En-garde! You're going to want to lunge into this experience! The Davis fencing academy is without a doubt amazing!Be prepared for spectacular. The staff is kind, thoughtful, and extremely helpful. I stopped in to check out the Academy, because every time I drive by it, the academy is filled with kids taking classes, and they always look like they're having a blast. Originally, I thought perhaps classes were only offered to children, but as it turns out, they offer classes for everyone! Classes are offered at different times and days, and worth checking out. The level of discipline alone makes taking classes so worth it. You'll want to grab Fencing feels like it's a lost art, but at the Academy, it's a way of life. You'll want to grab your foil and parry your way to a Touché!

There is no other Fencing Academy in Davis so this was easy to review. They got only 4 strips (plus that they're electric!) and the like most fencing academies, you're either really good or you're not good at all. All in all, I'm amazed that there is an academy here and it's great to see one of my favorite sports thriving.

This is a very fine fencing club offering lessons for people of all ages. I have been a competitive fencer for many years and in the late 90's trained at this club, ultimately earning a place on the U.S. Veteran foil and epee team and going to the Veteran World Championships in Hungary in 2000. Simon Pitfield, the owner and head coach, is a great guy and has developed his academy to serve the needs of the local community. Now at age 70 and living over an hour away, I still drive to Davis from time to time and take great pleasure in seeing old friends and meeting some new ones. I recommend this club as a place to start your competitive fencing.

I toured the Davis Fencing Academy earlier in the year and found it to be one of the most accomodating sports clubs I have ever seen. The coaches and office staff are very knowledgable and quick to assist all of thier students. I would like to point out that of the entire staff, two stood out particularly well, a Coach Marty Wyma, and office manager, Molly Alcorn. They were delightful to meet and talk to, and they almost convinced me to join the ranks. If I had more time to spend in the area, I would most definitely come back and join the classes, which accomodate ages 8-the age where you can still walk.

Definitely the best in the area to learn all three weapons (foil initially, epee and sabre depending on student preference later on). Very sociable, fun, encouraging, positive group. Beginners/intermediate, actually all students get good classic foundation in technique, safety, history and tactics. Advanced fencers are encouraged to develop via open fencing and if competitive, private/semiprivate lessons from either Simon Pitfield (the proprietor of Davis Fencing Academy) or from fellow experienced fencers at the club. Since moving to bigger digs, now with over 8-10 strips (electric), the club now can and does accommodate more fencers. Currently, training in Pentathalon (swimming, fencing, running, target shooting, no riding yet) is being offered as another activity at this club. The opportunities for fun is endless for kids, adults and even older folks looking for great workout (keeps the mind sharp). Highly recommended!
