Saw Georgiana & Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley. Lovely performance, talented and energetic artists, cozy venue, comfy seats, and a sweet story. The perfect experience to get into the holiday spirit. The seats are cozy and the performance area intimate, so plan accordingly. Layers are recommended but they have a nice HVAC system. Food and beverage for sale on site an hour before the performance. Fairly priced for a captive audience, but above what you'd pay at a grocery store.

This was my first time visiting here. I didn't know what to expect. Greeted by friendly hosts. Surprised how tiny the theatre was but it was PERFECT! Loved being so close. Seats were comfortable. I cannot wait to go back! We saw English. Wonderful story. And great actors! Brilliant.

First time at @capstage, to see the evening performance of "THE HOMBRES" on 6/2/23 with my college friends to support our guy, Elio Gutierrez-Montoya who played Pedro! Online ticketing was easy, could either print the e-ticket, or will-call at the venue. Street parking enforced until 8pm, and this was a Friday 8pm showtime. There is a public parking lot across the street on J which is $5 for the first hour. There is a courtyard near concessions to wait until the show starts. Yelp check-in on the app says $1 off a drink or snack, I didn't purchase so can't say if this is still being honored. Very small theater (intimate, maybe 150 seats?) with three main sections (semicircle) around the stage (2 aisles), but the use of minimalist staging was superb! Honestly I can't even remember if the actors had microphones or not! The seats are close together and the internal climate control does stay chilly. There was no intermission for our show. I didn't use their restroom so can't comment on that. Overall happy to support a great local theater! "A look at the intimacy of male relationships through the point of view of Machismo culture, THE HOMBRES follows Julián, a gay Latino yoga teacher, as he clashes with the Latino construction workers outside his studio --particularly the older head of the crew, Héctor, who seeks from Julián something he never expected."The Hombres show closed (sold-out) on Sunday June 4th, but I'll keep an eye out for future plays here!

Great little theater in a small but cozy and well-designed space. We bought seasoned tickets on a whim because they were so affordable, and yesterday we went to see the Chinese lady. Loved the show, loved the ambiance, and the intimacy of the theater. Some plays need that intimacy so you can real;ly connect with the material and the performance. Definitely the case with "the Chinese Lady". The seats are a little crampy if you are over 6 feet and 200 pounds so be forewarned, but the performance was so on point it didn't matter. It's also in a great midtown location, close to restaurants and a coffee stand, etc. I do wish the price for a glass of wine was a little lower but that's my only gripe.

The theater is small but it has space in the back for drinking before any shows. The seats are very close together and it gets cold. I dozed off for a few minutes during the show because it was cold and the lights were dimmed. LOL! Prices for their shows are reasonable and I will definitely come back here again for a play.I go on a Sunday because it's not hard to find parking. The theater is also close to restaurants and bars if you feel like a before or after show dinner and drinks. I like this theater. I will be back.

Many moons ago, I used to be a subscriber to this great theater company (back when it was called the Delta King Theater). I loved their productions and the intimate setting. Eventually, I let my subscription go.This week I decided it was time to give it another try, and the show was excellent! This is a great theater company that does high quality productions in an intimate setting. Seats are super reasonably-priced, and they have cocktails and a lovely outdoor lounge area -- perfect for the mild Sacramento climate.Give it a shot -- hard to beat the price and vibe, and the quality of the shows!

Its easily to be missed if you never been to this place. But I found it because of the adress 23 and j street. Outside doesn't look all glam but the show is what's important. .We circled around the neighborhood for parking. We finally found one on a Sunday evening. .So we went inside, we got our tickets from the front desk. Then we head on into the theater. .The show I watched was called viet gone, so the play has minimal props and has a good story line. .We had about 4 rows of seats maybe 30 to 40 seats per row and they aren't that spacy so you might rub legs and elbows with others. .Bring a coat because it might be chilly in the middle of the show or end of the show. It might be hot in the beginning because everyone is hustling and bustling trying to get to their seats and etc. I was warm the whole time because I get hot easily. .The sound system was ok nothing spectacular but put on a good show or play when music or noise is needed for the background. .There was intermission where we can grab snack and alcohol. I took a quick glance and the drinks were quite pricey like maybe 9 bucks for wine if I saw correctly but not too sure. .Restroom had 2 urinals and one inside sit down fyi if you need to go to the restroom so during intermission it was busy and line out the door for men and women. .Overall I had a good time. A new experience. A new place. And watched a good play on a Sunday evening is a fun event. Thanks for reading and let me know where you like to watch a play, show, and etc in what theater or location?

Time for an update!I've been buying Season Tickets to CapStage ever since my truncated season and they have only improved since then. Michael Stevenson, formerly of B St, has taken the Artistic Director mantle and has run with it. Each season has had only one play I didn't like and that play hasn't come yet this season. He's also added so much beyond that, including the delightful Graham-a-Rama. His tenure here also means we'll see at least one show every season starring his awesome wife, Jamie Jones.B St has the new theatre and the cachet, but there is no better theatre company in Sacramento than Capital Stage right now.

This is a dishonest company. I purchased a flex ticket subscription that stated "choose your dates as you go and choose any performance". When I contacted them to go to my first show, I was informed it only applied to the season in which it was purchased, and that it could not be transferred to the next season. This was not stated when I purchased the tickets. Thank goodness for American Express. They quickly refunded my $200 after disputing the charges.

Wow! What great productions! This theater company has always produced wonderful shows with intellectually and politically provocative content. Recently, they have become even more impressive by adding diverse casting and being intentional about infusing representation and inclusivity into every production. As a lesbian interracial couple, my wife and I have been long-time supporters of this theater and will likely be lifelong supporters at this rate. Thank you Capital Stage for making your platform count.
