"We found out about Andrew from other moms at our school. I called and he was booked for the 2013 summer season. He informed me that he opens his books the summer before and it fills up quickly. He had one spot available for both my children to get lessons back to back (20mins each). He was very nice over the phone. We came to our first scheduled private session. $130 for 2xs a week. My daughter & son had so much fun and by their second lesson were swimming half way across his pool...yay! They were swimming! Its like watching your children walk. I was very excited. Clean pool and he is very professional but keeps the children's attention. My kids can't wait to go back."
"My family and I ended up here again after some decades past. When my mom passed away, we found ourselves cleaning up and purging a lot of old and outdated stuff in the house we grew up in. That's when we discovered my dad's old scuba diving gear. He is now 88 years old and no longer has use for said equipment. In fact, he almost forgot he still had it all buried under years of stuff until we brought it out to the light of day. Then his memories came flooding back! We called Dolphin Scuba Center and asked if they accepted old tanks from the 1960's. They said "yes"! We gathered up two scuba tanks, diving flag buoy, and diving weights. We drove down to the swim center and started reminiscing about the time our father took lessons here and got certified. Rich D. helped us unload and transport the heavy gear into their facility. He was very knowledgeable on all things scuba from it's history to the present. He was so nice to my dad and made him feel welcome and even important. We got a quick tour around the shop. It carries everything one would need for the scuba enthusiast. We also had a chance to view the pool with class in session. I even tried to take classes here when I was a teenager but failed miserably! But the main reason for this review is that my dad had a chance to reminisce about happier times in his life when he was a young and active man! Thank you Rich for making our visit positive and being able to accept my dad's equipment for the diving museum! LOL! I just couldn't bear to see it all going to the dump!"
"I have been trying to teach my son to swim independently for 3 years unsuccessfully. His swim instructor, Dolores taught my son how to swim for the first time ever!! My son loves the water and it's been such a struggle as he was never able to swim without a float or a life vest. Now my son can swim above and under water with so much confidence! He can even to a few tricks!! When he gets tired he learned how to roll over and float on his back and take a break. We had two lessons a week for 12 lessons and my son would count the days until he could be back in the water again with Dolores. She was so patient with my son who is on the spectrum and this was a huge concern of mine. Dolores was very kind and encouraging and never made my son feel defeated. I never thought I would ever see the day where my son could swim so freely on his own!! Worth every single penny and I would definitely recommend this school and instructor again and again. Job well done!! Thank you so so much!!"
"I mainly come here to swim since they have six HEATED, 25 yard lanes available! They also offer two diving pools each with meter long diving boards, a wading pool for kids six and under, indoor and outdoor showers, plus, an outdoor spa. This is a private, members-only, clubhouse so you can always fill out an application to join (http://ptswimtennis.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Membership-Application.pdf) and aside from swimming they also have tennis courts, youth swim leagues/camps, lifeguard lessons, and a ton of other activities! The neighborhood is also very SAFE so I never worry about leaving the club around closing time (9 PM). It's also open seven days a week from 8 AM - 9 PM!This clubhouse is on the smaller size but I enjoy coming here since it's close to my house and everyone is always so friendly! You can rent the entire place out for holiday parties, birthdays, work gatherings, etc. It's usually cheaper during the weekdays versus weekends. They have a nice sized dance floor and their kitchen is a big as well! In high school, my friends would host various dance and graduation parties here and they were always a lot of fun! Overall, this is a great place for families to come and spend some quality time together! It's also good for those looking to get their swim on!! I love the pools here and they always manage to keep everything pretty clean and chlorinated! :) If you don't belong to a gym and are looking for something fun to do this summer definitely look into joining Park Terrace---especially if you enjoy swimming and/or tennis!"
"I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the owner Misha and her Husband - their "why" - and to the entire safe splash staff. The patience, and care Misha and the staff showed with our son during difficult moments, was exemplary and as a parent of a child with special needs I cannot recommend nicer humans to entrust my family with, in the way we experienced the safe splash staff doing so gracefully first hand. Awareness, Acceptance, Inclusion. They are a true testament in advocating for families like ours and giving all humans a chance to experience the "good stuff" too and in a safe and giving environment of friendly staff/specialists who just "understand"."
"Literally LOVE how clean this place is, especially the pool! 24hr in Elk Grove was always dirty and cracked tile, Calfit was outdoor and cold and the one in Greenhaven ALWAYS had leaves in it. We decided to look for a nice indoor pool and this by far has been the BEST decision"
"We cannot say enough great things about Mitchell. From the moment he arrived his engagement with our sons was amazing. He was polite, friendly, and so patient. Our sons bonded with him immediately and the amount of improvement we saw in both our sons within a couple sessions was huge. Thank you to Mitchell for being a great swim coach. And as a company, Sunsational is very customer focused. We did not feel we had a great experience with the initial coach paired with us as one of our sons has autism and she wasn't a good fit. When I reached out to Sunsational they took our concern seriously and quickly found us a replacement which was Mitchell. We felt heard and would definitely recommend this school to friends and family."
"We had such a great first class! Everyone from the moment we walked in was so nice and helpful! I was so nervous my son was going to cry and have a fit during the class but everyone reassured me it was normal and okay! Looking forward to more lessons!"
"There is a little something for everyone at Tricks Gymnastics. In addition to Gymnastics, this there's swimming, dance of all kinds and kid group classes offered. I love that there are plenty of places for adults to sit and watch the kiddos. There are also plenty of water fountains so bringing water bottles aren't completely necessary. It is nice to know ahead of time if you get hot like me to know that the pool room is heated to keep the kids warm when they are out of the pool. So nice of Tricks to have outside seating next to the window so you can still see the kids as well as not be so hot in the room. I love that there is plenty of parking outside of the building too. I highly recommend this place to families with children!"
"Highly recommend for your young kids to learn how to swim!I put my two kids (ages 9 and 7) during the summer for 3 months and they both are able to swim without floaters by the end of the program. Rosie is an amazing teacher and really pushes the kids the extra mile to learn. Pricing is reasonable. They offer private and group lessons."

Andrew is the most amazing swim instructor, his patience and techniques had our four year old swimming all on her own by the end of just three weeks with two lessons per week. His safety first philosophy is very reassuring and my daughter just loved him. I am so thankful that I was referred to him and highly recommend him!!Update: We have had another, and she began swim lessons at 6 months old. He is teaching her to roll on to her back once in the water and now she is older she is making her way to the step as soon as she hits the water. Water safety is invaluable and I cannot express enough to Andrew our appreciation.

Unfortunately due to the new Stay at Home orders, the Dolphin Scuba Center is closed for the time being. So this review is for when I took my open water course last year prior to Covid chaos. To "Scuba Steve" Ramirez Jr.: Such a calm, patient and knowledgeable instructor. I had the open water dive course with him and highly recommend him. I can tell he truly enjoys scuba and teaching others. His passion is infectious. Thank you for helping me conquer my fear and finally "get" what all the fuss Scuba is about!!! To Brandon Flood (Assistant Instructor): Funny guy who also is very knowledgeable and will help you to feel comfortable. The Open water scuba course is partial classroom, partial pool practice (pool spoils you with the nice heated temp), then an open water test. You have your choice of where to take the open water course. For me since I tend to panic more in murky water, I chose Lake Tahoe which was just like being in a big swimming pool. They have equipment that they can loan you for the entirety of the class or you can bring your own. I actually brought my own that hubby gifted me and wanted me to get comfortable with. They also offer swimming lessons and fun international scuba trips.

We were a party of almost 50 and everything worked out so nicely. Starting from Meghan, who gave me the tour and facilitated our reservation. She's professional and her communication is clear. Park Terrace has made some updates by painting the room, painting the bar, and fixing some of the ceiling tiles and it made all the difference. We provided our floor plan and when we arrived, the facility, including the bathrooms, were clean and the tables were placed as requested. There were plenty of garbage cans provided. The power strip in place by the bar was dead but plugged our devices directly into the wall outlet and everything worked. As guests arrived, 3 guests immediately asked what we paid to rent the facility as they were interested in renting. It was impressive.

I was visiting from San Jose and decided to check out this YMCA while I was in town. Wow, it was so empty and all the equipment is brand new. I was able to get an awesome gym session in with no wait for cardio or weightlifting equipment. I played some basketball and racquetball too because why not?The employees were super nice and let me in on a fun fact: former CA governor, movie star, and Mr. Olympia Arnold "Governator" Schwarzenegger himself used to work out in this same building in the 2000s! Such a cool thought to think about as I was working out lol

"Our experience has been great with this company. Signing up was super easy with quick, clear text communication with Sara. They matched us with an instructor fast. We've had three swim lessons so far with Tamara, and she's patient and playful with my kids. She's helping them feel comfortable in our pool. I'm looking forward to more lessons. Highly recommend!"
"The only indoor pool in Roseville and my baby loves this pool. They have baby hours dedicated 3 times a week for a little less than 2 hours. It could be crowded on Sunday but during weekdays is empty. My baby loves the water fountain outside. The price is reasonable and the indoor makes it really nice so babies don't get sunburn as much as those outdoor ones. The only thing is that the changing table in the dressing room never gets cleaned....As they have baby sessions, they should remember to check that. There is a park adjacent to the pool as well."
"I'm generally a fast learner, but not when it comes to ANYTHING that involves my body. I wanted to be a basketball player when I was a kid, but my wrist didn't agree. I wanted to dance as an adolescent, but my feet refused, while my neck was far too excited about it. I've wanted to swim my whole life, but this body was not having it! Point is, I signed up for Beginner swim lessons with Robert with a desperate love for the water, along with a deep fear of it. Despite trying my whole life, I've never learned to swim nor float. I didn't think I could ever learn to float. Robert was highly recommended by a friend, so I took the chance. I floated on the first day and even moved around in the water a bit. By the end of the six sessions (well, five if you include the class I missed), I was stroking in the deep end. I wasn't swimming the distance of the pool (yet), but I was floating and stroking and most importantly, I was comfortable on the deep end.I'm taking Level One classes now and learning so much with each class. I'm still a slow learner when it comes to swimming, but I'm learning! Things are happening with my body! I'm in my mid-thirties and I really didn't think I'd be able to learn anything at this point. Here I am now HIGHLY recommending Robert's classes to any adult who thinks they can't learn to swim. Here you have an incredibly fun and energetic instructor with tons of patience. He will give you the personal attention you need and you will learn what you thought you couldn't. Not a single person in class, as far as I can tell, has been unable to learn something. Depending on the class, the venue will change. I've been getting my beginner swim lessons at St. Bart's. The website should have all the info."
"I really feel safe and comfortable at this community pool. That's saying a hell of a lot actually....After months and months of reclusiveness it would take the need of our daughter who didn't know how to swim to force me out of the house and into a public place for an extended period of time to do the trick.Actually if this child was biologically sprung from my loins she would have been swimming from birth. Yet I digress......There's noting worse and more dangerous then a child that cannot safely and confidently swim and hold their own in a body of water. Having said this I'm relieved to say that just after 4 trips in one week together the kid is now swimming under water, floating on her back and can swim on her back as well as dog paddle and freestyle swim the width of this spaciously clean well maintained pool.Cottage Pool is manned by at least 4-5 lifeguards each time they are opened for business. And the lifeguards rotate the parameter of the pool in an organized clockwork fashion every so many minutes and really monitor the pool as well as water slide area with a watchful eye...Every 45 minutes they blow their whistles and boot very one but anyone 18 and older outta the pool for a full 15 minutes of "adult only swim time".I like this as it gives me and our girl a chance to take a break, eat and rehydrate before jumping back in.Yes there is a water slide however in order for anyone under the age of 18 to use it they have to pass a Quick yet efficient swim test in which the person must be able to successfully swim the width of the pool without touching the bottom. If they successfully do so they are immediately issued a personalized "pass" card authorizing them to hit the slide where a lifeguard is stationed at the top of its ladder monitoring access to it.The current is swift at the bottom of this slide which I appreciate as it teaches people and kids how to swim in moving water too. There's a diving board as well which is roped off in a secured area at the farthest end of the "L" shaped pool. Here's some more helpful data:Pool availability schedule changes throughout the year:From June 8, 2015 to August 14, 2015 it's open for public swimming from 1pm-4pm MONDAY-FRIDAY 2:30-5:30PM SATURDAY & SUNDAY.From August 15, 2015 - September 7, 2015 it's open WEEKENDS Only from 2:30-5:30 PM.* Sept. 8, 2015 Labor Day; they will be open from 1-4 PM.Fees: $2.50 per person BUT they do sell a "20 Visit Punch Pass" for $40 and $36 if you're a resident of the area. However the only way to find out if you're a resident is to either call the District office at: 916-927-3802 or visit them in person @ 2201 Cottage Way, Sac.You can buy a punch pass at the gate of the Cottage Pool but it's cash only; ATM/Credit Card purchases are accepted at the district office listed above.Another cool thing to note is that the punch card pass can be used for multiple people so you don't have to buy one for each family member. They are good for the "current season only"You may be wondering: is this woman an employee there???? Ummm no no I'm not but I did intentionally observe and learn as much as I could and can about this business as I want to get the most bang for my buck and know what's available and its workings.Located right down the street from the Walmart off of the corners of Watt Avenue & Cottage Way access to it is a dream and super easy with free parking too and access to the park attached to this community pool. Bathrooms have been super clean and well stocked too unlike so many public pools can be where it looks like bombs went off in there including the floating turds left by its previous user.Or the soupy water soaked TP covering the bathroom floors; Yuck! Still have PTSD flashbacks of these scenes from my childhood at the local plunge.....So far none of this and it's been a solid week of daily visits here.Plus +1!Pack your sunscreen, snacks, towels and plenty of water as they allow you to bring stuff in just no booze; Signs are everywhere. And they super chlorinate and condition the pool water so goggles are a great idea if you like to swim under water as I didn't have them the first day and my eyes were killing me the rest of the day and night.I'd give 5 stars as I really do LoVe this place BUT I dislike how during the hottest months of the summer they cut the schedule to weekends only."
"We're so excited to start classEs here next week. Today was their open house so we had an opportunity to check out the facility and meet the staff. They have a seating area for the kids and TVs in the lobby area. Took advantage of the 8 week bundle. So excited!! Welcome to Elk Grove!!"
"The Swimstitute is the new Paradise Cove. I know one of the owners quite well and let me tell you he and his partner are motivated and dedicated to making this place THE place to be for swim instruction and training in the Sacto area. The pool is very nice with 8 lanes of lap swimming possible. It is fully indoors and the water temperature maintained at a balmy 85 degrees. There are ample locker rooms with showers. In addition to their bread and butter lessons, they offer lap swimming all day long, swim parties by reservation, and also recreational swimming for members at certain hours. They also have kayak and diving instruction at specific times, best to call and inquire. They are located next to the indoor soccer and trampoline place.I've had a good time everytime I've visited so far. The staff is friendly and helpful. Give them a visit, and tell them Anthony sent ya.(Disclaimer: yes I do know the owners, but the place still rocks)"
"Do you need a place to cool off on these hot summer Sacramento days? Or a place for your kids to get out all that energy and also cool off? How about both?! Then the Deterding Pool is your spot!! This place has 2 pools. A smaller pool that is only about 3-5 feet deep and the larger pool that is as deep as I believe 10 feet. It has a slide the water slide is in the shallower side that's about 4 ft deep. And and diving boards are obviously at the deeper end. My kids love to come in the summer and spend their hot days cooling off in the pool. It's clean, the lifeguards there are friendly and make a point to try and know the kids by name. They also have it available for parties if you fancy a swim party! There's an area you can reserve for your guests! The pool offers season passes as well.Did I mention there's a snack bar too?"
"Rancho Cordova's community pool is great for families with young children. The pool offers a great environment for both kids and adults to enjoy a refreshing swim together. Highly recommended!"
"We've had 3 children in swim lessons at Little Whale. It's the perfect introduction to the water for infants (we've started all 3 kids at 4 months) and is a fun way to have toddlers continue to be used to the water. Are my children going to fully learn how to swim here...likely not but that's not what I have them in lessons for right now. Our family spends a lot of time around the water and our time at Little Whale has gotten our children comfortable while also making our toddler aware of the water. He knows he can't swim and that it's important to have a parent nearby while being in the water. Couple things to note...sometimes it can be hard to get through via phone, but they always respond quickly via email. They're also happy to help in person when you arrive for a lesson which is great. If you don't see availability online, try contacting them since they have additional information about future openings that could be soon."
"I have very mixed feelings about SafeSplash, which is probably why I waited so long to write a review.Let me start with the positive - my son's instructor, Hailey, is wonderful. She has a very difficult job, yet from what I can see she's always patient my my son and the other students. My son is autistic with severe ADHD, so not only is it imperative for him to learn to swim and be safe around water (drowning and/or accidents are the number 1 cause of death for special needs children), but he's also difficult to teach. Which is why his progress has been so slow (he's been taking lessons 5-6 months now). But he IS making progress, so we'll stick with it a few months longer. I don't blame his instructor at all for his slow progress, I think she's doing the best she can. That said - the lessons are over priced. There's another local facility that offers twice a week lessons for HALF of what SafeSplash charges. Half. But my son loves Hailey...so for now we'll stay.Part of the issues are with the facility itself. This place is such a cluster. Most of the time lessons are held in 1/3rd of the indoor pool. There were times over the height of the summer we'd arrive and find out lessons were being held outside. That would be fine if we received notice so I could apply sunscreen, but we never once were notified. Now I *totally* understand if there's a last minute "hygiene issue" with the indoor pool (happened at least once), but the other times we should have been notified.Where they have the check-in tablet is ridiculously awkward to get to...the far left corner. You have to weave around people just to check-in. A good percentage of the time the tablet doesn't work. There's almost never enough chairs for parents to sit.The facility is dirty, the changing rooms are disgusting and get worse each week. Hair all over the floor, garbage, half eaten pieces of fruit covered with ants, cockroaches, etc. If the rooms are cleaned once a day I'd be surprised. One time we had to wait FOREVER for an open changing room (there are only 2 that I know of), only to find out there was a couple having sex in one of the two. Classy."
"First swim lesson at location and instructor did not show up. No one at 24-hour fitness knew anything about it as they are unrelated to the third-party swim school. Received an email 2+ hours after our appointment advising me the lesson was being cancelled."
"My kid goes to Steve Wallen Swim School for 1.5 years and he finally finished all the ribbons! I love that the swimming pool is big enough to accommodate the kids and the water is warm during winter. My kid has no problem with itchy skins during his lessons. The facilities (pool, changing rooms & restrooms) are always clean. The front desk people are always friendly and reply my call promptly for make up classes. My kid had 3 regular teachers during his time and several make up teachers who are all awesome! He had a hard time to learn free style and breaststroke so we changed instructor and he finally mastered it. So sometimes it really depends on the instructor's teaching style."
"I am very much a beginner and very much an adult who has let decades of fear of the water keep her from pursuing the water sports she is drawn to. My early instructor was careless and lacked compassion and empathy for those who were afraid of the water. I nearly drown in his class and that solidified my fear. Many years later I have had the good fortune to find Joe. He is exactly the opposite of that early instructor and is the sort of teacher and person I need to help me to become the skillful swimmer I hope to be. Just one class in and I was loving being in the pool and experienced a sense of increased confidence. With Joe's guidance I became comfortable and confident in keeping my head nicely submerged while kicking half way down the length of the pool. This was extraordinary for someone with intense fear of the water.I am very eager for more classes because I know that I am so much closer to achieving my swimming goals. On top of that, the classes are just great fun!"
"This is our favorite place to swim! It is clean, spacious, plenty of shaded seating areas and the life guards are great! My older boys love the inflatable obstacle courses, totally worth the $3 extra to have access to the inflatables. My youngest is working extra hard on his swimming skills, he wants to do the obstacle inflatable so much. They have a snack bar with nachos, pretzels, ice cream, candy and more! They have life jackets, so no need to bring your own. They have a younger kid play area, my boys love the red slide and playing basketball in the pool area.Another favorite is the diving boards. I highly recommend this aquatic center!"
"Our little swimmers love this swim school and Ms Kylie is the best! Very good with all levels of swimmers and my son and daughter love taking lessons with her. The facilities are top notch with lots of open room for classes and individual lessons. The kids love the slide and let me tell you, they get right after getting the kids use to getting their heads and eyes underwater. The levels and systems they have in place are fantastic Downside is that it is a bit pricey."
"We were THRILLED to partner with SwimAmerica, and gain additional coaching skills (and SONC LEVEL I National Certification.) Owner, and Coach (Rose) was exceptional. I've known swimmers from (competitive teams) over the years who have trained/worked out here. All agree, top notch. In water demonstration and guide provided by Rose was appreciated. Who knew my flip turn was rusty? Excellent staff, perfect location. I look forward to visiting in future, as Level II certified (coaching athletes with disabilities.)"
