"Have driven by this place multiple times, especially during my community college days. Yesterday was Good Friday, so me and my family decided to stop by for some good fish and chips. We came in around 8 (30 mins before closing time) and it wasn't super busy. We ordered and got our food within 5-10 mins. We had 2 orders of 3 piece fish and chips and fried zucchini. The prices were a bit higher than our usual fish and chips joint, but the food and service were great."

"Delicious fish & chips!We were filling up our tank at Costco gas when I called around 7:20p to confirm what time they closed. We were told 8:00p. We got done with gas about 10 mins after and headed straight to the restaurant, which was in the same area. The door was unlocked but lights were dimmed. We made our way inside until we saw someone (presumably the owner), he was by himself. He said they were closed even after he confirmed over the phone that he closed at 8:00p. Why the 5-Stars. We left and just as we were about to get inside our car the owner came running out and said he can take our order as long as it's takeout. We gladly said yes and made our way back inside the restaurant. He took our order... 3-piece fish & chips and he proceeded to go to the kitchen. It looked like he has already shut down the kitchen for the evening but he fired it up again to get our order out. We appreciated.It was 8:00p and we just ate inside our car. It was a bit of a challenge but we made it work and no mess LoL! The fish & chips were delicious! Yummy crispy batter and he gave us 2 extra pieces... a total of 5-pieces of cod fish that my hubby and I shared. I love Tugboat's Fish & Chips. The Tugboat closer to our home (#8), closed shop permanently. I'm glad the owner obliged. I was craving! Review #2682"

"My fish and chips craving hit once again and I wanted to try a new place and Yelp recommended PJ's so we have it a shot. The parking situation is ok, it's a small lot and if Round Table next door is busy, I can see parking being a pain. We, however had no issues. Inside looks very much like a diner. Checkered tile floors, they have milkshakes and play oldies. The lady at the counter addressed us immediately and offered friendly conversation. She told us this place took over new ownership about 18 months ago, if I heard her correctly. We had a fairly large order, we got the seafood platter, 3 piece fish n chips, 2 orders of the 2 piece fish n chips, fried zucchini, jalapeño poppers and a strawberry milkshake. This all came to about $72, which honestly isn't that bad when compared to other places. Food took about 15 minutes to make, which isn't bad at all considering he was also making quite a few door dash orders at the same time. When our order was ready we watched him double check everything to make sure everything was there. We got to the car and realized there was no malt vinegar, which is a must for me, so I had to go back inside to get that. Once home, we were pleasantly surprised with size of the fish! These were long, well sized pieces of fish with a nice crispy batter and best part, not greasy! The fish they use is Alaskan pollock and it was juicy and flakey. Fries were a little blah for me, just your typical frozen crinkle cut fries. The fried zucchini was bomb. Large chunks and once again, that nice and crunchy batter. They tasted like cardoni's (if your Italian you'll know what I mean). The jalapeño poppers were good also. Sauces were a little off for me. The tartar sauce was more like a watery dressing that smelled like onion and had a sweet taste. Cocktail sauce looked almost like marinara sauce and had minimal flavor. The malt vinegar was what I believe to be the Heinz brand and it just wasn't the level of flavor I was hoping for. Overall though it's a pretty decent spot. The size of the fish and the price point alone is enough to come back when that craving hits again."

"It's that good! It's my first time here and I got to tell you, I was not disappointed. So much so after eating my meal,just now, I had to write my review! I called in my order 3 mins after they opened and the food was ready in no time! ( I ordered a 3 pc fish dinner and an extra pc on the side) The lady there was friendly and efficient. As soon as I got home to open bag, I was greeted with large fish filets! I took my first bite and man! The batter was so light and airy. The fish was perfectly cooked and the tartar sauce had a great balance. ( I'm not sure if the tartar sauce was made in house, but it was really good and creamy.)Needless to say, I am so happy that I came across this place. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out on one of the best fish and chip places! I'll definitely be back !"

"We came here because we were in the mood for fish and chips. We planned on eating there because fish and chips rarely keep after a car ride. As we walk in straight metal is playing; it wasn't great but at least somewhat tolerable I guess? Upon receiving our food my husband's looks good but mine was super overdone and inedible. I've only ever had to return food one other time in my life (diff restaurant and was too spicy) so I explained how hard the fish was and was asked if I wanted it remade to which I said yes please. As we waited for my new order, the music got stranger and stranger and honestly I wouldn't even call it music. Like it just felt like we were on another planet (and not in a good way). Also during this time I used the bathroom and it was so filthy which was concerning and made me think about how the rest of the restaurant was cleaned. Eventually my new order was ready and he even remade the fries which was not needed but very nice. Still though the music made it hard to converse and I ate quickly so we could get the heck out of there. I'm sure you're wondering how the food was? The steak fries were really good, the fish the second time was a lot better but still I know there's better spots out there for fish and chips. Would I return? Pretty unlikely, but if I did I'd probably get a burger instead."

Well-lit parking lot. I highly recommend the Akakan Cod. Tender fish cooked up crunchy. Flaky white meat. I walked in at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, ordered to-go, and was on my way within 15 minutes. If it's been around since '74... there's probably a reason."

"Very friendly service and very attentive. It's actually busy as people either come and go for pick up orders or come to have a sit down meal. I lived in the Bay Area and this reminded me of that style restaurant. The fish was great. The prawns were amazing and the burger I was surprised was also very good. I'm a huge fan of onion rings and I can be kind of picky but these ones have the perfect batter and were nice and crispy and delivered piping hot. Before your order comes, they drop off tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, ketchup, and ranch and squeeze bottles, which is very nice.Definitely recommend!"
