I had the Omakase menu. Very unique experience, majority of dishes are delicious. Honestly, majority of dishes, I didn't understand what I ate. I didn't care as everything tasted great and it was a fun experience. I just remembered the A5 Waygu, Abalone, Lamb, and there was caviar. You definitely are getting what you paid.Service was wonderful and very great. FYI - only half the Omakase price has a service fee. So remember to tip properly.

I was visiting from LA for the holidays and this place was recommended to me for their Chirashi Bowl and I wish I could've rate it and my experience higher.Food: 2/10. I got the Chirashi Bowl combo and all of the appetizers were amazing! The Chirashi Bowl looked just as amazing! Unfortunately, as I got to the Chirashi Bowl itself to eat.. I picked up my first piece of fish and found a piece of hair. At first, I thought it could have been my own hair, but I have black hair and the hair found looked red. I have worked in the food service industry and have around 8 years of experience, so I completely understand that it happens. Though, when the waitress sent my bowl back, I overheard the sushi chef stating that what I found looked like part of the brush hair he uses and it shouldn't be an issue to eat. The waitress then said to him, "It's better to be safe than sorry." Again, I understand that wasting food sucks, especially with high-quality raw fish, but it's better to be clean and hygienic. The chef instantly remade my bowl and I was so excited. The bowl started off and looked absolutely amazing and beautiful, but I noticed that the cuts weren't as good. I noticed lots of salmon skin that looks like it should have been cut off. Again, I thought that maybe it was a one time thing in my bowl but no, there were multiple cuts of salmon skin that was hard and I couldn't even eat it because it was hard and inedible. Example: I would eat a fish, but would bite into it and it would be so rough/hard, I would have to spit it out to the side because it was inedible. I love sushi/sashimi and have dined at many establishments, but I have never been to a restaurant that kept on the salmon skin. While communicating to friends about the incident via text, they assured me that it was not a normal instance. Towards the end of the bowl, the fish started to taste sour to the taste as well. I assumed that my negative thoughts were getting to my head as the experience has started to go downhill, but my boyfriend got the same exact bowl and had absolutely no issue (no salmon skin nor hard fish or sour fish). He then tried my fish after finishing his whole bowl and also agreed that mine tasted sour/funky compared to his and urged me to not finish the bowl for safety purposes. Already finding a hair, I did not want to make another complaint and be a difficult customer and cause any more issues/inconveniences for the restaurant, so I simply just did not finish my bowl. Overall, I was not even disappointed at the hair being found, but felt very very disappointed at the quality of the bowl. I was so upset and felt sick to my stomach all night.Service: 10/10. The one star is for the awesome service we experienced. The waitresses helping me and my boyfriend out were so incredibly kind and so attentive to all of our needs. When the waitress saw the hair on the fish, she seemed very empathetic and validated what I saw. The waitress was the one to apologize to me for the incident and to tell the sushi chef to remake my bowl. Another waitress helped us out when paying and she also apologized for the incident and gave us a 10% discount for "what transpired." It was a nice gesture because we were not expecting anything from the staff.Ambiance: Cute indoor seating along with it being spacious and clean. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and it was pretty clean in there as well.Overall, I am hopeful that I personally just dined on an off night. I do still wish success for this restaurant, but hope that this instance does not happen to another customer.

I've been wanting to try a special omakase dinner for the longest time, and when I saw that Azayaka was serving it at a reasonable price, I was all over it. You can make a reservation through their webpage and save some dough since it is cheaper than a walk-in. Also, the walk-in is not guaranteed seating, so if you are set on omakase at a certain time, make sure to do the reservation. You have to make a 50% deposit to secure the reservation. It's a nice simple restaurant without a lot of fancy decor, which shows me they are all about the food. Once you tell them you have your reservation they will guide you to place settings at the bar.I posted a picture of their winter omakase menu. It had some amazing exotic dishes that I never thought I'd be trying. The first and foremost was the grilled shirako (google it). I've heard of it before, and I admit it didn't sound like something I wanted to eat, but I was gonna try everything and get the full experience. Lo and behold it was actually quite tasty and the texture was rich and creamy. It was mild and a little smokey flavored. A very unique experience indeed. The second exotic item I had was the monkfish liver. It also had a smokey flavor and a rich texture. I was glad I had a chance to experience it. The omakase included 8 pieces of nigiri, and they were all excellent and super fresh and of the highest quality. My favorites being the torched A5 wagyu with truffle on top and the torched otoro (fatty tuna) of course. Other highlights included a grilled lamb chop with kiwi jam. That was super fantastic and I can remember all the flavors distinctly. OMG the hand roll! It was just incredible, so fresh and tasty, it was the best hand roll I've ever had "hands down". I've never tried chazuki before and it was a really nice end to the meal. It had abalone that was not tough but chewy enough like abalone should be. The rice had some sear to it with smokey goodness. Dessert was a multi layer cake that was really light and delectable. The chef was really cool, friendly, and pleasant. He explained things and answered questions and it was a treat to see him create every tasty morsel. I had high expectations going in and boy was I satisfied and more. I'm looking forward to coming back for the spring menu and even coming to dine here for their regular menu. I was impressed and highly recommend it to everyone.

I went here for date night and loved it! It was busy, but the service was still fast. They also had a deal on hot sake that we saw on Instagram that was perfect for a rainy night. My partner is not a big sushi fan, so he loved the option of getting a chicken katsu set. The portions for the sets were great, and I really enjoyed the Fire Dragon Roll I got. It was not too spicy and had a bunch of toppings. Our server was very kind, and I enjoyed getting to see the chefs creating the food with the clear glass in between. I cannot wait to try the cocktails next time and hopefully try their omakase in the future!

Absolutely 5 stars! What a great Japanese Restaurant. Loved the smiling and friendly greeting from several of the staff, immediately seated although they were getting ready to close. My Spider Roll was fantastic, big and crunchy. Hubby loved his salmon bento box. The beer selection is fantastic and even the few wines they had on the menu were OK too.I can't wait to go back here again. Hint... they are opening a new place in Roseville, very close to my house. Yippee!

Best Japanese food that I've had in ages! And I eat Japanese restaurant food frequently, more than 2X / month. This brightly lighted, clean, welcoming place looks like any other small strip mall mom & pop humble eatery. Looks can occasionally be deceiving. Okay I was primed by the excellent Yelp aggregate score and the many, many enthusiastic reviews. I actually drove 15 miles outt'a my planned route towards home to eat here. And I'm so glad that I did!Ordered the $20 salmon teriyaki bento box combo meal. Astounding was the variety, portions sizes and deliciousness of the other 5 items on the platter. Two BIG slabs of salmon. The salad was fresh picked from the garden delicious. Even the requisite bowl of white rice was perfectly cooked. At the end of the meal I told the server that I live in Roseville. She beams a beautiful smile and says "We are opening restaurant in Roseville close to the Costco by the end of the year". I nearly exploded with joy.Guess who is going to be their favorite customer?

My friend and I have been wanting to try Azayaka for a while and decided to go for lunch...did not disappoint. Everything was super fresh and the plates were presented beautifully. I ordered from the lunch special, the rainbow roll was great and portions were pretty good. My friend ordered the Bara Chirashi Don and loved it. Other dishes to consider: Mixed tempura and agedashi tofu- both perfectly fried and not greasy at all.Chawanmushi- warm and silky, very satisfying to eat. Can't wait to return :)

Don't sleep on Azayaka Japanese Fusion! Had lunch here with the husband and we were both extremely satisfied with our meals. We ordered the chu toro carpaccio, house ramen, chicken katsu, fire dragon roll and double toro roll. The fish was fresh, the katsu was banging and the ramen hit the spot. I wished the toro was a little more fatty and my husband was hoping the ramen would be spicer, but both were still good. Come for lunch, which was when we came, to get their lunch special. A specialized lunch menu that includes 2 appetizers (smaller portion than regular), a main dish or roll, and a drink. The service was great so we will definitely be back. They do offer omakase that requires advanced reservations, so hopefully we'll get to try this out soon.

One of my favorite sushi spots in Sacramento. I really like ordering the kaisen don and upgrading it to a combo. The service is also always excellent. I would definitely return again. The sashimi is consistently fresh and I have yet to be disappointed by the quality of their food. The seating is also spacious and clean. However do not upgrade if you are ordering to go as they will not give you the steamed egg or the soba noodles.
