Rachel M. "After being a longtime client of 24 Hour Fitness, I was on the lookout for a new gym after moving in with my fiancé in east Sacramento a few months ago. I stumbled across ESF after doing a Yelp search for nearby gyms and was so surprised to see that this gym was only 10 minutes from me! I decided to take a chance and sign up as a new member right away. One of my buddies had been going to ESF already for a month or two, so I completely trusted his recommendation that I just sigh up as a member instead of trying the weekly trial first. I'm glad that I took the chance because I LOVE this gym. The equipment is clean, everything is well organized, the staff is friendly, their online booking system is easy to use, and it's completely safe during these strange Covid times. This gym goes above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of their clients and I'm so glad to be able to get my fitness on since it's so important for my mental health. I don't do any "fancy" kind of workouts and ESF has everything I could possibly need to get the job done. After my first week as a new client, I canceled my membership with 24 and I've never looked back. I am more than grateful to support the smaller, locally owned neighborhood gyms. Thank you, ESF!"

Federico M. "I really want to rate this place one star just so people won't go to it. I love the fact that it's not crowded and I am a bit selfish in that way. It's one of my best favorite fitness centers in Woodland -the classes, equipment, the trainers, the hours and the cost is perfect."

Emily G. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at my new gym. I love the yoga classes with Michelle and many of the cycle classes. I think they need more classes now. I joined earlier this year with intentions of losing the Covid weight and I have definitely succeeded in that! 20+ lbs with a little instruction, a few good teachers and a lot of motivation. Only caveat is there's no pool like my previous gym but they have childcare which is nice. Thanks City Sports :-)"

Gregg R. "Our group visited this location as part of a team building event. Check in was a breeze. You have to sign a waiver and they need to double check your ID but after that you are good to go. Staff was helpful and friendly. This place? Wow big open and nice airy location. Lots of space and chairs. Our group had a nice location set up for the event and multiple staff members to help out the littles. This place also has a cafe and some beers on tap which is just another awesome addition. Bathrooms were clean and they also had locker rooms. Add to the equipment they had around and this is really great place for workout or exercising. One final thing is that they allow outside food, so for events you just pay for that and all the food and drinks are up to you.Quite an awesome place for a group team building event!"

Ada C. "First time at the studio and it was a great experience! First off, the facility is clean and organized. The team is very welcoming. I took the kettlebell class with Coach Danny and it was so good! They explain all the movements clearly before starting, and then help you modify/tweak/correct you as you're doing it. Great music and enviroment! The other classmates were also very kind and welcoming. I felt really comfortable throughout the class time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for great gym in Sacramento. They have other classes like hot Pilates, yoga, and open gym. Definitely trying the hot Pilates next!"

Katie O. "My experience at natomas yoga was interesting compared to experiences at other yoga studios. I would say to make sure you are okay with all of the studio rules before taking a class here because they are different than other studios. The first rule I found interesting is that you can only drink water when the instructor tells you to even in hearted (107 F) classes. They normally let you drink water every 4 poses. The next rules is that if the heat is too much for you may not step out of the class. They are very strict with these rules. Also their heated classes is with the lights fully on and the instructor will only let you do the poses they say the way they want you to do them, unlike other studios where instructors let you feel your body and do what feels best. Everyone has different preferences but having classes with these rules is not my preference. On a different note everyone was nice and welcoming I just prefer heated classes in a darker room where I can drink water as I please and listen to my body."

Courtney P. "After finishing my introductory month ($79 for your first month for new members), I was hooked. I signed up for a year of unlimited classes at Purely Hot Yoga and I love it! They offer a nice variety of classes: vinyasa, yin, Pilates (both HIIT Pilates and Pilates with weights and bands), and hot yoga. All of their classes have some element of "heat" to them, except yin yoga. They have a nice variety of well-trained instructors, each with their own vibe. Classes are offered throughout the day, seven days a week. Signing up for classes is easy through the app. The studio itself is clean and modern. There are showers, restrooms, and cubbies to store your stuff. I cannot recommend Purely Hot Yoga enough, especially if you are looking to get back into practice after taking some time away, like myself."

Kevin B. "My tennis team recently played here for NorCal Sectionals. Wow - this place isn't a tennis club... it's a tennis compound! It's perhaps the biggest, most complete racquet club I've ever been to. But don't let its large size intimidate you. Johnson Ranch is also one of the best managed clubs I've ever visited.Pros:- plenty of parking- two comfy clubhouses- huge gym (with all the machines you could hope for)- 30+ tennis courts- Pickleball courts (apparently, pickleball is the new thing)- 2 heated pools, a kiddie pool, and a couple therapeutic spas- Clean locker rooms that boast free personal care products + steam and sauna rooms.- affordable snack shack that serves sandwiches, salads, coffee, soda (including Fanta!!)- Friendly, helpful staff- Very family-friendlyAs I said before, this club is massive. In fact, it occupies two sides of Eureka Road. So make sure you park in the right parking lot."

Arra Jane S. "I love the Wellness Club! I found this cutie little studio through a coworker and haven't visited another gym since! I initially used ClassPass credits to book my classes (one week in advance). I love the variety of classes, the welcoming staff (Amani!), the motivating spin instructors (I've taken classes with Tiffany, Angela, and Meghan), the yoga instructors (Kristiana!), and the overall vibe of the studio. I appreciate the spin shoe rental and the towels available on every bike. It's helpful to have all of the equipment ready. My absolute favorite part, however, is that there's a parking lot right behind the studio to make it easy to come to class! I've taken tons of classes with ClassPass and that's something I think about a lot in the Sacramento midtown/downtown area. The Wellness Club feels modern and I feel like a very cool girl when I come! I loved it so much I canceled my ClassPass membership and became an official member!"

Emmeline W. "Found this place when my friend and I were looking for yoga classes! Admittedly, we were running late to Akasha Yoga's Yin Yoga class and saw that it was full... Thought our efforts scrambling downtown were futile... But luckily, I saw FIT House as we were driving and looked them up-- somehow, they had a Yin Yoga class at the exact same time! We rushed to FIT and the receptionist was so generous to let us attend the class 5 mins late. She was super friendly & knowledgeable, and signed us both into their system quickly.$16 for a walk-in + $3 renting a mat isn't a bad deal at all! It seems small from the outside, but FIT has a wealth of exercise equipment and rooms for classes. For our class, the room was darkened, only illuminated by a handful of candles (probably battery-powered, but atmospheric nonetheless). Our instructor, Oana, was wonderful. Accompanied by soothing music, she gently led our class into a series of poses, and eventually, into a state of relaxation (evident by the snoring by one particularly relaxed man....). We used rugs, blocks, & bolsters throughout the class. Though my friend and I were both yoga novices, Oana's class was very beginner-friendly & we were able to keep up with no problem. Even with its slow pace, we felt remarkably refreshed when we left.Afterwards, we checked out the FIT facility-- there was a lot to offer & seemed to be kept very clean! We'll be sure to come back & try something else!"

Carissa B. "I have been wanting to try out hot yoga for a while now and I always noticed this place when I drive by in the area, so I decided to check out the yelp reviews- and sure enough, the reviews were nothing but great! My friend and I decided to take an early 6:30am class with Carrie (The Breakfast Club) and it was truly motivating. We purchased the single class for $29, a little pricey for it being our first time (IMO) but it was a great experience. Upon arrival, we checked in on the kiosk and the process was super quick. They have cubbies in the lobby and also in the bathrooms which is nice. I came with my own yoga mat, but my friend didn't have one, but luckily she was able to rent one out. They ask for your car keys in exchange for a mat and towel mat. I just want to shoutout Vanessa for being so welcoming and kind to us. I also didn't know we needed a towel mat so she was nice enough to lend one to me as well, just as long as I remembered to throw it back in the hamper haha. Walking into the studio, it was super packed. We thought they might have over booked because we had no where to lay our mats at first. But thankfully, these two nice ladies up front offered to move around their mats so that my friend and I can lay next to them. Carrie was our instructor for the morning and she was really great! Her voice was really soothing and the way she led the class was really nice, by the time I ended up looking at my watch there was only 10 minutes left. So time really flew by. The heat wasn't unbearably hot, it was doable. You definitely get a good sweat out of it. And the class overall was perfect for it being my first time, no crazy moves, super relaxed and I was able to release any tension I was holding in my body. Probably not something I would do everyday, but definitely something I would like to do every month. Thanks to Vanessa and Carrie again for being so welcoming and kind, and making our first experience a good one! Tips for beginners: Bring your own yoga mat, a yoga mat towel, and some iced water :) And, be prepared to sweat!"

I found a family, fell in love with the specific Baptiste style of yoga that Spotted Dog Yoga nurtures, attended countless yoga classes both in person and online, and improved the quality of my yoga practice in every way imaginable. Not only are the classes physically challenging, but they are also mentally and emotionally rewarding. Jennifer Z. "One of the greatest things I have found to keep me motivated, inspire me, give myself the accountability is Moms in Motion!!! Want to get going but the gym is too expensive or too intimidating or monotonous? Want to find a group to inspire you and make you feel comfortable at the same time? So did I! Mom's In Motion with Wendy Hoag is awesome!!!!I also do not care too much for weight training. Personally I have chronic inflammatory arthritis issues that pulling on weight machines (or in my case, them pulling on me) caused more pain than good. So I was talking to Wendy, and she said I should try Core. I walked into her class with similar reservation as I would the gym, being early on into my metamorphosis I am still so self-conscious to be honest. When I walked out, I felt in a word... AMAZING. Because you know what? The women were awesome, and all in their own stages of their journey. There were women of every fitness level in that class, and we all sweated together, laughed together, and were inspired together. There was no judgment by any women there, except my prejudiced thinking that they would judge me. I was so wrong. Since that first class about a month ago, I can honestly say, I am addicted.Wendy makes it easy enough for beginners and challenging enough for those who are well into their journey. Everyone benefits. I had lost about 17 pounds prior to joining Core, and have lost weight since then, but even more importantly, I have lost inches! It wasn't until after I added Core to my fitness routine that people started noticing. I have learned from my very wise uncle that muscle may weigh more than fat, but it takes up a lot less real estate! It also helps you burn more calories through out your day. So don't neglect strength training, even though your cardio is extremely important to fitness, so is strength!Looking to train to get your run on? Moms In Motion has that trick up it's sleeve too! I completed my first 5K with Moms in Motion. I asked my hubby to join me because I was so scared I would hit the finish line to a rolled up Finish Line banner and the sound of crickets, but guess what? Not only did I not finish last (woo hoo!) but when I crossed the finish line all the other MIM members who finished before me were waiting to cheer me across that line! No woman left behind! This is why I truly love this group. And I truly attribute a lot of my success to varying my workouts with MIM."

John L. "I'm doing the indoor cycling classes a minimum of 2 times per week. Cathie is a great instructor - she knows her stuff and is supportive and motivating no matter what your skill level. The rides are different each time and the variety keeps things interesting. Some days the focus is on endurance, some days intervals and some days both. You definitely feel like you had a workout at the end of the class and the heart rate monitors track your progress. The biggest difference I see between PR and other facilities is the atmosphere- friendly, caring people and the other participants are nice and make an effort to know one another...not intimidating even for a first timer. You really feel like part of the group after a ride or 2. This type of class/program is likely to become part of your routine rather than something you do on an occasional basis."
