A friend asked me to join her in taking a International dance class at the Senior Center. It was really inexpensive and fun. The class was held in a large room that provided plenty of space to spread out in a big circle. The sound system worked perfectly. Prior to this class I had only been inside the Senior Center once to pick up a free Unitrans senior bus pass. The reception desk staff were really friendly and helpful.Today I also attended the free monthly cooking demonstration. Each month is a different theme and this month was making use of leftovers. I had thought it would be about how to make use of leftover meats and such but instead it was a very creative and educational program on how to make use of the stuff people usually just toss, such as the rinds of watermelons and the liquid in garbanzo bean cans. Did you know that you can whip up the bean liquid and make a meringue like stiff foam that can then be mixed with melted chocolate to become a vegan chocolate mousse? We were able to taste the finished dessert and it was amazing. On the way out today I noticed a few other rooms that people can use to just relax or chat or attend activities. They also have a cart of paperback books to borrow from. I do need to spend more time at the Senior Center exploring all that it has to offer. There is plenty of free parking in several lots close to each of the center's buildings and entrances.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The programs are tailored to varying interests, from Feldenkreis movement, slide presentations, and cooking classes. There is a large, easy to access parking lot and large convenient restrooms with accommodations. A great place to meet new friends.

I have been the intern at the Davis senior center for the last 10 weeks, and this place is an amazing community center for all Davis citizens, but especially its seniors. From fitness activity programs, free lunch programs, education seminars, and music classes, they have it all! I suggest looking at their newsletter to find out what is happening during the month, as what is offered varies month to month.

Very disappointing experience. I spent over an hour trying to set up and register for an event. I finally got signed up and found out I could not bring a friend without registering them too. I was not willing to put another hour or more into this. The sight is not user friendly, nor is the center itself. Too many rules. Too many hoops to jump through to gain access. This should be a friendly welcoming center for seniors who may not be into using the internet. I felt anything but welcome.

It's a great place for anybody to be! It doesn't have to be over a certain age, Davis Senior Center is like a community get together place for everyone, for young and old! Staff are all very welcoming and helpful and there are so many different activities and classes people can take and enjoy. I highly recommend to check out this wonderful community facility.

Davis Senior Center is a wonderful, wonderful place! There are many activities, events, classes, and resource helps. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and quite helpful. Community members can become active by volunteering or just participating in things like the annual "Jewelry Sale" fundraiser (photos attached) or helping other people by greeting occasionally.Art classes, exercise, games, reading, sing-alongs, and movies. Those are just a few of the activities to look for. Plus speakers and community meetings. "The Scene" is their monthly newsletter which contains all of the calendared items and also has a menu for that month's lunches. "Meals on Wheels" is also centered here; and that's another way to volunteer.

Even before I became a senior, this was one of my favorite places to go. They have many classes, programs, and clubs to entice community members to stay active and involved. They also offer information about public and private services. I suggest reading their monthly newsletter, "The Scene" (which you can subscribe to through the CityOfDavis.org website), to find out what is happening right now. It also contains menus for their daily lunches.
