My friend lives down here and I just started walking and came across this beautiful shop. I was so gladly invited by Miranda. She was so unbelievably sweet and she gave Daisy a treat. I love the layout. I love how inviting it is to come inside here and read a book and just look.I enjoy the ambience of building itself. It's very inviting. I can't wait to Come back here they have amazing service and it's really easy to buy and find one that suits you.Their books are priced at amazing prices and it's not like they're trying to profit off of people in Sacramento but rather provide services and a safe space . If you're ever in the area, I most definitely say to stop and come look at this bookstore :)

This amazing bookstore combines two of my favorite things - used books and art! I have visited their wonderful shop and always find some cool books to buy (and their sweet merch too!). Even better (because I don't live in Sacramento) they have a large online offering with fast shipping and a personalized note! This store is an absolute gem and I hope they thrive forever!

If you are addicted to beautiful books, you are in luck. Amatoria is a used book store that specializes in books about culture - food, fine art, architecture, you name it. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their inventory. If you are interested in a specific book or subject, they either probably have it, or something close. Or, you might choose to browse the stacks and see what piques your interest. Locals, you need to support independent retailers like Amatoria Fine Art Books, which enriches & reflects Sacramento's ecclectic and idiosyncratic relationship to the arts.

This place is a hidden gem. Their definition of "fine art" is really broad. It's not just art, it's cooking, it's architecture, it's tattooing, so there's a wide range of stuff you'll find here. They won't have the NYT bestsellers, but that's what is cool about this place. They have a really big selection of books, and they have a ton of speciality stuff that you wouldn't find at any bookstore. They also have art from local artists that you can buy, which I love. It's right on the corner, so it's hard to miss. There is hourly street parking, you can usually find a spot. If you're looking for a cool fine art book this is the spot you want to visit.

Found this little gem of a bookstore in Midtown today. New owner who obviously loves his store. Gorgeous books, neatly arranged and the owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about so many of them. If you haven't gone, you should!

By far the most pleasant bookstore in Sacramento - and perhaps all of California.Richard sells books on very specific subjects: any type of art (visual art, dance, music, design), architecture, food/wine and Judaica. He sometimes has new books, but specializes in used, antique and otherwise rare books, and his collection makes many (academic or otherwise) library rare book collections pale by comparison. He's also tremendously knowledgeable and is sure to have good advice for anyone collecting books on art or in the other areas of his expertise. He has recently moved - the I Street address is no longer accurate - and can now be found at 1831 F Street, just a few blocks from his old location. The new shop is a vast improvement, with more light, more room and - above all - more books!

What an enjoyable, relaxing few hours my friend and I spent this afternoon at this bookstore. There's classical music playing, and plenty of places to sit and inspect the goods. The gentleman that runs it is kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable about what he has. And boy, does he have some great reads. Being a fan of art and photography, I was in heaven! My friend bought a few books for gifts and one for herself. I didn't purchase anything today because I've been watching my wallet, but I will be back when I have some extra dough or need a special gift. I would recommend this place to any person who loves art, reading, or just wants something to do with a free afternoon. Say hi to the cat.

What a hidden gem in Sacramento midtown. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Laurelin and Miranda, the owners, for a book buy out. I ended up making 2 trips to the store and they purchased a lot of my cherished art books. They are such wonderful ladies and so fair with the pricing of the book buy out. The book store is very calming, even a book lounge to sit and preview your book purchases. Their passion for books and their community speaks volumes for women in business. Their store really contributes to the community and I wish them many years of continued success.
