Wow, I have not updated my review of this place even though I have been several times since. Our most recent visit was sooo good! We both ordered chow mein. Mine was the house which included 3 large shrimp, beef, chicken and thin pieces of BBQ pork. Just a little bit of veggies, no egg and perfectly cooked (I really hate soggy noodles) fat noodles!!! VERY DELICIOUS! My partner had the shrimp chow mein and it had a lot of large shrimp. He loved it too! $15 each plate.I think the best part of the visit was seeing the friendly staff interact with the regulars dining in and there were many! It was like family and made me want to become a regular so I can chit chat with the staff too. I mean I could anyway but there is something to be said a out having a nice rapport with the staff at a place you frequent regularly. And the food is delicious so there is that!Next time we will order the family meal where for $8 more we could get soup and appetizers with the choice of our two mains.Still a great place! Will be back!

China City serves up solid "old school" Chinese Americanized food. Classic dishes with familiar flavors. They're a family ran restaurant. It's a no frills place, basic interior. It has a worn look. But evertime I drop in, the place is busy. It has a welcoming vibe. Excellent service. I was totally stoked that they offer shrimp with lobster sauce. And even better, it tasted spot on. Shrimp served in a thick, savory, silky sauce with ribbons of cooked egg. Yum. But I got to say that the texture and taste may not be appreciated by all. Acquired taste. I sure do like it though. Plus for folks unfamiliar with this dish, it doesn't contain lobster. Fun food history: It's called lobster sauce because it was created as a sauce to enhance and accompany lobster dishes. (Kinda like spaghetti sauce don't actually contain spaghetti). Not a lot of Chinese restaurants in Folsom serve this, and if they do, it's not as good as theirs. Another thing to note is that the lunch special is served on weekdays as well. Lunch specials are served with a fried egg roll, soup choice of hot n sour or egg flower soup and choice of white or pork fried rice. The serving size is generous. Basic, classic flavors.

Hands down best Chinese I've ever had. I came through with my grandfather and got the general chicken, fried rice and hot n sour soup. The chicken was cooked perfect. Crispy and spicy! The rice was cooked the best I've ever had. The portion was huge. I took home more than half. Highly recommend!!

Strange how every time I take a friend of this place they really love it. And my family when they come to town they always want to eat here. Making them happy makes me happy. So I grew to like this place too. I probably would have thought it's just like any other Chinese place but everyone else I know seems to really take to it, so I like taking people here. It's delicious.

I was recently in town to service my Subaru and decided to get some lunch beforehand. I have been craving good Chinese food and China City caught my eye. According to their description, they have been family owned and operated since 1998, and I love nothing more than supporting a family-run Chinese restaurant. I was drawn to the lunch specials and wanted to try their Mongolian beef. China City is tucked away in an older strip mall close to ForkLift. It's very dated on the exterior but clean. There's a good amount of parking along the fence and on the side of the restaurant itself. The interior has the classic Chinese restaurant look and the booth that I got seated at was very comfy. I was offered both tea and water, but I only chose water as it was a warm day. I was ready to order as I already knew what I was getting (Mongolian beef lunch special and house chow mein), and for the soup I chose hot and sour. It was brought to my table pretty quickly. I really enjoyed the big pieces of egg in my hot and sour soup, and the flavor was just fine, your typical hot and sour, but it hit great. I finished my bowl quickly and waited for my main courses. My lunch special and house chow mein came at the same time. The food was piping hot and I was so excited to dig in. I was not expecting too much in terms of the flavor, as how good can Chinese food from Cameron Park be, but China City highly deserves its rating as the best Chinese food. I first tried the fried rice, and it was so flavorful, much more flavorful than most other Chinese restaurants do their fried rice. The Mongolian beef was superb, and the meat was sooo tender. It even came on a bed of crispy rice noodles, just as I like it. It was also perfectly spicy. The egg roll was super hot, I had to wait a few minutes for it to cool a little so I could pick it up and eat it. It was very crispy and the filling was good. Now the house chow mein, again I was not expecting too much, but wow, upon first bite, it was extremely delicious. This is the kind of chow mein that is bold and flavorful with the "wok hay" that so many other Chinese restaurants lack. The noodles were thick and springy, and I couldn't stop eating them. It was unlike any other chow mein I've had and I've had a ton of different Chinese food. Of course I couldn't finish all of the food I ordered, so I took the rest home. For $13 for the lunch special and $15 for the house chow mein, the prices are slightly higher than one would be used to, but the food is quite worth it and I am more than happy to pay their prices for such good food. I need to bring my husband with me next time we are in the area as he also loves Chinese food and he would definitely rave about this place too if he could try it. We will be back (hopefully soon)!!

This place is the place we always get the alt and pepper spare ribs, everytime we have a gathering or potluck that I do not have much time to think of what to bring or cook, the spare ribs are always the best seller for the crowd. Restaurant may not have the best location but people come for their food.

I love their food and the service is consistently good. They are quick, kind, and fairly affordable. It's a great place for a meal that isn't too fancy but several steps up from greasy fast food options.

Stopped in here on Father's Day, as I take my dad out to eat every year. This year he wanted chinese food, and he's seen good reviews of China City on online. While the outside is a standard strip mall chinese restaurant, the inside was very clean and spacious. The staff was very polite and attentive, multiple people attending to keeping our drinks filled and clearing plates. We decided on family dinner B, my dad getting General Chicken, and I got Garlic Chicken. Family dinner B comes with soup, pork fried rice, an egg roll, and fried shrimp. Everything was so wonderful! I especially loved the flavorfulness of the Three Combo Chow Mein. The only item I was kinda eh about was the Pork Fried Rice. I will definitely make the drive from El Dorado Hills to eat here again, I've been looking for a new chinese restaurant to be a regular!
