This is the place you want to go for sweet and tasty mandarins and the real Americana. Stepping on to this fruit farm is like taking a step back in time. You feel as if you've been transported into the 1940s where life was simpler and what was grown on the farm provided food for your family, neighbors and friends. Old buildings, packing sheds and farm vehicles gives you a piece of old Americana that is slowly disappearing today. The vintage atmosphere and the beautiful hills surrounding you gives you a sense of calm and a feeling of what a farm was like back in the day. You cannot make this stuff up. This is the way it was and still is today. The history behind this place is amazing! Four generations have kept this 30-acre fruit farm alive. Even after the Great Depression and Internment camps, they rolled up their sleeves and kept farming. Much of the rootstock was brought from Japan. There are some trees that date back possibly 150 years. This farm is the real deal! The Mandarins are sweet and juicy. They have several varieties, including Zishan, Okitsu Wase, Page, Unshiu, and the most popular, Owari Satsuma. You can sample them to see which ones you like the best. The family is very picky about the quality of fruit that they sell. They pick fruit daily and everything in the fruit stand has been freshly-picked either that day or the day before. Prices are reasonable, and even lower prices for seconds, which are still great. And it's self-service; can you believe it! The "Honor System". Wow!

The mandarins here are delicious, with many varieties to choose from! Marty picks them by hand to ensure you get the best. This farm dates back to the 40's, and we love that old farm feeling. The price is great with an honor system in place. The drive out to the farm is a nice change from the busy city.

Delicious. Never disappoints. Self service in a small shed. Cash or checks. Everything bagged by 10lbs or you can buy by the pound. Scale provided. Usually there are Mexican limes and persimmons as well. I've been driving to Penryn for about 5 years and have tried several farms. Black Oak is my favorite.
