"I found Julia on yelp after reading her reviews and decided to contact her for my daughters 8th birthday party, and I'm so glad I did!! She was AAAAMAZING!! She communicated every step of the way and on the day of the party, brought all the materials, music, and gave amazing instruction to the group of girls at my daughters party. I will definitely be recommending her to my family and friends and I'm so grateful I reached out to her... I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Julia for giving everyone an unforgettable experience!"
"Huge fan. The projects they have the kids working on are wonderful. The supplies are endless and the teachers support and guidance are wonderful. We felt very accepted and immediately part of a special community. Looking forward to trying the pottery class soon."
"Great connecting with Deidre and chatting at and placer Arts Tour. Wonderful small business and local artist to support!"
"I am so excited I found this place. They have classes where you could make stained glass and I was talking with one of the owners about watercolor classes where they teach you how to paint on glass. They have a whole bunch of little extra rock items and jewelry. This is a very cool little funky place with a friendly neighborhood vibe."
"I love this little gallery. Tucked in one of my favorite streets since I moved to Sacramento, Winding Way in Fair Oaks. It's practically a little house turned gallery and it's just adorable. I really enjoy that they feature local artists with different themes every month. I've seen some really beautiful work there. Two of my children have had pieces on exhibition at this gallery and I happen to have one there this month under my artist/social media name. They also have a ceramics studio where they teach classes. The volunteers and employees are super pleasant and help give this place a very welcoming feel to it. If you're ever in the area be sure to stop in and look at the work being featured that month."
"We came to Orchid Thai to try our hand at painting. We prepaid for our class and checking in was a cinch. After checking in, you get to choose where you want to sit. There were blank canvases on an easel, along with everything required. I was a bit intimidated at first but with the instructor going over each step carefully, I think I came pretty close to the actual portrait. We painted a picture of a Buddha. It was my first time painting and I've never been much of an artist. My friends and I had a great time painting. They had Happy Hour prices on food and drinks during our class but we were already full from lunch we had at the restaurant beforehand. But we did have some suds, which took some of the pressure off. I highly recommend this either with friends, family, or a date. We were never rushed although we had been there for over three hours."
"What a cute little boutique showcasing local crafters and artists' creations! One-of-a-kind jewelry, candles, pottery, shirts, purses, hats, and more are displayed on one side of the room and the "studio" portion with tables are on the other side. Gather holds a number of different crafting classes, from painting to macramé, to candles and body scrubs, and everything in between! They also offer seasonal classes such as wreath-making and chunky blanket weaving. I attended a private "Scrub & Bubbly" party where we made 3 different body scrubs to take home. The sweet owner Meleya was our instructor and had the mimosa bar and our work space, nicely organized with all of our tools and ingredients, set up when we arrived for our 90 minute class. She had some pre-printed recipe suggestions for us or we could make up our own concoctions as far as what scents we liked. Everyone's individual sugar scrubs turned out amazing! It was such a fun and enjoyable time, sipping on our mimosas and getting our hands dirty (and by that, I actually mean, getting our hands CLEAN AND SOFT AND SMELLING WONDERFUL!).Perfect spot to host a special event (birthdays, showers, etc.) or if you're just in a crafting mood. So gather your friends, make something awesome, and have a great time!"
"We had my son's 3rd birthday party here today and the kids had a lot of fun. The host was fantastic, friendly and very helpful. I believe her name was Megan. They had so many little stations for the kids to play from play-doh, painting, a tub full of "orbeez", chalk boards, large sharks to paint all over (it was an under the sea type theme going) and lots of other fun sensory stuff. My ONLY complain was it just wasn't long enough to play. We had a few people show up 15 minutes late and by the time the kids found what they really wanted to do it was barely 20-25 minutes to play. My own son took a little time to warm up and then when things had to be cleaned up, he cried because he was loving it and didn't want to stop. You get an hour and a half but they split it into two parts: 45 minutes to play and 45 minutes for food, cake and presents. When the play time is up, a curtain is closed to shut off access to the back area so that they can start cleaning for the next party, which is understandable. The front area is already set up for the kiddos to sit and eat and whatever else for the last 45 minutes.I wish they would give you a full hour and then 45 minutes for the cake, food and present part.We will definitely be back for open play soon though!"
"Patris is the best painting teacher in the Sacramento area. She teaches from beginners to advanced students. She is very professional and is there to guide you along. Your paining journey. The ambiance of the studio is open and inviting. Ready for you to create your masterpiece. I highly recommend you take a class from Patris."

Today we celebrated my daughters 10th birthday and The girls had a blast. Thank you, Julia for such a great time. Highly recommend, Julia was prompt, very informative and kept the kids entertained. Kids also enjoyed her music choice and the excitement of guessing the name of each song. The paint party was definitely a new twist on birthday parties. "Best Birthday party EVER!" Is what my daughter had to say. Thank you, Julia!

My son is 10 years old and he has ADHD. He really can't sit still and focus on his work. After joining Space Art, we see that he is more focus and able to complete his assignment. The staff there are very patient and give him his time to complete his art work. We see him has more confident through doing arts and see him has good improvement of drawing and painting. My son loves to go there every Saturday for his 2 hrs of class. Thank You Space 4!

I have actually interned with Deidre for a few weeks and it was a really great experience. During the time I assisted her, we worked with students and can I say--she did a phenomenal job. She always came prepared and even brought in media for the kids to reference to when we would discuss certain cultures that the kids would learn about. She is very talented in her own work that she brings to class and even brings many supplies that gives the kids the opportunity to be creative. She has a very joyful, charismatic, and engaging personality that makes you feel welcome to ask questions. I wish I was able to work with her a little more, but my schedule changed. Please consider taking an art class with a friend or a loved one!

What an unexpected gem! The owners and staff are passionate about the craft and love to teach and let you experience all the beauty that is art glass. You can tell it's a family business with a long history and a joy for what they do. I plan to have a birthday party here in the future!

Planned a little group birthday activity here and it was a great experience. Easy to coordinate, and our instructor (Terrence) was patient and a great teacher. We each got to make 1-3 items on the throwing wheel in about 3 hours and just received our stained/glazed products. Can't wait to use them since they're food safe! Also great decorative pieces. Will be back for their other fundraisers and activities, or sign up for some classes.

I've done 3 Paint Nite events in the Sacramento/Elk Grove area so far (Go #TeamNorCal). All 3 have been absolutely fun! The instructors keep it professional and energetic at the same time, and they have an assistant or two walking around to help you and provide words of encouragement. LOL! No matter what your painting skill level is, you will leave feeling somewhat artistic and accomplished (My paintings are actually hanging up on my walls!). All materials are provided, and you are welcomed (and encouraged) to order drinks from the bar/restaurant. As one instructor put it, "The more you drink, the better you paint." There is some truth in that....wine goggles (and stepping back 5 feet) DOES make your painting look like a masterpiece! So don't freak out or feel intimidated if you've never painted anything without numbers or lines. Your inner Picasso will emerge!Get a Groupon, gather your friends, grab a drink, and get to Paint Nite!

If you are at all crafty or want to learn how to get your craft on, Gather has you covered. This place is warm and inviting with classes that include making chunky blankets and body scrubs, and they are celebrating their one-year anniversary on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30.In addition to craft-making, the shop also offers goodies and wares from local vendors, ranging from soy candles to caps. I saw a lot of cute stuff that would make great gifts and my friend actually bought a gift for someone while we were there. The owner guided us through the body scrub-making process, which was very easy and included a wide variety of naturally fragranced oils, botanicals for exfoliation, two different kinds of sugar, salt and coconut oil for moisture. We each made three different scrubs, which smelled great and since my friend won a contest, we were able to enjoy mimosas while we made our scrubs to add to the fun. Thanks for the fun afternoon : )

So excited to have found this little gem! My 19month old daughter is extremely busy and this place entertained her so well! Can't wait to add this to our regular routine. Highly recommend!

"There once was a colorful soul, who remained calm and swooshed colors over thousands of canvases, creating beautiful masterpieces of art and remained calm expressing, "We don't mistakes, just happy little mistakes".....And let me tell you, I channeled my inner Bob Ross after 5 years and I am sooo impressed with MYSELF!!!ART has always been my WORST subject period! I hated it throughout my school years, and I failed miserably in it in High School. As I got older, here comes Paint Nite! Where you sip wine n paint. My first time in 2017, I didn't even drink my wine as to I was too concentrated on my painting! And that one was a masterpiece too.And tonight, was my time to SHINE AGAIN!I needed some "MEENA TIME" and while searching for Sacramento events, up came "Painting and Vino". Now, there is NO WINE at the event despite the name and they make that clear before booking. So please read before buying your ticket! BUT you're more than welcome to bring your own Vino and snacks!!Tonight Painting n Vino was held at, "Crystal Vibez" in Sacramento and hosted by the Sweet Wonderful Kathy!! She was the most nicest, kindest art instructor and she has so much patience! She showed us to paint a sunset overlooking an island. And she went step by step with what brushes, strokes, color blending and all to do! And a few hours later my masterpiece was born! And I made some new friends while painting away! You must sign up for a class, it's so much fun! And you meet all kinds of fun people and the best part is seeing everyone's masterpieces at the end! Each painting represents everyones uniqueness!I will be back Kathy!!"
"From FFA fundraisers to family outings, my kids love painting here! My youngest daughter is Autistic and very interested in painting, and the instructor she had for her painting class was so supportive of her and went above and beyond to encourage her. My son has a very short attention span, and when he got restless, we walked quietly around and the halls are decorated like galleries, he was so excited to see all of the art. Even the restrooms are decorated!! He asked me why our bathroom didn't have "art walls" lol!The location is very quaint located in the heart of old town Elk Grove, although getting in and out of the lot can be a bit scary with traffic. When painting you have a choice of canvas, or even items like wooden trays or raw wood cuts. At Christmas we did trays, as well as a wood cut and they turned out beautifully. Now they are keepsake pieces of our holiday decor!I would highly encourage anyone to enroll in a guided painting class, they are perfect for groups, date night or even just a solo day to unwind. They offer children's classes as well! In addition to painting they also offer candle making classes. I will continue to come back, we can't get enough of this place."
"My daughter loves Art Spark! We've done 4 or 5 cycles and every lesson so far has been different. Mrs. G is so fun and kind and is really adept at getting the kids excited to stand up and share their work with the group. They've made clay dragon eyes, 3D drawings, made superheroes (that Mrs. G turned into animations), and focused on individual artists like Georgia O'Keefe and MC Escher. Pricing is good and Mrs. G is really responsive to email/chat when I've had questions. We already signed up for summer camp!"
"I went here to watch Avenue Q. IT was a surprise for me that it was directly across from the library. It is a new facility that was pretty nice. I am glad they had an elevator because I injured my leg the day before. The place seemed huge and I would definitely want to try out other stuff here. I like how there was free wifi =)"
"Ivy runs an excellent wood sign making business. Not only that, but she is an excellent softball player. I love interacting with her in the wooden sign making business and out there on the diamond. She is a lot of fun to talk to. Ivy does an excellent job making signs and playing 2nd base."
"I hate to be giving this place one star, but here we are.I had very high hopes for SEED. I thought it would be the ceramics studio that Sacramento desperately needs. It is not. Though it is a POC-owned business that claims it's a safe space for makers in the community, SEED is a very unsafe space for anyone, POC or not. It's a damn shame, and it's all due to the owner, Sioux, AKA management. Management is moodier than a teenaged child. When you walk through the doors of SEED, you never know if you're going to get someone who hates your guts or your bestest art friend. I paid too much money to SEED for five months and I'm not sure if Sioux liked me or not. Leaning towards not, and definitely not after this review, but who knows if he'll even read it? In his own words, people "leave bad reviews about me all the time". That's not a badge of honor, dude. That's a sign that maybe you've got to do some work on yourself. Because of that, I hated going in when he was there. It just felt like walking on eggshells. So I never went in when he was there, and he is always there, so eventually, I stopped going in, paying $215 (is it still 215? Or is it more now because he decided to raise prices without communicating to existing members) for maybe one or two visits to the studio per month, usually at night or on the weekends because he wouldn't be there. When he was absent from the studio due to covid or NCECA, a ceramics conference, it was great! It was chill. It was relaxing. My wariness can also be attributed to the fact that my first week at the studio, the two other cofounders left. Like they just packed their shit and left without saying a word. They cited verbal abuse from the owner. Throughout my time at SEED, I watched as more folks left saying similar things. When I asked Sioux about what's going to happen to the studio, he was confident about staying open. One could say he was even too confident, bragging about how he's the best person ever, better than everyone else, he's an artist and a studio owner and someone with a long history of working in the food industry and therefore understands the intricacies of being a ceramics instructor and customer service. Sioux primarily relies on instructing new students so he can rope them into a signing up for a membership to keep the studio going. From the few times I was in the studio, he's just as condescending to students when he's instructing. Come on, man, people are here because they want to learn, not because they want to get talked down to.At SEED, students come before everyone else. The hierarchy is students, members, residents, and work-trade. If you are work-trade, expect to get the shit end of the stick and passive-aggressiveness, especially if you don't do things exactly the way God intended. If you're a student, everything is laid out for you on the website. If you want to be a member or a resident or work-trade, you've got to email or come in to talk to Sioux. Good luck with emailing, sometimes it takes a while to get a response. And good luck with going in, too.SEED operates on the owner's whims. Policies are changed, prices are updated with little to no transparency. When a policy is updated, I noticed Sioux would try to talk to members individually, but that's kind of hard to do when people are avoiding coming into the studio because of him. There's no structure for communication in place. No email lists for communicating upcoming changes. There's a Slack channel, but it's crickets in there. Firing schedules were created, and then thrown to the wind if Sioux had a commission. I understand it's Sioux's own business, but when you're catering to others, maybe actually employ your super wonderful and amazing customer service skills that you couldn't stop bragging about. All of the folks (except one) I've talked to at SEED share a similar sentiment about the owner making the studio an unsafe space and feeling uncomfortable and wanting to leave. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. It'll save you a lot of stress of eventually walking on eggshells and being talked down on. Truly.SEED is not a safe space for anyone remotely interested in clay. Save yourself the time because like everyone else, you'll probably be leaving eventually."
"AR workshop is a super unique spot that is most definitely fun. You are hands on working on your project of choice. I came here with my bestie (as a belated bday hangout day) on a Saturday. We signed up to for the class about 3 weeks in advance. When you sign up, be sure to have looked at the projects they have avail for that day and know your customizations- you will need to add this at registration. They have a variety of cool projects- round signs, lazy susans, jewelry boards, framed boards, pillows, etc. When you arrive, you will see tables set up with supplies. Find your name and your project items should be there. Take a look at your stencil and make sure all of the info is correct. You are assigned a table host who will help you step by step. Most projects are not the same so there are more steps for others. A little patience goes a long way. And with your host, you are able to ask questions or ask for help. Our host Allie was very nice. She assisted with everything. All of the projects we saw were beautiful. It's so nice knowing you will take a unique project home and be proud of it. It was absolute fun and a memorable experience. I definitely recommend this to everyone and anyone as a group or for couples. I would love to come back and do more projects! Things to know- You'll need to pick out your stain and color (for most projects). Customize as much as you'd like! There is a drink bar- wine and bubbles :)They offer use of gloves and apronsYou may need to use a drill or hammer to complete your project (don't be afraid of it!)Nice, friendly and helpful staff"
"My husband and I decided to do a "date night" together and get dirty, wet,and throw things with passion (aka get elbows deep in clay). Now, I always imagined throwing on a potting wheel to be something akin to the sexy scene in Ghost. Uhhh, yeah. Reality check. Our first class definitely threw that fantasy out the window. I just had to make sure I didn't lose a finger or my dignity!I found Sincere Ceramics via FB. They had an event listed as "Fired Up Friday" which is essentially an intro class to those who have never worked with clay, or are still new and want a refresher course. It's essentially open studio time to play around and create things that only your mother could love. Just kidding. I say this because I recreated my kindergarten ash tray when we went (which was humbling and hilarious). In fact, I recommend you go through their FB page to reserve your spot in their numerous offerings during the week. They seem to do intro classes on Wed, Thurs and Fridays but check online to be sure. I know they also have open studio you can go to, but its definitely more for those who have experience, especially if you want to use the wheels. We were greeted warmly by one of the artists and members of the studio and paid our $12 each. We were then walked in, offered coffee/tea and then once everyone arrived we had a tutorial led by Justin on the types of clay and the different methods of creating with clay. It was really cool because I remember learning this 30 years ago as a kid, and it came back to me pretty quickly. We also had the opportunity to see and experience using the potting wheel. Its a different beast than the rolling, pinching and scoring you do with your hands when creating but it gave me a new appreciation of the gorgeous handmade bowls and mugs I admire often when shopping.Sincere Ceramics also has a studio with art and ceramics for sale by those who use the studio. Its really amazing to see such beauty come from something as simple as clay. A great place to pop by to grab a one of a kind piece for sure.If you want a fun date night, or something creative to do with a group I recommend Sincere Ceramics! In fact, they are kid friendly so it would be a good option if you want something to do with the kids. Its an active studio and offers studio time and materials for a reasonable price. I also recommend you come wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes. It can get cold in the studio, but you will get warm once you start working with the clay. They have all of the clay, and tools you need to create but definitely do some research before you go to help inspire you, and so you know what questions to ask of Justin the instructor. He was really helpful and a total pro when we were there and I only wished we had more time!"
"Carmen was awesome! From prep to set-up to our lesson, everything was awesome. We had her come out to an event in our house where about half the people in attendance had done something like this before and half had not. Carmen knew how to work with all of us to have a great time. We were just there to have fun and we got step by step intro on all the colors and tons of positive encouragement from Carmen. We all had a great time!"
"I did a painting class here and had so much fun! I've done painting classes at other places but Just For Fun Art really stood out the best. Instructors are all so friendly and happy to assist.Classes are $25 and the canvas, paint, brushes, aprons are all provided. We were given the option to choose 3 different paintings. It was nice to have options to choose from. I like how they have some variety as I can paint something I'd actually want to hang up in my house.I felt like I was getting a private lesson because the instructor would walk around to each person and go by each person's pace. I didn't feel rushed at all to complete each step. The tables are square with 4 people on each table. There's plenty of space and elbow room. It's a great and fun place for date night or family night. I'd definitely be back! You can bring your own wine too!"
"We visited Heart Craft Studio for a cookie decorating class with Sugar Sweetery. There was plenty of space in the parking lot and the studio was open, welcoming and very cute. There was a watercoloring class going on in the front room and our class was in the back room. Our room was open and had mirrors on the walls, you can tell it can also be used for dance classes. They had tables and chairs set up around the room and we had music playing while we spent a couple hours learning to decorate cookies.Check out their website for class opportunities with different instructors. They vary in price and topic and span a wide variety of interests and age groups. They're also right next to Logoff Brewing and do some collaborations."
"Ever wonder how all those shops on Etsy specializing in personalized items stay in business? Get a full tutorial - and personalized item - through a 3+ hour class at AR. What a great concept.Ahead of time, you pick a project you want to do, and when you arrive, your set up and personalized stencil are ready for you.Nariné and Michelle did a pretty good job handling the group of 15. Unlike other craft nights, their help is critical through many steps of the project, so there are occasional lags in time. However, this gives you a chance to chit chat and take your time. That being said, many projects took longer than the 3 hours. We didn't feel rushed, but I do wish it had stayed closer to 3 hours. I'd recommend thinking a bit ahead of time what colors you want to use and type of paint technique you might want to use. These decisions can take a lot of time at the beginning of class.Definitely a fun bonding activity!"
