Carly is quite simply and amazingly attentive and personable bar tender and server. She has a great memory too! After having been to Colina de Oro only once before, Carly knew what I was getting to drink. She also knew my business partner's drink order. The drinks are perfectly mixed. Both meals I've had were excellent tasting. Great portion sizes. The nachos grande are a friggin meal in and of themselves honestly. The fajatias were full of flavor. The veggies in the fajatias were perfectly cooked and retained the crispness I look for in a dish of this nature. The other staff and managers I have encountered were all very very helpful and professional. A couple of times I asked a question about a dish or about ingredients the the initial point of contact was uncertain of the answer; there was zero hesitation to find a staff member who was able to answer it!

I've been going to this restaurant off and on for several years. I always hoped the food would get better, like offering more American food choices (it's in a small town) and it would be nice if the owner wound acknowledge our patronage once in a while. Recently during our visit around 2pm we were nearly frozen, staff said they keep heat off during slow hours....thanks a lot!?But...The wait persons & bartenders are always courteous and friendly!

700TH REVIEW! Colina de Oro (Gold Hill) is an average run of the mill Mexican restaurant. For a Tuesday, it is the only place open to eat for many miles around, so in one regard it is good to have it here.As far as looks and ambiance, this place has seen its day and definitely needs a cleaning and fresh makeover. It looks very dated and a little ragged at the edges. The bar seemed quite active, and the rest of the place had a few patrons, but not many.Chips and salsa, plus water, was brought to the table right away. The salsa was good, chips mainstream.I also ordered a blended margarita, which was rather bland and lacked any punch or alcohol. It just tasted like lime punch. The menu is what one would expect and all the usual offerings. I decided to have the Chile Verde entree dinner, with rice, beans, and my choice of flour tortillas. The pork was OK, again nothing too special. All of it was middle-of-the-road Mexican fare. The service was friendly and cordial enough, yet seemingly bored. So, with that, if you're hungry on a Tuesday in this part of Amador County, this might be your only option. Just don't expect much other than ordinary.

This place immediately hits you with the dingey small-town-bar vibe when you walk in - not a lot of light and heaps of wood paneling. Staff are friendly enough for sure, but the food is way below average. Can't really see how any care is taken over any of it. No taste, no real effort. Needs a drastic remodel and reinvigoration. It's a shame because there's not many options in this little town.

The people were super friendly and so was the server. But food didn't have much flavor and beans were terrible. And it's over priced for what you get. I took half my beef burrito to go and ate the rest today, while eating I found a piece of wire in my burrito. See pictures

When you food comes out 3 minutes after you place your order that tells you something about the dining experience you are about to enjoy. It's as if they tried to make the food taste and look unappetizing.

Much prefer the Colina De Oro in Diamond Springs. We were in the area and decided to just stop here instead. The food was okay, the service was awful. And it's not a very inviting place.

They said open until 9 we arrived at 8:15 and greeted with rude employees and said they are closed. Lazy and dirty setting.

Don't bother....this place used to be just ok, but now servings are half, prices have doubled and it's 55 degrees in the winter and 88 degrees in the summer. The owner is one of the cheapest pieces of S*** I've ever known! When it's 55 degrees you can't even eat! When it's 88 degrees you want to throw up! Service is ALWAYS GREAT, but come on at least heat the place and air condition the place! So DONE and so are all the people I refer there. You wonder why they don't have any business anymore! Oh and who closes at 8? it says 8:30 but you're lucky if they are open until 7-7:30. I've seen them turn away customers at 7:15 many times! DONE, DONE AND DEFINITELY DONE! Good luck if you try it!

Party of 8 on a Thursday evening. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. It took at least 30 min for them to take our order. Notably, we had to get up and find the server and request they take our order. They just didn't seem to care. Food was just ok. Salsa tasted like Pace Picante and the enchilada sauce was most likely a can of Las Palmas. Food was overpriced and not worth it. Ambience was odd. Christmas lights from last year. My thought is like us people still come here because it's in the middle of nowhere and hungry. My advice ...keep driving .
