Huge waste of time and effort. I tried getting help from the DOR - for the second time - in January of 2015. I hoped they could help me find a job where I didn't need a car, since I don't have car and I can't afford one. The good thing is that I was referred to Crossroads Diversified. They were far more help. After I received my Ticket to Work, I started a pass plan with Crossroads to attend the ONLY school in Sacramento County that provides a Barber Theory program. Immediately after these wheels started rolling, my disability was placed under review by both sides. Before my pass plan could be approved, my disability status and Social Security benefits were revoked. My pass plan was dropped. I scrambled to find a job - ANY JOB - while desperately trying to get my case holder on the phone. At times, it took a month just to get a response. My case holder's suggestions were constantly leading me to places on the outer reaches of Sacramento County. I was constantly having to remind him that I Didn't Have A Car, and please look for something I could actually get to on my bike. Wasted breath. At one point I was told that Barber wasn't a very marketable skill. Which is ridiculous. In the end, I wound up scraping up a job at Domino's (I don't suggest it). Soon after, I received a letter from the DOR, congratulating themselves on my shitty employment and saying that my case was now "successfully" closed. DON'T BOTHER.

In my experience; department of Rehab is horrible about communication. I could send a voicemail, email, and call in to try and connect with someone and nobody gets back to me for weeks. I currently want to go to college and they said they would help pay for it. It's been months since I've heard from my counselor. Now it has been another 2 weeks since the last email and voicemail I sent. I even tried to talk to another counselor to get things done but I haven't heard from her either. It's Christmas.....so I figured I wait til after Christmas bit the way I see it going is It's going to be the same story it has been. We will will see but I do not have high hopes in them getting back to me.

It has been over a year that I have been trying to receive aid from the DOR, none of my counselors have seemed to have a clue as to what needs to be done to help me. I have been given 3 redundant "assessments" and they have yet to lay out a plan of action for training!

I initiated their service in September of 2023 I'm still waiting to receive any assistance finding employment. I understand that case loads are high and they may be short staffed, I get that, I really do...but more than SIX MONTHS...??? I've worked in the helping profession and we'd never let that happen. Their services are poor at best.

My counselor zangh in Roseville Ca said that he could try and have the department of rehabilitation of ca pay for clothing that was required I buy for Myself to do a requirement for the department of rehabilitation of Ca . Well I've been waiting and waiting and nothing has been said about it and I have not seen any check to cover that expense . I am told that the department of rehabilitation of California is supposed to be able to help people with expenses and this was a requirement for them to work with me don't you know that is Definitely DESCRIMINNATION Right here AND zangh excuse for not paying for the special clothes was that he was going to be the one to Decide what kind of clothes I can wear away from work and the Assessment . He commended well you can still wear the clothes so that is why he thought the department of rehabilitation of California should not have a responsibility to pay. I am proud to say I live in the USA . And that was also DISCRIMINATION
