and the most relaxing environment to browse around. This is my go-to bookstore for both popular new releases as well as hidden gems.

Coziest ambiance ever and my new favorite bookstore! I found 4 books that have been on my list that I couldn't find at Barnes and Noble! The person working the counter was so friendly and even made some book suggestions for me. Support local bookstores and shop here!

I am in LOVE with this bookstore.Happened across this wonderful spot while on a trip to Sacramento and so desperately wish there was a sister store in OC. This magical little place is exactly what you want for in a book store. It's clearly a place that values community and supporting minority authors and small businesses. You can find a wide selection of books here, ranging from best seller Tik Tok popular books all the way to those obscure books you didn't know you needed but now must add to your collection. I love the spotlights on minority authors (especially in the children's section!). This is also a great spot to find a bookish or novelty gift for your favorite bookworm, including magnets, buttons, STICKERS, tote bags, the list goes on.Some of my other favorite things about this place that makes it so special:1. The front door knob is a lot lower and I wondered why...only to realize it's placed that way so kids can get into the store with ease!2. Free tea/coffee table on the left side when you enter.3. Art all over the place made by kids who clearly frequent this bookstore encouraging you to buy a book!4. Kids corner in the back for reading and coloring5. Membership program with lots of perks INCLUDING a popsicle every time you buy a book in person (HOW I WISH THIS STORE WAS IN OC)6. Free gift wrapping!!!The minute I walked in, I fell in love. And I have not stopped talking about this bookstore since. If you value community and supporting small businesses, please go here. The staff is amazing and wonderful and this spot is DELIGHTFUL.

Oh how I wish to package up this gorgeous shop and its staff and bring you all back to Oak Park, IL with me (near Chicago)! I drove by last night after some grocery shopping and thought this was a children's bookstore, which would have been exciting enough. But they ALSO sell books for all ages, markers, decals, candles, small gifts... and popsicles!! Really good popsicles! The staff member at the counter was amazing, helpful, cheery, and just all around lovely. I scored a bunch of fab trans-positive decals for my laptop, water bottle, and car. I also got two really cool cards that contain flower seeds, so I am going to send those to my mother today as her two favorite things are 1. getting mail, 2. planting seeds in her garden! Love everything about East Village Bookshop, especially the Pride Month display, and I will definitely return next trip to Sacramento! 5 stars!

Great neighborhood bookshop with a variety of books for all ages as well as tons of cute gift options! Stopped in to purchase a gift certificate as a white elephant gift, and really enjoyed exploring the shop. Also obsessed with the assortment of cute greeting cards here- lots of letter-pressed and foiled card options. There are some chairs if you want to sit down while browsing through your options. They also have a welcome table with a hot water dispenser and multiple complimentary teas. Terrific spot to explore on a cold winter day.
