To be sure, for me, the dicey parking situation is almost enough to keep me away BUT, I'm so glad I didn't let it! This is my second time here, but it has been a while. The food is tasty and well prepared and offers a great variety of options from snacks to entrees and desserts. The service was good and the room is large and comfortable and can accommodate small groups or families easily. There is also an electronic billboard that showcases some of the foods and is behind the counter. I began with panipuri as an appetizer. How does one describe these most delicious crispy cups of chutney, potato and chick pea? Just DELICIOUS and fun to eat! I enjoyed them so much. There are 6 pieces to an order and designed to share. But it was only me and I enjoyed each one of the six (maybe why I had so much of my entree to take home!)I ordered Lamb Saag. The portion is enough for a second meal, if alone. I actually ended up having 2 meals at home with the remainder. The lamb saag(spinach) was tasty and the meat was quite tender and spiced just right for me. I asked for less spice and was happy with what I got. The rice was separately priced but a large portion. I ordered the plain naan which proved a wonderful accompaniment for scooping the lamb. It was flaky, hot and tasty!I am already planning a return with my niece for our September monthly luncheon outing. They also offer Chinese and Afghani dishes. Perhaps I'll try their Afghani fare next time. I like Afghani food too. Do yourself a favor when in the area and enjoy a meal here. If you like Indian food, I don't think you can go wrong.

Went in there with 2 colleagues on a rainy and cold Wednesday night. I will start with the good. The food knocked it OUT of the park We ordered pani puri and papri chaat for starters , the dahi was fresh, the chaat crispy and kabuli chole really week cooked. It was like an explosion of flavors in your mouth For the main course we ordered garlic naan ( so-so) , baingan bharta ( not what I expected but absolutely delicious) , chicken saag ( delectable, so full of flavor and the chicken was so tender!) and Chinese fried rice ( abundance of corn and other veggies, not a lot of chicken but it was so delicious, bordering on addictive ). The service was great too, extremely polite staff, considerate to all our needs and had helpful suggestions on the food Why 4 instead of 5 star? The location! A very tight driveway and the smoke shop next door makes for some shady traffic on the street that runs by this eatery. It's really sad because the food is fabulous. I saw A LOT take ways and Uber eats orders and that made sense. If you would like some mouth watering India and Afgani food, Darbar is the place to go to!

The curry was freaking delicious and fairly priced. Unfortunately the main problem here is, um well, how do I put this nicely. But let's just say your car may get broken into when it's dark, like high probability. This restaurant sits on the corner of Broadway and Stockton. There's just a lot of homeless people walking around. Me and my partner ate inside at night at like 6pm when it was dark, and straight up we saw some "sketchy" people. The parking lot is super small, so that does not help. Also next to this place is a "smoke shop." This area is just not good and there have been a lot of failed businesses on this corner. The food was good, but gosh the location is just SUPER SUPER sketchy. Also, I don't really like the Indian Afgan and Chinese options. I would say just choose a culture and be great at it rather than a jack of all trades master of none situation.

This restaurant is new to us and since we were in the neighborhood we'd try it. We both ordered the Darbar Special Goat Biryani " Authentic Diamond Rice Layered with tender pieces of meat seasoned with fragrant spices and yogurt. "Our food arrived hot as expected. The rice is very flavorful and a nice spice level. The garnishes and yogurt were provided after the food was served but handy. The meat ( goat ) was mostly bones and not very tender. I'd say there were @2 ounces of protein and 2 ounces of bones. The yolk of the hard boiled eggs was green and unappetizing. The service was slow but he was mostly friendly. The server poured water for the other tables but not us...he also needs to familiarize himself with the menu. If you order by the "number " don't. Just read the item title. The restaurant interior as very clean and inviting. The prices are decent.

Like other reviewers said, it's kind of a hole in the wall unknown place that should be 1000x more well known. The food was absolutely fabulous, bursting with flavor and some of my favorite Indian food I've had. If you haven't tried Darbar, it's a must!

Somehow I had never heard of Darbar until recently, so imagine my surprise when it turned out to be some of the best Indian food I've ever had. An extensive menu featuring Indian, Chinese, and Afghani cuisines offers many classics that American diners are likely familiar with, plus several new options to try.My party of 3 had a reservation on a Thursday evening, but the place was spacious and far from full. We started with vegetable samosas, which were crispy on the outside with a light, flavorful potato and pea mixture inside. For entrees, we ordered aloo gobi and the Afghani eggplant dish Borani Ban Jan, as well as a side of plain rice and naan.Everything was delicious, but the highlight was the Birani Ban Jan. Served with yogurt and a creamy, slightly smoky tomato base, it was rich and delicious to eat over rice or on its own. I would 100% order it again. The only spot on the experience was our server getting busy and forgetting to bring a mango lassi we ordered. But he was very apologetic about it - and honestly, the food was so good that it really wasn't a big deal.

Parking is quite sketchy but trust me, this place is worth it! Legit delicious with great service. Music was also awesome! I ordereed the fish biryani and samosa chaat. Wow! The fish biryani had a kick to it so be careful! If you want it spicy, I'm sure they can do make it authentic spicy! Samosa chaat was delicious witj the perfect texture and sauce. Mango Lassi was legit! So fresh, no after taste. Best I've had!Do checkout this place!

We pass by this place all the time on Stockton Blvd, so we decided to give it a try through take out. There does seem to be a small parking lot near the restaurant, but it looks hard to turn in to, so we got it delivered. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas and the lamb biryani. The lamb biryani was probably our favorite dish out of the three. There wasn't a lot of meat in the biryani however. My husband liked the chicken tikka more than I did. There was a spice that seemed very sweet that overpowered the dish for me. Not a lot of heat in either dish. It was just ok to me. We might go back there because of its proximity to our house, but I think we're more likely to go to some of the other Indian restaurants in the area instead.
