So disappointing. Went here with a friend and we both felt the food was overpriced mediocrity. She joked that it was like eating "Lean Cuisine" microwave dinners. Ancient plastic menus. Tiny paper napkins. Weird service. Lesson learned.

The waitress that helped us was terrible. Entitled, smug and made the experience one that I'll never return. It's sad when you can't even keep the locals coming in. Good was mediocre at best

My husband and I dined in during Victorian Christmas so we expected a long wait, but they were able to accommodate us with a table fairly quickly. That was very nice as other restaurants downtown had over a 60 min wait! Obviously it was a very busy day for everyone downtown, but the service was pretty slow even considering that. We ordered two sandwiches and waited an hour for pretty small sandwiches. At that point we were hungry and ready to dive in! Unfortunately, the food was decent at best. Not very flavorful and we left not even finishing either plates. I have to acknowledge how friendly the staff was! Cheerful and consistently checking in on us/refilling drinks. It's a quaint restaurant with charm and great customer service. I hope to come again on a not so busy day and try new items on the menu! I'm thinking it was just an off day given the large rush of people!

We came into town on the last Sunday of the Dickens Christmas Festival. We checked in to our hotel, walked up and down Broad St and decided to see if anyone had an open table. We walked in to a busy Bistro 221, and were seated within 10 minutes. The servers were very kind and attentive. The food was very good, especially with the chaos of their annual and popular city event going on. We'd definitely go back.

Friday, 5/26/2023 - We were passing by and decided to check out Nevada City historical town. Saw Bistro 221 and decided to eat there. If I estimate it, the front of the restaurant where we ate at is like 350 square feet. They do have a back room with more tables and chairs. Upon arrival:Pros:1) restaurant had more parking in the back. They told us to sit anywhere that is empty.2) our hostess and our server were nice, professional and so smiley. Their helpfulness along with their smiles brighten up the room. Working with a smile helps alot. Makes the patrons more at ease. 3) tables, chairs, cups, plates, utensils were all clean. 4) water tasted good. No funky or metal taste. 5) our Ribeye Steak Sandwich was good! If only they could have made it medium rare like we asked. When they brought it over to us, it medium cooked. But it was still really good. The aioli spread they had on there was yummy. The bread was perfectly toasted. 6) we switched the fries to sweet potatoe fries. It was additional $3.50 to do that. But there was this seasoning on it that made the fries tasted so friggen good. Im so used to getting soggy sweet potatoe fries from restaurants. But Bistro 221 made their sweet potato fries peefect!!!! 7) bathroom was clean.Cons:1) street parking is meter parking. Make sure to pay for your parking.2) the creme brulee we got was really runny in the middle. But it was nice, thick and creamy on the edges. The middle part wasn't cooked all the way. 3) bathroom light was on the darker side. I feel it could have been just a little brighter. Or maybe it was like that cus I just walked in from the bright, beautiful sun this day. 4) Conclusion:I really liked this restaurant. It was so cute! The staffs were very nice and professional. As I mentioned before, both of the servers were all smiles helping their customers. Food tasted great. Restaurant clean. If you're ever in this area, check them out!

We ordered 4 orders of chicken parmigiana, it came with spaghetti and garlic bread for $28.. every single chicken breast was burnt on the bottom and extremely dry...you got to twirl the fork twice and you were out of spaghetti.. the garlic bread was 2 slivers, not slices...actually, a French fry from McDonald's is thicker and has more garlic.
