Discovered this spot thanks to the Yelp community, in my quest to support local businesses while traveling. Went yesterday, and returned today... Excellent espresso drinks, and "the best croissant in town" per my hostess Victoria. She is not wrong, folks. You have to walk through the lobby of a high-rise office building, but don't let that stop you. Head in for a great coffee, delicious breakfast food, pleasant conversation, and as a bonus some really nice tunes playing in the background. Cheers!

I've been searching for the perfect chocolate croissant in Sacramento and saw that Yelp recommended Cafe a Cote as one of the top 10 so I had to check it out. At $4.35, it's on the higher end pricing wise. It's quite large and filling. The chocolate to pastry ratio is decent, if not generous.Aside from croissants, I usually go to Cafe a cote for their lunch sandwich special. Alas, my favorite sandwich here is no longer the cheapest around the downtown area ($5.50!), but still yummy (it's the bread!).The interior has cute decor, clean with plenty of seating. It's great for a work meeting since it's located close to the capitol and on the quieter side. Service is good.

Lunch break. Needed to get to go sandwich with some others and were in a time crunch. Asked if they could get our order done in the amount of time and were assured it was no problem. Well big problem and then although everyone paid separately, they charged people a "group fee" for take out? Not only that a few of the orders were wrong but you guessed it, no time to fix it so walked away with something not ordered. There was other stuff as well and they didn't seem to care or refund the "group fee".

I had little time before I was off for another night of flying so I walked to Café Á Cōté. The Brasserie is across the foyer and is a formal version which I definitely will be visiting when I return to SAC in a few weeks. The menu is the same as the central kitchen for both. I was too late for a Croquet Monsieur or Madame sadly. I settled on the PDG Burger and Ahi. The burger prepared MR and was perfect in every way. The Ahi was seasoned nicely with a vinegar aioli on the side. A bit strong but used in moderation paired nicely. The Café obviously is nice for mornings with coffe and a fresh croissant.

The food and coffee were tasty! The servers were polite and patient, and it's right next to some state government buildings so it was kind of nice/interesting to hear other customers tell each other "Good morning, Senator."

This "restaurant" is actually a bar/coffee shop that serves food from the restaurant next door (Brasserie Du Monde). So, your food with be delivered in a random order apparently when they get to it. A two top was seated and order before we'd arrived. Then then the two of us ordered. Later a single gentleman came in and order. The single guy was served immediately. Then a bit later the two top ahead of us. And much later, we were served. I'm not sure how the kitchen organizes their tickets. As far as the food, my husband ordered the Le Bello Portobello with fries. It had good flavor and he enjoyed it. I ordered the Croque Monsieur (added an egg making it a Croque Madame). Sadly, it was so hard on the bottom that I had to cut off the bottom part. The cheese was broiled nicely, but somehow was lacking that glorious French cheese feel. I've had so many delicious, melty Croque Monsieur or Croque Madame sandwiches over the years and this one didn't stand up to any others I've had. It was basically a dry ham sandwich with mustard and pickle inside and a slab of melted cheese on top with a fried egg plopped over the cheese. Meh at best.

Stopped in to get coffee as we had dinner reservations at the main restaurants Brasserie Du Monde, but decided to stay at the Cafe and ordered our dinner there. For New Years eve, it was quiet and nice for us to enjoy our dinner. The steak frites was flavorful from the sear char on the steak; probably of of the best prime ribs I've had. The filet was delicious as well and the sauce complimented it very well. The bread was so tasty and moist, I learned they make their own bread there! I will be back again.
