As part of my LA Fitness membership, this was part of the network and I wanted to use the gym while I was visiting family. I like the open space design and wish the bathrooms were cleaner. It did get crowded so be ready to use your priority machine, especially late morning.

I started my membership at City Sports Gym (CSG) Calvine location in February. I toured the gym and was impressed with its cleanliness and friendly staff. I was particularly eager to start my membership at CSG as it has Aqua Aerobic classes that fit my schedule. I have arthritis, so a key selling point for me joining the gym is that the pool was heated. Supposedly 82 degrees. Also, key for was that the entire gym is clean. So, I enthusiastically joined CSG.On the positive side, the gym has many of the latest equipment and tools that a gym enthusiast needs to meet their fitness levels. And, a bonus is that you will generally have no trouble with the availability of the variety of equipment. Also, a positive for the gym is that there are plenty of staff around to greet you when you enter the gym. I cannot comment favorably on their knowledge of how to use the features of their equipment. I've used their stationary bike twice when I could not tolerate the cold pool. The first time I just petaled and asked for no assistance. The second time that I decided to use the stationary bike when I did not exercise in their freezing pool I asked someone to show me how to use the bike features, but he seemed unsure how to operate it. That's not a good sign about their knowledge of their own equipment. I wasn't surprised because it was on par with their knowledge of the pool in general, or why the temperature is not as advertised. About the pool, unfortunately, the pool heat is sporadic. I have a pool thermometer and the on the days that I checked, the temperature range between 75 degrees to 78. This temperature range might be enjoyable by a younger age group or lap swimmers. For myself, an aging person with diagnosed arthritis, and for some elderly people cold water is like kryptonite to us. I tried to weather the cold water once and my muscles NEVER warmed up enough to meet my cardio level. Additionally, my friend got physically ill and had to go the hospital. To make matters worse, the spouts in the pool that recirculate the water did not have warm coming out as they do when the water is warm.Yes, I complained to gym management and the corporate office. The pool was heated for the classes for approximately 2 weeks. Then it was back to the cold unbearable temperature. I found it amusing to hear staff telling prospective clients touring the pool area during class that the pool is heated and is usually 82 degrees. What a bunch of crock! Here's my recommendation to folks with arthritis and are looking for a heated pool to help get fit. This is not the place for you because they have not been consistent with heating the pool. Do not believe the sales pitch about the nice warm pool. I will be contacting regulatory authorities about my concerns as the Corporate Office is either unwilling or unable to correct the lack of heat issue on a consistent basis.

My family and I have been looking into joining a gym this year and we stopped by City Sports because it's brand new just built last year so we thought we would go get a tour to see if it would be a good fit for our family. Immediately when we walked in it seemed to be nice HOWEVER the moment the guy brought us behind the counter we sat down in a cubical setting and the person was extremely personal wanting to know what our routines are, what equipment we usually use, which is fine but the way he was asking was too much. But we still took the tour. Some equipment they only had 2 of and others they had rows of. Then he took us into the cycle room and we noticed there was moldy tiles in the ceiling about to fall. Now mind you this is a BRAND NEW (just 1 year old) building. Then he took us to through the locker rooms which was small and there was not too many showers, only about 2 in both the women's and the men's. Then we entered the pool area which was indoors but the smell seemed like the pool was way over chlorinated! Which is not good for your skin. After the tour we went back to the cubical area to discuss the pricing and the guy was extremely pushy on us buying today even though we mentioned many times that we are just browsing and shopping different gyms. We told him we wanted to think about it and the guy said well we can lock in this price and you can think about it for the week but insisted we swipe our credit card. Needless to say please watch out for this gym. Seems like they are more interested in getting the sale instead of their members and keeping up on maintenance of the facilities.

the atmosphere is pretty nice. everything's generally kept somewhat clean and tidy. workers also greet me when i enter but i usually just ignore them since im locked in. but damn i feel like the guy who recruited me into the membership got my ass. bro ain't tell us about the annual fee until after we signed. and we also got charged for the previous month after signing up. also they be on a paper towel drought or something since they're always out of that too. and they're also out of their lil alcohol bottle spray things. bottle damn near half empty. oh and why are all the weight labels missing on the dual cable machines bro. idk what weight i'm doing. oh and they needa get some new barbells. like some of the knurling is so worn out even tho it's only been like a year or two since it's been open. i think they should replace them for safety reasons. oh n one more thing, the bathrooms smell like shiiiii. like no febreeze or nothing? maybe clean the grout? idk. but it stinks. please hire a professional cleaner. but otherwise solid gym. can't complain. 10/10 on a good day. but 5/10 on a bad day

So ridiculous!! I've been a member for a few months and all of a sudden they said my account is invalid. I have to give my phone # to pull it up. I asked for a manager because the kids running the place can't fix the issue. I asked for they said the manager is in between jobs so is not available. That's a strange thing to say. All I want is the convenience my app will work properly. The kids said he'd leave message for the manager to call me. Cant believe the lack of training they provide here. Explains why most of the employees just sit around.

Disappointing. The EGF location is nice and reasonable priced...however...the new location near Elk Grove Costco, is going to be a boutique gym, and charge $180 per month!Cal Fit and 24 Hour Fitness are mismanaged dumps. Broken equipment, place hasn't been cleaned in years... City sports has the opportunity to steal members from those two places... But not with $180 monthly fees!

If you're considering signing up for any membership or training with this company, think twice and do your research on competitors.TL;DR:1. When signing up for membership and training, they offer different rates but will likely try to sell you more expensive options. We were initially quoted $240 for a month with three training sessions, which was later lowered to $180. We were then offered six training sessions for $180; however, the contract only specified three sessions for that price. We later discovered there are even lower rates available.2. Do NOT sign a contract right after a workout. Come back with a fresh mind. If they're pressuring you for a "deal" that only lasts today, clearly, it's not beneficial for you but it is for them. Before signing a contract, ensure that everything you verbally agree on is also included in the contract. Otherwise, you might find yourself misled.3. Customer service and gym staff are primarily focused on making money, even if it means providing misleading information. They employ predatory practices through their sales teams to defraud customers. I came in on August 14th to the 8438 Elk Grove Florin Rd location for a workout and a free training session that was offered when registering for the gym for the first time. Afterwards, I spoke with Orphieus, who was the training director and representative at the time. When offered the plans, I did not want to sign up, but he proposed two training sessions a week if I signed up for the price of one at $180 a month. This means instead of the 3 sessions for a month at $180, I would receive 6 sessions a month at $180. I agreed, but I thought it was strange when signing the contract that it only showed three sessions a month. He assured me, "Oh, don't worry about it. I'll get you an extra training session a week; we can just coordinate it together." This should have been a red flag, but I thought it would be a great value to receive two training sessions a week. Unfortunately, after a workout when you're getting back into the swing of things, you're winded and your brain is lacking oxygen, clearly this can leave you mentally incapacitated or cognitively impaired for some time. After signing up, things went well, and I received the two training sessions a week as promised--until I learned that Orphieus left the company, three weeks after I signed the agreement. After his departure, I was informed, "These were complimentary lessons; I can't promise that the new PT director will honor them." I've also heard from other members that he signed them up under the same circumstances.Fast forward to the weekend after I learned of his departure. I was directed to speak with Tro, the new Training Director. He said he couldn't provide any services beyond what was outlined in the contract. Fair enough; I'm not going to hold that against him since he's new. He then informed me that my only option was to cancel since the contract wasn't being upheld and that he would note the request in my account. He wasn't able to process the cancellation in the gym but mentioned that corporate could handle it for me. I was then given the direct line for Fitness International to seek assistance with this matter. My first call was on a Saturday, where I was told to call back on Monday because there were no managers working on the weekends. No problem. I called back on Monday and spoke with Jaeger, who noted the incident and asked for screenshots of the text messages exchanged with Orpheus. However, the email he provided bounced back, so I called again and spoke with Karen, who gave me a different email address to send the photos.I then received a call back stating that the JPEGs I uploaded could not be opened. No problem; I'll resend them in screenshot form. After sending those, as well as attaching the JPEGs as files, I did not hear back from them. Three days later, I called back and spoke with Kristen, who asked for the screenshots again. Not an issue; I can send them again. After sending them, I waited until the following Wednesday (six days later) before calling back. This time, I spoke with Aliyah (or Aleeyah; I'm not sure of the spelling) and asked about the status of the photos. I was told that I can cancel but I'll be charged an early cancellation fee (50% of the remaining balance) because I signed a contract providing me with three training sessions for $180 a month. They said they couldn't verify what was promised to me, so whatever I said was considered null. At this point, I'm done. This was never about the money; it was about making right what was promised to a customer. Yes, I should have walked away instead of signing that contract until they honored their commitments, but in California, verbal agreements are upheld just as much as written contracts. It's surprising that the text messages I inquired about weren't even mentioned, as if they didn't matter.
