We tried the Cornerstone Cafe & Bar (J Street) for lunch yesterday. This was our first experience eating there. It was lunch time but not busy ... maybe 8 other folks having lunch. My hunch is business picks up significantly in the evening. Nice, but low key, bar atmosphere. Service was very good.Our order consisted of their soup of the day and two salads. The soup was Beef Vegetable. A little short on beef but hardy and good ... house made. I also enjoyed my Shrimp Louie - Bed of fresh greens topped with bay shrimp, avocado, hard boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber slices and paprika. Generous amount of tasty shrimp.The other salad was Tuna. It too included a bed of fresh greens with hardboiled egg, tomato and cucumber slices and topped with homemade tuna salad.Very reasonable prices. This was a good experience

Visited cornerstone at 11:30a on a Sunday. Party of 6. Service was pretty quick, Calvin was our server. He was pretty nice. Food was mid/just okay. I ordered the biscuits and gravy combo and there was also a club sandwich. Biscuits did not contain any sausage in the gravy and was nothing to write home about. There was nothing spectacularly tasty about the gravy, nothing that would make it memorable. The "toasted" sandwich had cold meat, and when we asked if it could be warmed we were told the kitchen could not accommodate. The other plates were either just okay OR Not edible. Two plates were left picked over, no acknowledgement or inquiry as to why be the restaurant. It was because the omelettes were reviewed as "bland". Can't say I would return or recommend.

Came for lunch on a weekend. Ordered 2 burgers. Bacon Cheeseburger ($15) and mushroom burger ($14) with garlic fries (+$2) Friendly staff. Reasonably priced cocktails (I only get vodka/soda water, so I can't speak to the quality of beers or specialty drinks). They also have about 7 or 8 regular bar tvs and 1 huge 12' screen protected on the wall which always has sports. It also appears there is some sort of dance floor with lights which I assume is for late night.

Our office go to restaurant for safety meetings or Christmas breakfast. Lots of seating so you can come in with a large crowd. Nobody complains about the food and the food comes out quickly.

Lovely little cafe for brunch! We stopped in a few weeks back and enjoyed a nice "hangover brunch" on a Sunday. I always judge a cafe by the breakfast sandwich, and this one delivered. Light fluffy eggs, ham and I added a couple strips of bacon because why not!? Delicious & affordable. This place has the appearance of a no frills cafe, but then you discover the full bar! We enjoyed the outdoor seating area as a larger party and our server was very accommodating. We'll definitely be back!

We enjoyed our Sunday brunch there with a group of friends. They have a pretty big menu, but when someone mentioned they had Chicken & Waffles, that was all I needed to know. It is my go-to, and a must try if it's on the menu!The waffle was your standard buttermilk biscuit waffle mix, it was as topped with a few thick crispy bacons, and three chicken tenders. Now, the thing about the chicken is that it's extra crispy but the batter is more of a chicken katsu and not a southern fried chicken. The meat on the inside was tender. I believe the Avocado Jack Burger was great since she ate all of it with no complaints. HA!I believe the pitcher of mimosas served about 8-10 flutes. All who were drinking appeared to enjoy them.The servers were friendly and funny. The pricing was average. When you walk in there, it's like an old school diner/cafe but with a club vibe. Seriously, there's dance floor lights above, the bar to the left, and a couple backdrops for VIP pictures at night. Cool spot. Check it out if you're in the area.
