I've eaten here at least a dozen times over the past 12 years, it's the first vegan restaurant I ever ate at up here in NorCal. I've never had anything I didn't love. You wait for it a while because it's freshly made and worth it. The service is very good but depends on who is working. A couple of times I've walked in and they informed me they are closing in 30 minutes so it's too late to dine in. That is pretty embarrassing since I like to eat in. Generally, you can eat in until the closing time, not 30 minutes earlier. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool, spiritual and relaxing.

Vegetarian Vietnamese hidden gem found!!!Food:Maha mushrooms - 5/5 - amazingly impressiveTempura okra - 4.5/5 - pretty good Awakening of faith (vegetarian version of bun thit nuong cha gio)- 5/5 - this is super delicious; an absolute favorite! A must try!Self-nurturing chow fun - 4/5 - pretty good but not impressionable Supreme noodles - 4/5 - delicious fragrant spicy broth but too few pieces of vegan beef, instead it was loaded with lots of variety of veggies Urban monk bowl - 5/5 - a delicious version of bún thịt nướng chay ... plentiful cuts of vegan grilled meat on traditional Vietnamese style vermicelli with fish sauceAmbience:The outside looks like a hidden wooden box.Modern with emphasis on Buddhism. Flavors were outstanding in my Inner Peace Bowl. Though I wouldn't call the "crispy lotus root" crispy, they added a unique and nice umami flavor. My pineapple lemonade was refreshing. I asked for it to be less sweet - it has brown sugar- and it was. The atmosphere was a nice easy vibe. Servers were informed, helpful and available. A unique cafe. Solid 4 star. Not sure what to recommend to raise it- perhaps next time will tell.

I've been coming to this restaurant for about 7 years now and the food never disappoint! I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I truly enjoy what they serve, especially their fire grill dishes (Awakening of Faith is my all time favorite). Every time I crave vegetables or anything clean for my body, this is the first place in my mind. The service is solid and the food is always outstanding. I've tried almost everything on the menu and they're either good or exceed my expectations -- never bad! The place could use a little renovation (the ceiling looked like it had water damage which can be a hazard in the future), a little bit cleaner (the floor is almost always sticky and full of crumbs when we dine in) but those small details disappear when food is served.

Parking is street parking around the corner. There is always spots open. They have both indoor and outdoor eating. They have tables set out in front in their entry way. We've eaten out there before. It's' nice and secluded. Usually we eat in the first table by the door. We usually arrive 11:30 on a weekday and it's usually empty. This past time we went it was busy, there were 4 tables eating when we arrived at Noon. Our go to is Inner Peace. It's a cold noodle salad that comes with a fired egg roll. It's really light and tastes fresh and delicious.I highly recommend this place.

Andy Nguyen's is another amazing Sac establishment. The restaurant itself is cozy, well decorated and accommodating to parties of various sizes. The staff is also incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and kind. The egg rolls were delicious and we also tried the Buddha rolls which were fresh and incredibly well seasoned. We also ordered the tempura fries to share which were delicious! The tempura batter was the perfect amount of salty and they came out hot and crispy. We went through them so fast! For my main I ordered the Self Nurturing Chow Fun. The portion sizes here are very generous. The rice noodles were chewy and delicious, but I wasn't a big fan of the satay sauce. I also felt as though the tofu and veggies could've been cooked a little more. Overall, the experience was wonderful and I would love to go again and explore more of their menu until I find something I LOVE.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. In the past, Joe K and I often dined at their location in Rancho Cordova, which was not entirely devoted to plant based cuisine. Unfortunately, that one eventually closed. But on a positive note, I was invited to attend a UYE, arranged by one of my Yelp friends: Bridget W. She is a true vegetarian, so I was excited to finally go to an event that included an intimate party of other Yelp friends which I hadn't seen in over a year since Joe K passed away. When it comes to vegetarian and vegan foods, I'm all for it! When it is served Vietnamese style, well, that's even better! The interior dining room is a bit small and cozy, so large parties may not work well here. Our server, Jannessa did a nice job taking care of our party of six. The menu has a nice selection of delicious options, making choosing somewhat hard. I finally narrowed my desire for "Inner Peace": Rice noodles, crispy lotus roll, lettuce, cucumbers, sprouts, carrots, mixed seasonal herbs, toasted crushed peanuts w/ house vinaigrette. To accompany my meal, I chose one of their "Elixirs of Life" beverages: the "Shaolin Monk": a combination of strawberry, banana, pineapple, spirulina and matcha.Everyone ordered different dishes and seem to really enjoy the food. My dinner was very satisfying and actually brought me some inner peace. I think it was not just the food, but the company that gave me some comfort for being out of touch from Yelp events for awhile and socializing without Joe K. Thanks again to Bridget W. for inviting me and reuniting us together to include Jenny P., David O., Alex T., and Nancy M. I look forward to another UYE again!

My bf brought me here and I had a lot of doubts because I usually don't go for vegetarian meals. Andy Nguyen's changed my mind forever! The first time I went there I had a beef dish and the "meat" melted in my mouth. The next few times, I ordered the Buddha Bowl which hits the spot every time. I'm sad it looks like this spot is temporarily closed but we'll be waiting patiently for it to open again.

There are no physical menus. Instead they rely on a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone. This is fine but the website isn't that great. Noodle soup items were in the small bites tab for some reason? They should revamp the site to have more specific tabs or a better UI overall. Scrolling up and down trying to figure out what to order is honestly not as great as a full blown menu that most other restaurants employ. It's definitely great for sanitary reasons at least. Moving on to food. I ordered the Loco Moco and was pleasantly surprised how good it tasted. The only thing I wished was that the sweet sauce was less since I kept referencing back to the "meat patty" to help balance the sweetness. I wish there were two eggs. Egg rolls were amazing. Would order again.

Andy Nguyen's continues to improve and impress, so I'm updating this review to give this local veggie-forward restaurant the extra credit it deserves. I recently came in with a friend to try their Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge menu. I look forward to what Andy Nguyen's comes up with every year, and this one was even better than the last. All three items sounded amazing, so we just ordered one of everything to share. Wow, it was all really good. The lemongrass beef spring rolls were particularly terrific and I hope find a home on the permanent menu. And Lion's Mane mushrooms? Yeah, more chefs definitely need to get familiar with these because they're phenomenal. Since my last review the front facade of the restaurant now has a small, enclosed patio that allows for dining al fresco in a very zen way. It's also a dog-friendly space. Locals have known about this spot for decades. It's also likely that this restaurant has been around longer than most of the people that'll read this review. So if you're not from Sacramento, put this one on your list the next time you pass through town because you are going to love it. And if you're local and still haven't been to Andy Nguyen's... what are you waiting for?!?
