For those of us who grew up in the area, there was a rumor that he would shoot rock salt if you came on the airfield. Not true!

Charlie Jensen Park is located in the "Land Park " neighborhood of the City of Sacramento. The park is 2.68 acres in size and is part of the City of Sacramento Parks & Recreation District. The park was named after Charlie "Red" Jensen. Charlie Jensen was the first licensed airplane machanic in the State of California and was honored for his contributions to this regions aviation history. With the parks locations being at the end of a cul-de-sac, I was glad to see that the park was being monitored by security cameras. The amenities of the park are : an small open space area, a shaded picnic area, a play area with aviation inspired features, and a nature's trail. For me the trail was kind of scary. The trees and bushes were too overgrown for my comfort ! I felt like someone or something can pop- out anytime. For your safety , Always visit parks and trails during daylight hours only !

Great little dead end park at the end of a trail. Jensen Park is smaller than most but it still has everything a kid could ask for! Equipped with a tire swing, a couple toddler/baby swings, climbing station and playground w/ a slide will keep your kids busy for awhile. There's even a patch of grass if you want to lay a blanket down or kick around a soccer ball. What I call a climbing station will definitely get the juices flowing (I know because I climbed it myself)! This small park is definitely an active playground.I probably wouldn't recommend letting your kids play alone as I would imagine homeless people living nearby. The park closes at Sunset and the parking isn't huge but neither is the park or the foot traffic here so I don't think it's a problem.

This park is important for rail enthusiast because the Sacrament Southern Railroad actually runs through it. Much of this line is targeted for destruction.Hopefully this section of the line will be preserved. Much of the line is in grave danger of being either paved over or buried under decomposed granite. This park is also of great interest because there is an important drainage canal on the east side of the park. This canal flows all the way to Reichmuth park after it crosses the Sacrament Southern Railroad(SSRR) line just south of the parkCharlie Jensen park marks the end of what rail enthusiast call "the heart of the NIMBY empire" because it is at the far southern end of Parkvillage street.
