I have been a Big Sister (mentor) with BBBS Sac since April 2018. I cannot say enough good things about what this incredible organization does for the youth in the Sacramento area. There is a very thorough screening process that comes with becoming a Big. A background check, Livescan, and interview are a few of the components. My match with Aj (my little) has been overwhelmingly successful. BBBS asks that you commit to a one year match, and spend approx. 6 hours a month with your little. They stress that quality time is the best route, i.e - walk in the park, zoo, museums, etc... If you are interested in investing your time into our youths, I highly suggest getting involved with BBBS. I can assure you, you will learn more about yourself than you think, annnnd giving back your time is so beneficial for your soul and mental well being. I feel so grateful for this organization and the amazing staff who genuinely care.Follow us on IG @Aj_Ness_BBBS to see what we're up to.

If I could give negative stars I would. This organization is in need of some serious revamping. Poorly supervised matching and they did more emotional damage to my child by matching her with an immature inexperienced Big who had no regard for my child's well being. They need some serious training or maybe get a licensed MFT a to make sure they know how to understand how different kids are emotionally. If your kid wants to go to some Kings games for free then this organization is for you. But if you are looking for A big brotherly like emotional connection forget it. They are about "entertaining" the kids not connecting emotionally or making sure the kids have a warm experience. It's like putting your kid in front of the TV/game console vs. actually interacting with them.

I have had the chance to be heavily involved in the BBBS program of Sacramento for the last 6 years as a Big Brother and the experience working with my little and the supporting team at BBBS has been one of the greatest I have ever had. Having a chance to work with this group of inspired and committed individuals is motivating to be around and the work they are doing is having a profound impact on our community.

I have been volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Sacramento Area since the fall of 2020. I must say that it has been a wonderful experience. Dimitrius Stone, the Executive Director, is a great leader and you can tell he is extremely passionate about the mission of BBBS. All of the BBBS team members are professional, kind and also very passionate about the mission. It is an organization which works efficiently in order to make the most of each dollar that is donated. I would encourage anyone and everyone to volunteer and/or donate to this great organization. The team at BBBS works very hard to help at-risk youth in the Greater Sacramento Area. They want each child to have every opportunity to succeed, and that puts a smile on my face.
