Deer Creek Bar and Grill

We stumbled upon this darling bar and grill. Little had we known they had just opened last month. In from out of town and just randomly picked a place to eat. Great ambiance! Not knowing at all what we were walking into ~ we were pleasantly surprised! Located on the creek and as a deck for dining. It was chilly when we were there so we opted to sit inside. Loved the cozy lively vibe. Games were on a few TV's so that enhanced the liveliness of the atmosphere. Food was good. Cocktails were excellent. Our party all ordered something different and enjoyed what we ate.The sweet potato fries and calamari were warm and crispy.Western Burger ~ 5/5Bbq ribs (requested them to be very cooked & they arrived as requested) ~ 5/5Reuben ~ 4/5Beef dip ~ 3/5 (not a lot of meat/kind of sandwich store bought meat-ish)Service was spectacular. Our server was so friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. Would definitely go again and recommend!

This local restaurant has been reinventing itself now for a few years. It's a fantastic location and deserves to be a great restaurant. We went today for breakfast and really enjoyed our visit. Fresh and tasty food? Check! (Mediterranean Omelette)Nicely plated? Check! (See photo)Good service? Check check!! Way to go! Rob was da bomb! Just two things need to be fixed to give Deer Creek 5 stars.... The total price of the meal is pushing it into the "we can go elsewhere locally" category.1. They buy specialty coffee beans and grind themselves. Don't bother....it was bitter and undrinkable. AND they charge $5.00 for it. Tell you what..save the cost and just get something reasonable.2. They also charge a credit card fee. Yeah, I get it but there are still plenty of restaurants that DON'T charge back the credit card fee.So combining the pricey coffee and the credit card fee.... It's an "ouch" for me. Still, I gave it 4 stars...if the coffee and credit card fee don't bother you...then I highly recommend a visit.

They are doing great for a new restaurant. We enjoyed the front room which had a quieter ambiance than the bar. We got a good seat near the heater because it was cold. The food was delicious and came out in the perfect amount of time. The dessert menu was unique and cleverly planned. Totally worth getting.

Great food Casual atmosphere Extensive menu. Friendly attentive service. Nice outside patio. I had the Patty Melt & it was mighty tasty. Others had the beef dip & Chicken Parmesan & were also pleased with their dishes. Would definitely return to this spot.

Good food. Had brunch. Nice servers. She forgot our toast, but we didn't ask her for it. Bar is comfy, feels like a "pub." Cocktail menu. Will go back!

I've been here twice and the food and service were great both times. The first time was for dinner, and the second time was for breakfast. Their menu is diverse with a lot of great options and the pricing is also very reasonable. The servers and hostesses are friendly, too. I plan to come back here a lot. Best new restaurent in town for the last few years.

Great food and service. Order Bloody Mary with octopus bacon. Nice ambiance too. Bar service stupendous.

We enjoyed a fabulous dining experience here last night, so naturally I couldn't wait to write a 5 star review this morning over my first cup of coffee. I've been a professional wedding designer, planner and event specialist for many years, and I've witnessed first hand the transformative impact that exceptional culinary experiences paired with outstanding service can have on all types of gatherings and celebrations, and Deer Creek Bar & Grill is at the top of their game in both categories, from appetizers to dessert! My husband and I both loved the menu options, with so many wonderful and exciting creations, we opted for the Maui Salad, and the Chicken Marsala. Both were HEAVENLY, with perfectly prepared JUMBO prawns in the Maui salad and a flavorful, lively house made Maui dressing. The chicken marsala was the best I've ever tasted, served with savory Quinoa and perfectly grilled veggies, and the best mushroom wine sauce around. Now...let talk about the appetizers. If you love Calamari, Deer Creek's calamari melts in your mouth! The coating is light and crispy, and the calamari strips are tender and cooked to perfection. They prepare the entire tentacle, in long strips with plenty of tender meat, not the unappetizing circular "bits" that resemble onion rings, so often served in other restaurants. The Brussel sprouts were also served in a creative and delightful style, cut into smaller pieces, making them easier to enjoy, crispy and delicious, with a flavorful drizzle. The service was outstanding! We were greeted warmly when we entered, and the temperature of the restaurant was warm and welcoming, a inviting respite from the cold January temps outside! We immediately felt at home, and the mood was set for a cozy dinner. We were seated in the front room, with soft, pleasing dinner music overhead, at a volume that was conducive to conversation and connection. Our server, Ellie, was warm, friendly, engaging, and attentive, and we felt cared for like family while we genuinely enjoyed every course. The menu prices are competitive and fair, and honestly, we've sadly paid a lot more for local dining experiences that were 1 star. DEER CREEK OFFERS VALUE, great cuisine, exceptional service, at a reasonable price, in a lovely setting. What more can anyone ask for? I will strongly encourage all of my local wedding clients to consider Deer Creek for their rehearsal dinner venue, and I'm excited to learn more about their event catering!! Please treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience, and reserve a table at Deer Creek!! You'll be so happy you did....just don't take OUR favorite table! :)

Sitting outside above the flow of the creek the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries and the Patty Melt with salad were EXCELLENT! You can tell this place cares about what they serve! Wait staff was the best!

Very happily surprised about our lunch today. We were greeting right away with a smile and seated upstairs in the lounge room where we requested. A lot to choose in this menu but I settled on the crispy Chicken sandwich and glad I did. I wanted it spicy and extra crispy and it was cooked perfectly. It probably could have been a bit spicier but it still was delicious. I got the onion rings that came with it and they were really good and a very healthy portion as well. My wife had the Pepper burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, jack & cheddar, jalapenos with jalapeno ranch sauce. She loved it and even the fries were perfectly crispy and tasty. This restaurant is a great addition to Nevada City.
