I love AYSO. It is a volunteer program to help keep coats down. We have amazing coaches and my son has developed his soccer skills.

I love AYSO. I love that our kids have a low cost program in our area. It is a 100% volunteer program and it brings our community closer.

Not an organization that is organized nor thinking of the kids first. Our son's team didn't have a coach and instead of splitting them into the other teams we got the "they are all filled" excuse. However when they tried to convince us to coach, they kept saying it's wasn't hard and the kids just run around. So what is my $200 paying for? For my kid to go outside and run? Also if the parent coaches the team, they do not get a break in the $200...

I have to give a 3 star...because the year I coached was fun and I loved it...except dealing with the condescending, arrogant other parent coach...the second year was a horror story. The parents, the coaches, nothing was organized and the constant begging for volunteers...omg. These poor kids, deserve better. It makes me sad.

Do not join! Check out North Highlands Antelope Soccer instead. I registered my son with AYSO for the fall to try soccer for the first time. I paid a few months ago and waited for news. A week ago I got a phone call stating my sons team had no coach and asking that I volunteer. I explained that I have a new baby and no soccer knowledge. I was told that is fine because kids this age dont need a great coach and it was only one hour per week...a 30 minute practice followed by a 30 minute game. I was appalled....I paid over $100 and should now coach these kids myself..with no soccer knowledge...for only an hour a week? I talked to his basketball team mate who registered with North Highlands Antelope soccer league and they have regular twice per week practices as well as weekend games...for the samefee! I tried to call AYSO and you can only leave a message. I waited two day w no response. I sent an email to every contact email on their site requesting a refund so I can late register him to the other organization. Finally I got a call from someones angry husband stating I could have a refund of the registration fee but NOT for his uniform as I had already washed it in anticipation of the season I paid for months ago thats set to start soon. So i have a uniform I have no use for that I paid for. AND even though I paid cash....he doesnt know when where or how I will get my refund for the remainder of my money. I was then rudely told that if I thought "3 hours of practice a week is appropriate" for my son that I should take him to the other league (um yes I believe receiving the coaching hours I paid for is entirely appropriate thanks!) Implying that I am a bad mother. And THEN told that if I wanted a coach that knew the game I should check around and find that I would have to pay $200 or more per month. I advised him that I am already registering my son withe North Highlands Antelope league for the exact same price withe twice a week regular practices AND games. He was condescending and rude throughout the conversation. I am left with a $30 I believe uniform that he has no use for and a promise of a partial refund...somehow...someday....somewhere. While that worked for West Side Story...it doesnt work for ME NOW. I will be attending their every function until I receive my refund.

Dysfunctional, unorganized, unethical, favoritism at play. The list goes on. Words cannot describe how horrible and ridiculous this region (Antelope 884) is. The entire staff and all boardmembers have zero clue as to how to properly run and manage a 100%volunteer program. If we as parents are paying for the league, plus required to volunteer at some level, we are supposed to paint the fields, make the goals, referee, etc. However, and though we are doing all the work + paying 150+ for our kids to play, we should have some say as to how things get run not be ostracized when we speak up. Bottomline, I've been involved with ayso for over 30yrs this chapter is by far the worst and every individual who currently runs any aspect of including board members should resign or be fired and volunteers should be able to make that call.

This League is all Volunteer Based. Awesome!!! A community that can come together and be Volunteers for the children to play a team sport is AMAZING! AYSO ANTELOPE REGION 884 is a "HIGH SCHOOL CLICK" who runs the league. Player Safety is their number one concern they state, but the referees are all volunteer and are shorthanded because of this. Nobody is over seeing/regulating the referees one bit and coaching them. I have seen some on their cell phones on the side lines as referees during games. Ive seen young kids get high kicked in their chests and no calls were made and the parents had to yell loud enough to stop the game to get the player assisted off the field. Ive seen kids shoulder slammed to the ground and no calls were made. Volunteer referees don't work... PERIOD. Pay the league's REFS and train them to be great! This was my son's first year in this league and we will not be back next year. Very sad. AYSO is all about player safety they pledge... Well that's far from the truth. The fields the kids play on are sub par and have sprinkler sink holes and mud pits. Sunrise Parks and Rec should be on this if AYSO is paying them. Seems to me this UNION is not putting the money in the right ways. There are way too many working parts in this league and it seems like it cannot be organized enough to be great because of that. Don't get me wrong though, It's very tough to operate something this big but as a parent when it comes to safety for my child, I'm not allowing subpar awareness when the league is a hypocrite to this by far. Also I was volunteering to help line paint, I showed up on time before the coordinators. I was given the basics on what they expect on the "how to," then minding my own business doing what I was told more parents showed up over a half hour late and came up to me scrutinizing me on how I was painting the lines. Unacceptable if we all are volunteers for the kids. We are suppose to be a community and not a "CLICK". If AYSO wants a CLICK then don't have volunteers! This should be all about the kids playing FAIR and FUN soccer.

This is our 3rd year in Antelope AYSO and our kids are having a blast. We have noticed how much their skills have improved in this short amount of time playing soccer. I like that the as long as the uniform still fits, there is no need to buy a new one every year. That really helps keep the already reasonable sign-up fees low.
