We've been eyeing Bacchus ever since we moved to El Dorado Hills but never had a chance till we randomly decided on a Sunday evening to check them out. We walked in with no reservations but were pleasantly surprised when they were able to get us in. The setup and ambiance looked a little eccentric. Huge Christmas decorations all over the place which were now being offered at a 50% clearance price.Server took our food and drinks orders. I ordered the Prime Rib & my wife got the Risotto. Both items were so delicious. My mouth still waters thinking about the juicy prime rib. I was very impressed. We also ordered the bread pudding and it was phenomenal. We are definitely going to try this place next time soon.

We were very disappointed in our experience here. For starters, our reservation was cancelled and although we appreciate their efforts to get us in, it was quiet a headache. Our server was really the only saving grace because he was so kind, however he should have brought a manager to speak with us since it was obvious we were just done with the place. It took well over an hour to get our dinner. They did not have many dishes available as their fryer was broken and there wasn't Mac and cheese. Which let me tell you, did not go well for my kid who ended up ordering butter noodles and honestly it was just noodles, it was awful. The adult dishes were just ok, nothing to write home about. I mean the salmon was your typical little frozen fillet from the bag and the prime rib from bjs is better. But, the drinks were fun and so was the ambience.Unfortunately, I give this place a hard pass.

Came with a friend for lunch recently and had an amazing meal. We were there just as they opened but within about 15 minutes they were full...so reservations are a good idea! I had a cup of the delicious mushroom soup and a shrimp salad. I could eat that soup all day. Service is great and the place has beautiful decor. Glad to be back!

Consistently good service, tasty food and interesting ambience. Good HH pricing. Great wine selection...tucked in an unassuming building you'd never expect the level of decor you're treated to...even if a bit over the top. But then this place is named for the god of wine and patron of the arts, so, it fits. If you're lucky enough to be going the week of Halloween, you get to see an impressive display of a personal wax museum collection that is hard to match. Six or more full size gremlins, Boris Karloff, the swamp thing, the mummy, flying monkeys...and who can forget nosferatu.

Boy, there is a lot that could be great here, but a lot that needs to be done/adjusted to make it that way. We came in on a Saturday night for dinner. First the interior is well designed with lots of upscale ambiance and character. They do a fantastic job decorating the entire space with Halloween movie scenes. You can walk around and see how much effort was put into the decor. That was the best part of the entire evening quite honestly. The kid at the front desk was confused and disorganized. He got us seated, and we waited and waited and waited.... we finally flagged down one of the servers to find out who was responsible for our table. He said he would get him. Still waited quite a while, to the point we were just about to get up and leave, before "our server" came to our table with all the excuses of being "soooo busy" (absolutely the wrong things to say). Yes, the restaurant was filling up, but don't complain to your patrons. He got us bread and took drink orders. We told him we already know what we want for dinner, so let's get that in now. It was quite a while before the first course came out. And, a whole lot longer before the main course came out. Our server was running all around to other tables, but never came back to check in to let us know "when" the main course would come out. At one point the owner came to the table, apologized and offered us 'more bread'.... nice gesture to address the situation, but 'more bread'? really? Finally, the main courses came out. The short ribs, which are touted to be "fall off the bone tender" are actually 3 rather small pieces without the bone. The presentation was nice, I will say that. But, not a lot of food if you are there for the short rib aspect of the meal. You will be filling up on the potato puree they are nestled in, and the veggies on the side. And, yet another very long wait for the table to be cleared and get the bill so we could get out of there. Overall, I would say go for their wine and cocktails, grab some small plates at the bar and call it a day. Restaurants must work like a cohesive machine and this place needs some good training to get there. The night we were there it was a total 'cluster F'. And, an expensive one at that.

This place is great. The holiday decor is exquisite and grand enough to make worthy accommodations for the ghost of Christmas past! We each had cocktails (French 75 & Jameson and Coke), salads (wedge & butter Caesar w/ apple), the pepper pasta plate, and bread pudding for dessert. Every bite and sip satisfying! We sat at the bar and Kayla, the bartender, was perfection incarnate. I can't imagine this evening having gone any better.

On the urging of a friend the hubster and I brought family with us to dinner the Bacchus House over the weekend. The loss of one star is due to me calling around 1pm to make a reservation, leaving a message and no follow up call or text. I subsequently called seven other times between 230pm and 430pm with no answers also. Mentioned in their messages is to make a reservation as they fill up quickly...which was what I was trying to do. When we arrived at 530, the time I asked for a reservation for a party of five, there was of course no reservation. Thankfully the busy part of their evening had not begun and in we were seated. Our table was in the back room with the piano. Very quaint ambiance with photos of their alcohol offerings that were featured in local magazines. Our server, Juan, was very friendly and took our drink orders, delivered bread, and then returned for our dinner selections. Four of us had the Prime Rib and the other had their Salmon. As a lover of Prime Ribs and Shirley Temples...I had to try both. The Shirley was made exceptionally well and the ratio of cherries was perfect. All of the Prime Ribs were cooked to perfection and included veggies (brussel sprouts) roasted to deliciousness and purred potatoes (read mashed). The other loss of one star is due to the lack of soup or salad with the meal. Those are extra. Other places I have patrons they have been included with the meal. The Salmon dinner looked yummy and all of it was consumed and I am told it was delightful. Mid-meal is when live entertainment began. A very nice touch and clearly there were quite a few followers enjoying the performance in the bar area. Since our dinners were very filling, sadly we passed on desserts. Next time. All in all a very enjoyable evening and when I am hankering for good food I now know the Bacchus House is nearby. Keep up the delicious work.

Hmmmm, my initial review included excitement and anticipation given the great reviews and the pics were great too! The menu looked phenomenal, especially the King Salmon. I'm not sure what other venues offer King Salmon but this is definitely a big "yes" for me. Unfortunately, the doors were locked although I just saw two customers leave. This was just after 1:30pm on a Friday. Given their limited lunch hours and the fact the close at 2pm, I'm guessing they shut the doors around that time so they can close at 2pm? I'll definitely get there earlier next time and update my review.

Went last night 12/7/24, there was 43 of us in the back private room. It was my first time. I've heard so much about it. Our server Lauren was on the ball and did an outstanding job serving 43 people. She knew our names when speaking to us. I ordered a specialty cocktail, a salad and the prime rib. I will go back with a smaller group. Great place for a special occasion, so festive.

Took my husband to Bacchus Bistro last night for his birthday celebration. He insisted this is where he wanted to go for the prime rib. We ordered the calamari to start and it was amazing. Then we had our salads, he had Caesar salad and I had the butter lettuce and Fuji apple salad. He ordered the cowboy cut of prime rib with a substitution of green beans instead of Brussels sprouts and I ordered the salmon. It was all amazing. Our waitress was Victoria who we had been lucky enough to have on two other occasions. She is an excellent waitress and she remembered us. Everyone who works there is so friendly and willing to help with a smile. The chef makes amazing food. We will be going back for my birthday and maybe our anniversary too.
