Great theater! Beautifully decorated. If you plan on getting a snack there or a souvenir, you'll want to get there right when the doors open (about 45 before the show) because the lines for both with fill up quickly. We were the first ones in the door and got our souvenirs right away. When we left the line, there were over 30 people behind us. The line for snacks was also pretty long. During intermission, the lines for bathrooms will be long. If you have to go, you'll want to head over to the restrooms as soon as intermission starts. We sat near the front which was a longer walk to the bathrooms. The souvenirs for Broadway events are very pricey. The shirts for Wicked range from $40-$50. A magnet or keychain is over $10.

Grateful to Broadway Sacramento and Music Circus for bringing national touring productions here. Yes, I will occasionally splurge on shows in San Francisco at the Orpheum, Curran, or Golden Gate Theaters but #HomeIsSacramento. Seeing Phantom of the Opera and Aida in NYC are what truly hooked me, but my first show in Sacramento was Les Miserables back in 2003/2004. I'm not a season ticketholder although I did tend to purchase 3-show packages when available or single shows via the $35 Under 35 Club. The best season ever was in 2008 when they still had 7 shows for Music Circus. A few times I was also lucky enough to have comp tickets to dress rehearsals of The Drowsy Chaperone and The Wiz as part of the Broadway Sacramento Ambassador program #InstaYelpaTweetaSnap or Wells Fargo friends (thanks, Gregg R.!). The Music Circus (summertime series) at the Wells Fargo Pavilion is my favorite especially because of the stage in-the-round audience layout -- every seat is a great seat and they're so creative with the sets and scene changes! It used to literally be a circus tent but it's a nice air-conditioned venue with plenty of restrooms, courtyard space, and subscriber's lounge. At Music Circus I've seen Annie, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, The Producers, Annie Get Your Gun, Miss Saigon, Disney's The Little Mermaid, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Sweeney Todd, Gypsy, Evita, Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act, Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Newsies, Singin' in the Rain, Swing, Hairspray, Dreamgirls...At the Broadway Series (fall/winter/spring, Community Center Theater/SAFE CU PAC) I've attended Chicago, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, In The Heights, West Side Story, Wicked, Les Miserables, RENT, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Aladdin, Spring Awakening, Motown the Musical, Bodyguard the Musical, White Christmas, Disney's The Lion King, Kinky Boots, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Starlight Express, Avenue Q, Book of Mormon, Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton, Officer and a Gentleman, and Anastasia. Opening night is generally Tuesdays, and I'm partial to weeknight evening shows or matinee weekends if possible. At the Wells Fargo Pavilion, every seat is great like I said. At the SAFE CU PAC, you can choose the orchestra, lower balcony or upper balcony depending on your price range. Broadway Sacramento has wonderful offerings, a pretty good mix of older and newer shows, and I try to catch at least one show per season for Broadway Sac and Music Circus. Sometimes I will check out SF shows but also don't overlook great local community theater performances such as Green Valley Theatre Company, Davis Musical Theater, Woodland Opera House, or other venues like Harris Center at Folsom Lake College, Mondavi Center at UC Davis, Sacramento Theater Company, Black Box Theater West Sac, or Missouri Street (Fairfield) to get your fix.

I took my best friend to see Aladdin on Broadway for her 30th birthday. I've never seen a Broadway show before and I was amazed and shocked the entire time. It was worth every penny and it was worth paying for the Orchestra level seats to see all the details of the cast's costumes, the props, and the special effects. There were fire works, so many visual effects, and they actually flew on a carpet. It was beautiful all the transitions and effects and visuals. They would convert the set into an entire new one right before your eyes within seconds. The acting was amazing and all the singing was flawless. Everyone was great but the Genie stole the show he was amazing. The costumes and makeup were so intricate, detailed, and beautiful. It's an amazing experience especially for us 90s kids to see this live in front of our eyes after having grown up with the movie.

BWS is the cultural hub for theatre in Sacramento. Between making talent, and excellent staff this location is a wonderful place to experience theatre.

I completely love musical theatre. This venue gets 4 stars mostly because it affords me the opportunity to see some great shows without having to travel to SF, LA or NYC. The last two seasons have been GREAT! Last season, The Color Purple, Avenue Q, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and The Lion King were the highlights for me - all fantastic shows! And this season, I was overjoyed to see Spring Awakening twice while it was here, I cannot wait to see Rent for the 5th time and I'm looking forward to seeing Chicago and Chorus Line for the first time.Notwithstanding how much I love being able to see some great shows locally, I cannot stand the lack of manners that a lot of show-goers display. During most of The Color Purple, the woman sitting in front of me was texting on her very well-lit, very distracting cell phone! While watching Spring Awakening, during a very intense scene, the woman behind me exclaims loudly, "She had an abortion, right?" to which the woman next to her replied, "Yes!"...really people, c'mon!?! I hate nothing more than hearing people talk during the quiet moments in a play/musical and I hate people coming late to a show or returning late after intermission and being allowed to stumble down the aisle in front of me, which happens all the time in Sacramento. It is for this reason that I had to withhold a star - it is disappointing that Sacramento's audiences can be so obnoxious and it is embarrassing, too.Having said (err, written) all of that - keep the hits coming California Musical Theatre!!!! (I'd like to put in a request for Miss Saigon and Sunset Blvd to come through again!!)

Pippin! Just 2 more days to see it before it flies away from Sacramento. This is a beautiful, sexy show about life choices - perfect for helping you with thinking about your New Year's resolutions. I don't want to give anything away but it's spectacular with acrobatics, aerial dancing and surprises.

I went there with my nephew after it reopened. It was a go to when it was open before Covid. I found it mediocre. The menu needs help. The food was slow to come out, the waiter was uninterested. The prices were found to be unwarranted. I will not go back. It has lost its charm.

The venue is easily accessible with close, reasonable parking rates. Not a bad seat in the theater if actors move around and direct their skills in all areas. Clean and comfy seating. Look forward to future summer productions.

2021 Season tickets went on sale today for new subscribers. The box office is available only by phone between 1pm & 5pm. I tried to call 124 times during 2 solid hours, but was unable to get through. Tickets are not being sold online through their website. I do understand limited staffing during these times. However, I think that there has been more than sufficient time to prepare more adequate ways to purchase tickets. I'll try again tomorrow. Anyone else have this experience?
