California Catering

We hired California Catering Company of Auburn, California in June 2017 for our son's rehearsal dinner and the next day for the wedding appetizers (as our son had already chosen someone for their dinner before we knew of California Catering Company). All I can say is California Catering Company is top notched! The handled everything from the set up to the cleanup. Amanda and Al came to our home and met with us to view our home venue. To see where the appetizers and beverages would be set up to the sit-down dinner area. Amanda added a special touch with napkin inserts with the bride and grooms names, initial and menu wrapped on the top of the napkin. It looked beautiful!After the rehearsal dinner, I hired them for a holiday luncheon in December 2017 and a networking dinner event in November 2017. I'll be using them again in May 2018 for a Cinco de Mayo event and again in the end of 2018 for a retirement dinner. Can't say enough great things about Amanda and Al of California Catering Company. Their food presentations are stunning!

Al and Amanda are amazing! They catered a wedding for us in 2013 (see review below) and another yesterday. Yesterday's event presented significant delivery and set-up challenges, but they smiled and said "no problem". Once again, tri-tip to die for! So tender, no knife needed. (even good cold the next morning) BLT bite appetizers had everyone talking. Everything on the menu (Bruschetta Bar, BLT Bites, Green Salad with Strawberries and Avocado, Tri-tip, Cedar Plank Salmon, Grilled Asparagus, Potatoes Au Graten) was perfect. Beautiful presentation, amazing clean up! These folks no how to do it right!

I would not recommend them, I was planning my rehearsal dinner, and just like the review below that is "not recommended" I emailed them and then called them, a couple days later I did get a response and she took my order which was only for about 26 people and an express delivery so maybe it wasn't on their top priority list. I didn't get an e-mail back until about two weeks later from Amanda giving me a quote for one pasta, one salad and bread. At this point we already hired Bucca di Beppo, but I looked at the quote and it was so much higher then Bucca (Bucca also offered more food) and besides that they were asking for a $500 no-refund deposit. The entire meal was about $388 so did they really want me to pay $500 just because it didn't reach their quota? I didn't even ask, I am just thankful that they took so long in getting back to me that I looked at other places.

I hosted a surprise 50th birthday party at a local brewery without a kitchen. Amanda was super helpful in the planning process to suggest ideas and alterations on my requests to account for the lack of kitchen, time food would be available, and set up needs. The food was great - and people talked about the candied bacon for days! Thanks to you and your team for making this an unforgettable experience and event for the birthday boy!

We hired California Catering for my mom's 60th birthday party. Since we live in Sacramento, but the party was in Auburn, we were a little undecided as to whom should provide the food. After working with the owner, she designed a customized meal just for the occasion.Not only was the food absolutely delicious, the staff showed up on time, were super friendly and efficient. There was plenty of leftovers which were devoured by our family the following day.I can't recommend them enough. Definitely worth every penny spent.

We hired California Catering for my father in laws 100th birthday. The party was held in our home. And , because of the variety in the ages (3-100), of the attendees, we decided appetizers and desserts, were the way to go. The food was incredible! Everyone, and I mean every last one, (yes,even the three year old), raved about the food. And the service was ubelievable! Amanda and her crew managed to weave their way, through the crowd, without being noticed! The only thing that they couldn't take care of..was the foggy weather. But if it was possible, I have no doubt they would have! We are so glad we went with them, we HIGHLY! recommend them!Great job Amanda!Pamg

My family was planning a memorial service for my grandmother about a month and a half in advance, and this company was recommended to us by our venue. I initially sent in the form on their website for a quote. Never heard from them. My father called and they finally returned the phone call, but the woman was cold and didn't seem interested in our questions. It was just a bad vibe. She told us she would put together a quote and email us her menu ideas. A week later after no email or call from them, my grandpa called to check in. Never got a call back. It is now three weeks later and have not heard from them. We were looking at spending around $4,000, but they could be looking for higher-end events...? Not sure, but either way, a phone call would have been nice. Obviously we have booked another catering company at this point. This is my first Yelp review. I never complain about customer service, but this was ridiculous. Will not recommend to anyone.

Very good food very nice people very good service. We hired them for our wedding reception they did a great job and made sure the bride and groom were taken care of. The crab cakes are awesome. We would definitely use them again

Can't say enough about Amanda Lutton and team. We had a 70th anniversary which ended up being a Celebration of Life party and no matter what I threw their way, they handled it beautifully. I'm not saying you should do this, but I changed the menu, the service, the cake, and ended up having California Catering coordinate the tent and all rentals and the flowers. I gave Amanda A LOT and she was brilliant and followed through on everything. Logistically, she was wonderful, and day of, she was pleasant and professional and brought along a team just like her: attentive and delightful. The food was delish and well-received by all and service was a 10. I give California Catering two T's for: Trustworthy and tasty!
