"This is sort of a hidden gem when it comes to local Farmers Markets. It's not very large and it's off the beaten path (in the middle of a hospital complex), so it's easy miss it. There is rarely a large crowd and the market is accessible from any of the surrounding neighborhoods. Park your car or walk or bike over. The vendors are all pretty friendly and they have a great selection of your basic produce with a sprinkling of oddities like vegan desserts and an Indian food truck. Sometimes there is music as well in the form of a local singer/songwriter. In the "cons" column, the market is only about half a block long with half as much to offer. That's relatively small compared to the big boys downtown. The oddities like the Indian food truck are nice, but that selection only appeals to a certain crowd. Overall, what they do have they do right. For the casual market-goer, the UC Davis Health System Farmers Market is a perfect addition to the neighborhood."
"Pumpkin patch on steroids. Lots to choose from and you can also hit the corn maze, hay ride, meet the pony's, enjoy food stands, and shop at the fresh produce market. Highly suggest the apple cider donuts - made super fresh and deliciously warm!"
"1/10/2019: Alright, alright! "Ms. Bumbling Around London UK" wasn't advantageous at the very end of my trip due to the following reasons: 1. I contracted walking pneumonia from a Bloke riding Bus #205 to Paddington Station (The Bloke disembarked at Marylebone Hospital's ER-DOH!) on the way to Heathrow International Airport.2. At the TSA FRISKING AREA located at Heathrow International Airport: My checked-in Fliek luggage, Tumi handcarry, and Pacsafe Metro Backpack were rifled, rummaged through by the TSA Agents! I searched for my shopping ID Cards in my wallet, backpack, and Tumi handcarry- - -GONE! Waaaah!!!!! I tried going back to the TSA BUT, the TSA Agents wouldn't allow me retrieving my ID Cards! As a result of losing my ID Cards, a chaotic fiasco ensued upon arriving home . . . I couldn't receive my Co-Op 10% Discount after I filled my shopping cart full of organic groceries due to two mishaps:1. Losing my Co-Op Membership at LHR didn't help at all2. My phone numbers were transposed incorrectly via Placerville Co-Op's database for their cash registers despite, paying $300.00 for my Co-Op Membership FeeDOH! Cashier, Sera relayed a message to Manager, Victoria who sent me an E-Mail message on 1/11/2019 stating she'd rectify my 10% discount conundrum and send me a replacement ID Card! Waaaah~Sera called me a couple of hours later stating the Co-Op authorized giving me a 10% refund so, stop by and pick up your refund . . . WHOA~So Awesome!WAAAAAH~Thank you so very much for rectifying my lost ID Card conundrum by refunding my 10% discount I should have received on 1/10/2019 and soon, mailing me a new Co-Op ID Card as well!"
"This place is amazing! They have the best pies and chicken pot pies and steak pot pies, and now they have butter chicken!!!! AK was amazing and super nice, gave us samples and great recommendations! They now have a wine bar plus the beat road side snacks ever. Their beef jerky game is off the hook too, try the Korean bbq brisket beef jerky! From sauces to ice cream this place has it all, plus wonderful service. They old have curry pot pies now so I'm always stopping by when I roll through!"
"We were faithful Machado Orchards customers for years, and were crushed to see that they retired and sold the business. We've since read the Yelp reviews but decided to give this place a try ourselves to form our own opinions. The pies are extremely expensive at $35 for a whole pie and $10 for a slice. The inside shop is also very expensive...seems like this place is now geared up more for tourists dollars rather than us locals. Reception was less than welcoming and friendly. We were basically kinda ignored. So we walked around but didn't buy anything. We work hard for our dollars and since we weren't shown much value as customers we didn't part with any of our $$$"
"We love this place!!The prices are so cheap and the produce is great. They always offer free samples to.Everyone is so nice and they always help us put our boxes of produce in our car without us even asking. This place barely opened so they're slowly bringing in more and more product, but trust me they've got a good selection already. This is definitely our go to produce spot!"
"Want delicious meats and cheeses, Mexican style? Come over to Carniceria Familia Lopez.I've patronized this meat market half a dozen times over the past year. Every time I grab the taco meat (chopped, unseasoned steak) it is delicious even though there's always a few pieces of gristle. All it needs is a small amount of salt before pan frying and it's fabulous! Super fresh. Priced nice at $4.99/lb.I've grabbed an onion, lime and cilantro here in a pinch, though the produce freshness is middle of the road. The canned, dried, household and non-perishable goods are a bit pricey, but you get convenience. Best to pay cash, you'll face a $0.75 fee if purchasing with plastic for less than $5 or $10.They have fresh Mexican sweetbreads, Mexican ice cream popsicles and fresh tortillas. Look for the tortillas that don't have the fancy label. They have a faster expiration date because they have less preservatives = better flavor & fresher. I loved the flour tortillas, haven't tried the corn tortillas."
"I can't say enough good things about this place. Pre-Covid we went on a regular basis for dinner. The burgers were delicious, as were the flautas and the kiddo liked the chicken strips. They had wine, beer and food tastings from local businesses. Their smoked bbq meat was heat as well. Oh and the soups too! Insider tip: order at the bar, rather than the deli counter, and your meal comes with a beer or very full glass of wine. During Covid, they had crates of eggs from local restaurants at times when you couldn't find eggs at other stores. They also had many other supplies that were scarce at other stores. They support the community and do fundraisers for the middle school up the street. They have products from local bakeries, coffee, meat products, wineries, breweries, farms and more. I love having a neighborhood store and recommend checking them out."
"Fall fall fall! I love fall! Happy to have a fall birthday since it's like celebrating all season long ehehehe. Anyway, about this ranch. It has a nice little open-air produce shop. Currently there is a bunch of pumpkin varieties for sale (huge boxes of 'em filling up almost half of the whole shop!). There's also a pumpkin patch here but it didn't seem like it was open at the time that I visited (Friday afternoon) as I saw no one walk towards it. Perhaps it's open only on weekends. The even bigger highlight of this place though (and that's not necessarily fall-exclusive) is its corn. I saw shop staff organizing corn that arrived straight from the cornfields here. Got a pre-sorted brown bag of 8 (white corn variety; there are others available as well). Compared to the ones found at grocery stores, the kernels are smaller but they're softer, more sweet, and more flavorful. I got my parents to try a few since they really like corn and I consider them as the better corn connoisseurs (or should I say....."CORNnoisseurs?" Okay I'll see myself out). They thought the same things about the corn as well!No parking fee here. This ranch isn't too far of a drive particularly if you're in Rancho Cordova or on the east side of Elk Grove. Definitely recommend stopping by here especially if you're looking for some pretty good corn!"
"This Orchard was featured in a PBS show recently and I promptly ordered a few shipments of their Persimmon for delivery... A few shipments of Fuyu Persimmons (the larger, pear shaped ones) for family, and a batch of "Hoshigaki" dried persimmons for myself. You can order by sending in a check (no credit cards- they are a small family run operation) and you get personalized service. Very, very cool. I haven't visited in person yet, but their website is well done. It's a great little piece of Japanese-American history, and I can't wait to enjoy the Hoshigaki (dried) persimmon, which they have promised to ship by the end of November or so! For a very unique gift idea that supports local farmers, it doesn't get much better than this!******Update: I rec'd my dried (Hoshigaki) persimmons, and they disappeared within a week! yum! Be aware, the seeds are very very sharp, so be careful careful! They were so sweet and plump and persimmon-tastic!"
"Nice people with delicious food! Fulton Green opened years ago with the attached restaurant inside. I drive by the market many times and saw the restaurant with a outdoor BBQ station there. I finally tried them out today. Excellent foods and very nice people work there! I saw the outdoor seating every time when I drive passed the Fulton Green Market with the big outdoor BBQ station. I thought all they have is few tables and chairs at the sidewalks right next to the market. I found out I'm wrong today! They have a very nice indoor dining area inside. Clean and comfortable! I ordered the combination plate today with beef and chicken. OMG! It is so delicious and not as salty as many Kabobs restaurants. Both the beef and chicken was very juicy and coated with carbon BBQ tastes. This is one of the best tasty Kabobs beef and chicken I have enjoyed! The lady who take my orders are very friendly and helpful. She also bring the food to my table. I'm enjoyed my lunch there with very good food and service!"
"Great, fresh, picked within hours. Grew up working on my grandparents small strawberry farm and this is about as good as it gets. Big plus, super hard-working, lovely people. Spend your money here!"

Let's get this straight...for pure selection and year round access, you can't beat the Sunday "under the freeway" farmers market. So let's not even get our hopes up for something at that level. But we're talking Thursday evenings (3pm - 7:30pm) here ... live music, food vendors, and a decent variety of offerings from many of the same farms you'll see under the freeway on Sundays. Bring your bike, or check out the free parking at the adjacent Shriners Hospital.Last Thursday, we sampled cheeses, fresh berries, bought fruits and vegetables, and tried out the Venezuelan arepas (a lighter version of a sope, with the masa folded around the filling like a soft taco) and some fresh squeezed lemonade. At this point, the crowds are small - as in, there aren't any. I hope to see more people catching on to this great idea. Kudos to UC Davis Medical Center for putting this all together.

I can't believe how close this place is yet I've never been. I'm so glad we took a Friday afternoon to visit. Thinking it would be a slow time we ended up visiting during school field trip time. It was pretty busy but no problem at all we were here to have fun. Let's start with the service: I've read some reviews that have bashed this place for being coy or rude. I did not experience any of that. At entry the lady was very nice and took the time to explain what our entrance fee comes with as well and let us know exactly what would cost extra and wait times due to school field trips. She was very thorough and made sure we followed the hot spots on the map as a visual. We did the pillow bounce. The small hay maze, the pony ride ( cost extra) the people running the ponies are the best. Had great conversations about their ponies and what they do on their off times. the dried corn play, the goats, the pigs, the pyramid. The kids enjoyed this place it was plenty for them (they are younger 5yr &7yr) we opt out of the bigger maze and the ride to pick pumpkins and they still had a blast s what better way to finish it off with a fresh apple cider donut probably the best I've had. They do have food offerings that smelled pretty good but i was only here for the donuts lol. Weekends have more activities and an additional snack bar that are close during the week

Who would have thunk it that little ole Placerville has a food co-op? But they do and it is quite impressive. Well anyway, I was impressed on my first visit. I have been to the downtown Sacramento and Davis food co-ops. So on comparison to those...I was impressed. Right off the bat, I noticed that the parking lot has covered parking with solar panels. How green is that!? Plus the building itself has solar panels. Great! The inside footprint is compact but stocks quite a lot of inventory. They have a salad bar, deli area for made to order food item and fresh pressed juices, organic produce section, bulk foods-grains/nuts/legumes/herbs/spices/teas, snacks, bread, cereals, herbal supplements, homeopathic medicine, personal hygiene products, and makeup...and so much more. I was looking for a particular homeopathic product. The staff helped me search for the product on the shelf and in the back stock. They didn't find it. They even offered to call me back the following day after checking with their manager. Awesome customer service. Great follow through. Friendly bunch.

This place is AMAZING! My fiance and I stopped here randomly on our way to Christmas dinner because I saw there was fresh pie, and we were blown away. From the incredibly diverse selection of homemade pastries and desserts, to the incredible chicken and meat pies, to the complimentary chai tea, everything about this place screams "hidden gem". Sue in the bakery and the two younger gentlemen running the register made what could have been a boring trip to the store, a truly special and lovely experience that left us with the biggest smiles as we walked out with arms full of pie. We will be stopping here every single time we pass by from now on, cannot recommend enough. THANK YOU SUE!!!!

I hesitate to write this review.. I love this place. It has tons of fruits and veggies that are at outstanding prices and selection. The amount I got at such a fantastic price is amazing. It's not Whole Foods yet you will find a little organic. Best way to shop here is often and keep it fresh. Local produce owned by a local with great prices and product. This here is a win win win. Go and often. Tell Eduardo I sent you!

I stopped by here out of convenience because I was running errands down the street. I needed some arracherra for a dinner I was hosting so I picked up a few large meaty pieces and some fresh veggies to make salsa. It's a small store and crowded with stock. The arracherra was the best I've had from any carneceria in Sacramento. Tender, thin and SEASONED. I could smell the garlic coming off the marinated meat. Some places just put red achiote and throw a few onions on top of the meat in the case and call it a day. I will 100% be returning for carne and will try out the chicken next time too. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I remember seeing this place back in the late 80s. It turns out it's been here since 1957. It's a very nice neighborhood grocery store. It's clean, and everybody was friendly and helpful. For a neighborhood market, they have a good selection. You can get regular or organic produce, (they have six different kinds of apples.) groceries are the same, everything from regular groceries to gourmet items. they have a decent sized liquor and wine section, as well. They also have a pizza restaurant attached. Prices are higher than some of the other stores out there, but hey... It's a higher end neighborhood store. I get it. I got what I needed. Thank you very much.

"One of the larger Apple places with more parking. Plenty of pie, candy apples, and much more. They have some things for kids so this place is especially nice for families. Plenty of food options. Staff are all nice and helpful. They take Apple Pay and tap to pay."
"This is the place you want to go for sweet and tasty mandarins and the real Americana. Stepping on to this fruit farm is like taking a step back in time. You feel as if you've been transported into the 1940s where life was simpler and what was grown on the farm provided food for your family, neighbors and friends. Old buildings, packing sheds and farm vehicles gives you a piece of old Americana that is slowly disappearing today. The vintage atmosphere and the beautiful hills surrounding you gives you a sense of calm and a feeling of what a farm was like back in the day. You cannot make this stuff up. This is the way it was and still is today. The history behind this place is amazing! Four generations have kept this 30-acre fruit farm alive. Even after the Great Depression and Internment camps, they rolled up their sleeves and kept farming. Much of the rootstock was brought from Japan. There are some trees that date back possibly 150 years. This farm is the real deal! The Mandarins are sweet and juicy. They have several varieties, including Zishan, Okitsu Wase, Page, Unshiu, and the most popular, Owari Satsuma. You can sample them to see which ones you like the best. The family is very picky about the quality of fruit that they sell. They pick fruit daily and everything in the fruit stand has been freshly-picked either that day or the day before. Prices are reasonable, and even lower prices for seconds, which are still great. And it's self-service; can you believe it! The "Honor System". Wow!"
"Amazing the spring rolls are delicious and the place is super aesthetic, service is also nice super friendly."
"We have been going here for years and this is where my mother gets a lot of meat and veggies. They have some prepared foods and baked goods, get in early to get the best selection. They have fried pork belly but it is seasoned with five spice which I'm not too fond of. We go here at least once a week and depending on the season you can find great hard to find fruits for a more reasonable price. You can always call if you're looking for something specific or exotic. They have parking in the front or back. It's mainly Vietnamese but they have some Filipino items. I always recommend this for people who are looking for asian products. It's part of our shopping circuit with Seafood City, 99 Ranch and SF Market."
"Went on the Monday following the last day of orchard days. Wonderful drive to Newcastle/auburn. The Sacramento Roseville area was foggy, but Newcastle was sunny and warm. Bought five 10 lb bags of satsuma mandarin oranges. I think that because the season is coming to an end and Orchard Days are over, a 10 lb bag was $10, instead of the usual $13. As usual at all of the mandarin orange farms, the staff are very friendly and helpful."
"Located in the town of Loomis, you'll find this gem known as Blue Goose Produce. It was a stop on our way back to Sacramento from Nevada. This was my first time here, and it was fully stocked when we arrived mid-afternoon. According to some reviews, their stock is seasonal, so call ahead to be sure. There are a good amount of parking stalls directly in front of the store. I didn't check prices, but I'd imagine they are reasonable since this is a locally-owned small business. The lady working behind the counter was very nice, and the store was very well kept. The fruits being sold looked fresh, which is what we all like! They do have a restroom to the right, behind the black latched door. Keep it latched, as the sign says. I would come again if passing through the area. I recommend it for sure!"
"Wonderful store with all that you need and more. A lot of parking spaces around the store. Excellent customer service with a smile. If you're in the area, I will highly recommend."
"Delicious, Sticky, Yummy Fun!SITREPThe DIY culture has taken hold in so many realms of our lives, so is it all that surprising it has taken hold in restaurants and juice bars?Enter Gaspachos, a lovely business on Stockton Blvd that holds true to the traditions of the Mangolada, in this instance, a DIY drink treat that during this time of COVID-19, we can take the kits home.https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gaspachos-sacramento?select=qldYxzEyE5hCvePlfiCEUw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0wTHE SETUPIt DOES take some doing to put together! It's worth the trip to secure the Mangolada kit from Brenda - or another of the friendly staff - and you will find the kit replete with a juicy mango, and unique tantalizing Mexican spices this side of the Rio Grand!https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gaspachos-sacramento?select=VimDqKhgbhNI6cAhxQ4W0Q&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0wMANGOLADAUnderstand that the Mangolada doesn't just happen - it takes some dedication and you can't have any aversion to getting your hands messy. But once you complete the task, you have yourself a delcious, refreshing authentic Mexican Mango drink that you will enjoy! [You can even add shots of tequila or rum like I do to *kick-it-up-a-notch*, but don't tell Mangos!] OTHER FRUIT MIXING!In addition to the traditional Mangolada, the Mixed Fruit Drinks is a tradition with Gaspachos and for that same $8 and mix 3 fruits (instead of just the whole mango), including strawberries, watermelon, etc. Sounds pretty good for the summer time, right?THE LOWDOWNSo YES, Gaspacho's Mangolada drink certainly was yummy & fun, AND very very sticky! But in the end it was absolutely delicous!"
"Been shopping here a whole lot lately. It's AWESOME. Says produce market and they rock that but they serve so much more. Sandos are great (mushroom & pastrami are my go to's) pastries are inspired and take out dinners make it so I don't need to cook anymore. Most important though, the Manager and crew are happy, caring, nice folks. It's a small town store with small town, hard working, smiling staff. Stop there often. It's fun!"
"As I was driving down I noticed the stand was open, so had to stop on my way back home!!!This time I didn't do my usual stop at Machado, (last trip I I got the apple pie, and bag of Fuji apples.. still snacking on them! Since we can't grow a mandarin tree, this is the next best!A 10lb. Bag for $15.00 they are smaller this year, but I'm sure it can't be helped.A lot of other customers were stopping too. I'm sad we won't be able to make the Mandarin festival !"
"Awesome selection of Indian Groceries!Amazing prices and great service! They get fresh vegetables every Friday I was told and I look forward to checking them out later this week!"
"I love it here! I've been a few times, so my review will cover all three visits. They're only open from November through February or March. This is important to note.In November, they offer fruit picking! You make a reservation on their website which you can link to through this yelp page. And then they'll send you a confirmation. Show up on the day and time of your reservation. Someone is there to tell you the rules and the best method for picking. They'll also tell you the best area of trees to get the best yield. I recommend wearing gloves or mittens to protect your little paws from some aggressive twigs that are trying to keep human intruders from stealing their precious fruit. I got an entire bucket of fruit, and I think the price was very reasonable...somewhere in the $20-$30 range if I recall. Mandarins are the only fruit they allow you to pick yourself, but the other times I have visited, I purchased fruit from the store. They have all kinds of citrus fruit available in the store throughout the winter. The best way to know if they'll be open is to call them and listen to the outgoing message. They update that outgoing message regularly. The fruit is delicious, and I'm fairly certain it's organic. You really can't go wrong. Oh, and bring cash if you've got it. They prefer cash."
"Still luvin grocery shopping here. The produce is super fresh. The groceries brands and quantities are well stocked. The pricing is reasonable. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The interior design and look is clean and modern making it even a more enjoyable experience. The organic produce selection is significant compared to most other grocery stores. Plus the pricing on the organic produce is not outrageous. Forklift is super close off Highway 50 in Cameron Park, CA. Pretty easy to get to."
"Came here with family and this was my first time at this farmer's market and they had a lot to offer, corn duh lol, dried fruit, snacks, candy, pumpkins etc! The staff were very helpful and friendly, which was a plus! Tip: the produce marked in green ink vs black on their white boards above each item, means that's its grown there vs sent in from elsewhere. I was happy with my purchases and for chips, a veggie and lots of fruit, it was $15 I believe, not bad and I'll definitely be back next time I am in the area."
"This is one of those fabulous local businesses that you have to appreciate. The English Colony Way is the heart of the Mandarin Trail... well worth a visit. Plus, the history of the area, and how it came to be, is equally impressive. This is one of my favorite orchards in the area. The bags of Mandarin oranges are always fresh.I came to get gifts for a holiday gift exchange and they have a good variety of product to select. It includes candles, fudge, syrup, cookies, vinegars and much more. They also carry my absolute favorite Mandarin marinated salmon. It is amazing. Last time it was uncooked, and this time smoked. The owner is very personable and helpful and it's just an easy place to come and shop, and, again, it's supporting a local business. One of our agricultural type places we should support to thrive. It's a great place, GO!"
"This is an urban hippy's paradise. I liked the place a lot.Plenty of parking, but can get a bit hairy if you're there on an event day. They offer classes and various vendors are out - Organic products and food. They also have a fire pit where you can hang out around and enjoy their vegan pastries. Their banana nut vegan muffin was delish! My girlfriend and I went on a whim to check it out. Tons of stuff to do with your kids. Loads of plants to look through. Their farmer's stand was actually on the small side, so we didn't do a whole lot of shopping. I think maybe I want to head back later in the spring to see what they have. Cool spot for kids. Not that big though, I was certainly thinking it was going to be a lot larger with more things to explore."
"We like to shop at this store as they have good prices and a good selection of products. Being owned by Nugget we find some good deals. They have good prices on local wines and produce. We have seen a fresh fish truck there a couple of times also."
"I love this location for it's diversity, respectful customer service, incredible seasonal produce, and delicious rosemary bread! Great beer selection. When we have time in the mornings, my family loves to grab a smoothie here. The green smoothie , "triple g" is my favorite, and "the red eye" is mild and sweet, good for my sons . The breakfast burritos are not very good. I liked them initially, but the more I ate them, I realized how weird the texture of the eggs is...kinda the texture of tofu, and how the refried beans combined kinda make for weird mush. I won't order them anymore, but you do you. There's a great area at the top of the stairs to enjoy a smoothie or a snack which is very convenient and welcoming. I love this store, and while the burritos aren't my thing. There's still so much to appreciate here!"
"Very strange store, cramped, everything is cramped, you can't get through with a cart. Small assortment, mostly spices and utensils. There are much better stores with more diverse goods."
"They have all kinds of produce here from seasonal fruit to vegetables. During the fall, they do have a variety of pumpkins. It's very affordable and there is a large selection. This will definitely be my go to for pumpkins now! The worker even helped me put all my pumpkins in my car after seeing me make multiple trips which was really nice. They even have pampas for $5 a stem! I was so excited to find these here and got a few. Beware that the leaves fly around a lot so be sure to cover it in the car."
"While I had known Mother was back in Sacramento I hadnt been able to visit. But thank goodness they are back with their staples and classics and just down the street from their previous location. The mushroom po'boy is always a great choice and the additions of the chips is chef kiss. The sandwich is a great size and easily shareable. The mushrooms are fried and seasoned in a great blend, and the lettuce and cucumbers are a fresh addition. The fried chips are light and crunchy with a seasoning that resembles BBQ chips. My partner ordered the special pasta on the menu and we ordered a side of potato wedges with a great dipping sauce. Staff was very nice and welcoming, checking in at the appropriate times."
"Ok, if you are in the Clements/Lockford area this is a must stop everything here so far is amazing, depending on season they have great fruits and vegetables. Also the pies so good!!! In addition this is where you will get into big trouble their FUDGE is soooo good!!!! They will let you sample any of the flavors."
"Stopped by after the gym today and this place is amazing! They sell prepared Indian food and a great selection of groceries. Great prices! So many different cooking oils, seasonings, and great frozen selection for lamb. Got some fresh tomatoes, cilantro and Serrano peppers. Very clean and organized store. Friendly staff! Will be back soon!"
