Finally had a chance to try Bacon & Butter! We made attempts in the past, but the long wait (with kids) was not ideal. Lol. This time around w/o kids, arrived at 10am on a Sunday and was seated around 10:45. We ordered the kitchen sink, chicken&waffle, and the banana cream waffle. The kitchen sink was our favorite. Seasoned well and comforting! Chicken & waffle came with boneless fried chicken pieces and a sturdy waffle. I personally could have used a tad more salt on the fried chicken, but still tasty and juicy. The banana cream waffle was really good. A thick waffle topped with a fresh banana and the perfect amount of custardy cream, shredded coconut, whipped cream and Nutella drizzle. While I'm not a huge nutella fan, it balanced everything out perfectly! This dish also came with a side of syrup, but i found it unnecessary. Service was good - friendly and attentive :). Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will be returning. Just plan for a wait if you arrive during prime weekend brunch hours!

My boyfriend and I went for brunch the other day, and as usual, there was a wait. However, today we really noticed how inattentive the front staff were. I went to put my name on the waitlist, and the female hostess told me to wait outside, saying she would come out to add me to the list. She took close to 10 minutes to do so, spending that time chatting with the other staff, before finally coming outside.Once seated, we placed our orders. My boyfriend went with his usual Cali Burrito, while I decided to try something new. I was in the mood for the biscuit, bacon, and gravy dish. When our server brought out the food, I looked at my plate and thought, "Wow, this biscuit is completely drenched in gravy, along with the bacon. It looks more like a soup than anything else." Gone were the crispy bacon and the biscuit I had been craving--everything was soggy. My boyfriend looked at it and had the same reaction. It was definitely not appetizing. For some context, my boyfriend and I enjoy food from all kinds of places, from hole-in-the-wall spots to Michelin-rated/worthy restaurants. For us, the quality of the food is the most important factor, and service and ambiance come secondary to a well-cooked meal. When our server returned to check on us, my boyfriend mentioned that I wasn't happy with my food because it wasn't what I had expected. I decided to order the pancakes instead--reliable as always. The owner personally brought my new dish to the table. But what he did while placing it in front of me was on an entirely different level. The owner then proceeded to tell us--mostly addressing my boyfriend--that he had taken a loss on the dish I returned, specifically because of the cost of the bacon. First of all, we had never encountered anything like this at any establishment, and to be approached by the owner about it? Who does that, and why? He explained that his goal was to inform us about the situation and see if we might somehow accommodate the loss--seemingly hoping we'd cover at least half the cost of the dish. My boyfriend expressed his disappointment in how the owner chose to handle this and offered some suggestions for a better approach. One suggestion was to place a sign on the menu or somewhere in the restaurant stating that if a customer doesn't like a dish, they'll still be charged regardless of whether the dish is returned. Another idea was to include a detailed description of the dish on the menu. Lastly, my boyfriend suggested ensuring the server provides a description of the dish to the customer, especially when it differs from the usual preparation.I could go on and on about everything the owner said, but for the sake of brevity, I'll stick to the key points:The customer is always right. If the owner is the one confronting the customer, that's a problem.Doing business comes with costs, and sometimes, customers might not be happy with their dish--that's just how it is.What restaurant owner wouldn't want a happy customer? When the owner feels compelled to approach a customer due to a financial loss over bacon, it raises questions.Oh, and I can't forget this: The owner came back a second time and asked my boyfriend, "Were you threatening me when you said, 'What do you want to do about this?'" After a moment of shock, my boyfriend replied, "No, I was genuinely asking what you wanted us to do." Neither of us, together or individually, have ever encountered such an experience in all our years of dining as foodies. We were not only disappointed but shocked, and my boyfriend told the owner how he had ruined our experience.Context: We've enjoyed meals here many times before, but this was a first--and it will definitely be our last.

Been stuffing my face at Bacon & Butter since leaving NYC many years ago, but 2 recent poor experiences with queueing have put me off going again. The latest visit included a 1h20m delay between starting to queue to put my name on the wait list and sitting down. It took 20 minutes from speaking to a greeter outside before receiving a text to say we were on the waiting list. Then there was an hour waiting outside with the dozens of other people. Then you get a text to go wait at another separate queue where we watched multiple people who arrived after us get called to sit down before us. Note to Bacon & Butter--don't do this, it infuriates people who have to wait longer. Meanwhile, people get called multiple times but don't show up, only to be yelled for again and again, then finally they'll drift up 10-15 late and still be sat before guests already waiting eagerly right there. It seems like an overly fussy yet sloppy system just to get in the door. The older white male staff member calling people's names may sound friendly but is blunt and rather patronising when speaking to in person. All very annoying. On our last visit we arrived super early as we had a funeral to attend afterwards. When we finally got to sit inside we had less than an hour to order, await food, eat, pay, and get to the funeral. Thankfully our server made it all happen somehow which we were very grateful for, but we literally sat, ate, and left within 15 minutes. I may have enjoyed my food if I didn't need to inhale it!Surprised to know this place had any Michelin attention. Maybe they were assessed on a day where there wasn't nearly an hour and a half wait, but surely this is a dealbreaker for us non-Michelin paying customers?! I could gather the ingredients, cook, and eat the same food in that same time we waited. One redeeming feature of the long wait was being able to get coffee from inside to tide you over outside, plus moaning with other guests helped pass the time too. Inside is admittedly cute. The food is good but not worth the frustrating multi-stage queuing saga. I noticed they use Costco oat milk which is gross. Like this review, it's so slow and long-winded there, why not make Bacon & Butter reservations only?!Anyway, we're looking for another brunch spot in Sacramento so we don't have such a stressful brunch next time, any recommendations?

We joined the waitlist on a Wednesday morning & had a 30 minute wait time--but we got seated in 20. We ordered quick since we had time to look at the menu in their cute outdoor space while we were waiting to be seated. The biscuit sandwich was delicious & savory, I recommended adding the gravy for a couple bucks extra. The apple pie french toast was yummy and sweet. I loved the texture of the roasted apples & how cold the whipped cream was. One note I'd give was have the french toast have a little more crispiness to it. The food came out fast and hot, servers were kind, and the ambiance was your elevated/hip brunch spot. Great place for brunch enthusiasts!

Came to Bacon & Butter for brunch and overall, we really enjoyed it! My friend recommended we come by 10 otherwise we'd have no chance with the wait. She wasn't wrong. We still had a 1 hour wait arriving at 10, and that's generally too long for me regardless.Having said that, it gave us ample time to peruse the menu beforehand and there were definitely dishes that stood out to us like the biscuit sammies, the kitchen sink, and the apple cinnamon pancakes which is exactly what we ordered. I also threw in a bacon chocolate chip cookie because why not?Plates are generous here at Bacon & Butter! It's very easy to eat your way into a coma because it all tasted pretty dang good! I really enjoyed the fluffiness of my biscuit and the cheese with its crispy skirt? Chef's kiss, for sure! I did think they could have done a better job sorting through my side of fruit...some of the items looked past their prime, but I guess that's a small thing in the grand scheme of the experience.

I can tell why everyone loves it here!FOOD: The food was delicious. We ordered waffles, biscuits, bacon, side of fruit, potatoes, hot apple cider and orange juice. The biscuits were my favorite of all, they come with homemade jam and butter. The biscuits are cooked to perfection, flaky and buttery! I also got a side of the gravy which was amazing. Everything else was really good and great quality. My only complaint is the fruit did not seem fresh. SERVICE: Our waiter Samin was really nice and personable. AMBIANCE: Cute, simple place! I think the flowers on the street sign are adorable and I love the front patio! KID FRIENDLY? Yes but with a caveat. They have high chairs but no kids menu. However, the food is simple enough to modify for kids. My two kids shared one waffle meal. Also, the wait times can be long so be mindful of that if you have busy toddlers. OVERALL, will I be back? Yes, I can't get those biscuits out of my mind!

I've heard about this place for years - but its on the opposite side of town for me, and not not particularly easy to get to - plus, I've heard there's typically a sizable wait... so, being human, not crazy about driving across town early in the morning to wait in a long line to eat when my stomach is growling.I jumped at the chance to go when a friend invited me to meet her and a friend. I just needed a little nudge!I used GPS, but it really wasn't too hard to find and also pretty easy access to the freeway... and... the wait wasn't long at all. So far, so good! The menu had several creative options... enough that I had a tough time deciding. I do my best to keep the carb count down and that's always a struggle with most breakfast menus - this one being no different - but not a fault on their part. The high carb options were just so tempting! I behaved for the most part and had chorizo omelette. My friend had a sausage sandwich and also ordered the banana creme waffle to share. Her friend ordered the avocado toast.Everything was well presented and had good sized portions. The chorizo omelette was different than I expected... only because I have chorizo at home on a regular basis and make it differently. It was very good, just different. My friends loved their dishes as well.I look forward to trying other items on the menu - I'll admit I had a touch of "order envy" after seeing some of the other things people ordered. I think the Grilled Cheese Eggs Benedict is next up... and... I just needed to decide ahead of time that I'm going to have a "cheat day" on the whole carbs thing. It'll be worth it.

I don't get the hype...With a name like this, you expect a delicious meal. Ours was very hit & miss. It's a popular spot, so the wait time and parking are an issue too. We ordered a variety of items, and only a few were hits. The good: the burger, chicken & waffles, and the fruit plate (good variety, not just cheap basic melon). The misses: potatoes (how can a brunch spot not know how to make potatoes?! They need flavor!), grilled cheese Benedict (this was ok- perfectly poached eggs, but the grilled cheese was only partially edible as so much of the thick bread was burned too crisp to eat), and the donut holes (this took a long time, they were cold and stale, and they appeared magically after a staff member walked through the restaurant with a box of donuts....)I've tried it several times, and it never impressed. With so many great brunch spots in town..... I'll be headed elsewhere.

Came here on a Sunday morning at 10am. There were 3 of us and the wait was about 30 minutes. There were lots of people waiting to be seated by the time we left. They open at 8am so if you're ambitious enough, get here early! We got the famous kitchen sink with over easy eggs, the apple pie french toast, the banana bread pudding, the grilled cheese Benedict, the pineapple upside down donut and a side of bacon.I'm usually a savory gal, but surprisingly my favorite was the apple pie French toast. It was moist, flavorful and just the perfect amount of sweetness. I think the house made whip sold it because that added a nice creamy element. A must-get is the kitchen sink. The herby potatoes and thick pieces of pork belly (or what they call lardon), is simply perfection - a bowl of comfort!!A great spot for brunch with the girls and/or date. If this place has been on your list, be sure to cross it off soon!
