A Rare 5-Star Unicorn Review!Okay, folks, this is a rare one--I don't just hand out 5 stars, but this place? Well, they earned every single one. Not only was the food outstanding, but the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The service was spot on--attentive without being overbearing, which is exactly what you want when the people you're dining with are the real focus.I was a little skeptical when I saw the variety on the menu. Sometimes, a big menu can mean that the quality or flavor might fall short. But nope--I was totally wrong! Everything was delicious and exceeded my expectations. One of the ladies and a few people I know from church highly recommended this spot, and I'm so glad I took their advice. I'm officially a fan.The decor screams "family-owned and loved." The owner's parents and family have been running this business for decades, and you can feel the history and love in every corner. I even noticed photos on the wall of long-time customers who've been coming for years, and it inspired me to think, "Hey, I want to be one of those folks on the wall in about 10 years!"If the service, food, and atmosphere stay this great, I have no doubt that'll be me! Give this place a shot, and let me know what you think. You just might become a regular too!

I've been wanting to give this place a tru for years! I always heard great things about their food but just never found myself compelled to visit. I've been recovering from a crazy migraine that had me down for a full week and i wanted something comforting so requested Alonzo's for breakfast! The place was busy but services was going and there was an open booth perfect for me and the hubby since it was open seating. I must say i like the way they have the menus on the table under a glass topper. It just makes sense! Because my migraine i only ordered pozole! Hubby ordered chillesquilles! Man the pozole is flavorful, i expected it to me hotter temp wise but i didnt bother to send back since i was full after only a few bites! Don't worry i took it home along with the homemade tortillas and heat it up right after my nap. The chillesquilles was pretty big and had good sauce to me. Hubby felt like the verde sauce overpowered the other flavors but i liked it. I want to come back and actually enjoy a full meal when I'm not recovering from a migraine cause they had some good things on the menu and great music playing.

30+ YEARS AND GOING! With a city that's ever growing, this place has always been here and is sure to stay. On Fruitridge and Stockton Blvd you'll see this in the updated plaza! Can't decide if you want Mexican or American? You can have both here at any time! Stop on it for their amazing breakfast and brunch offerings! There's a reason why they've stayed in business for so long and it's because of the chefs at work. They come seasoning the food to perfection. You can't go wrong with any selection.

I visited Alonzo's while searching for a good bowl of menudo and may have stumbled on a great place for breakfast or lunch. The menudo was maybe the best I have ever tasted in Sacramento, but the rest of the menu looked inviting ranging from American and Mexican breakfasts to Mexican lunch items. We were here one time on a weekend morning when the whole place was filled, but the service was very quick and pleasant as the servers are always knowledgeable and friendly whether the place is hopping or not. I have come back about five times for breakfast and have checked out other menu items and have been more than pleased..

Hands down the best Pozole in Sacramento, Period!!!! A Comfy restaurant that's been updated because of the shopping center remodel but serving up the same Mexican/ American cuisine. The service is very attentive, place is clean and not too loud. The other food on the menu is good as well but in my opinion the star is the Pozole. Very good flavor with hominy and big chunks of tender beef. A must try but be prepared to go home and take a nap after.

First time here. Jaden was amazing. He was helpful with suggestions on what to order. We ordered pozole and menudo both were amazing! There are lots of choices both Mexican food and American food. We will definitely be coming back. They play my kind of oldies music too. Thank you for the great food, service and music

Came in for breakfast with my BF on a Saturday. The place was busy and the wait time was short. There is a nice selection of breakfast and lunch. I would recommend sticking to the Mexican breakfast menu which is wonderful. I made the mistake of ordering the American breakfast. My omelette was over cooked, with brown baked edges. It was bland and lacked flavor. The hash browns were cold and flavorless. The sole reason for the 3 stars was based on my breakfast. My boyfriend ordered the huevos rancheros. The portion was large and very tasty. Excellent service and our food arrived quickly. Our sever was nice and very accommodating. Great prices and a nice menu selection. I'll be back for the menudos, which is the specialty.

Expensive and underwhelming. 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 small links for 12.50 plus tax and tip. Pancake not good, links probably cost like .25 cents each, processed stuff. I'll just eat at home. Mc donalds has better pancakes, big breakfast at mcdonalds is a better value.

Pozole:This is one of the best pozole I had in my life. It has everything you want in pozole. It was complex, strong, hearty, meaty, and had the right amount of oil. It makes you feel warm and refreshed on a cold day. It tasted like it was stewed for hours and was homemade; I could taste the chili and pork. The pork was so tender and there was a lot of it. I had 2 pieces of pork in every bite. The lime, cabbage, and onions cut the richness perfectly as well. It is seriously worth $15; it can feed up to 2 people. The tortilla was fresh and went perfectly with the hominy and pork. Every single bite was absolutely perfect. Chicken Enchilada Verde:I wasn't expecting this to be so good. I was craving for pozole, but the enchilada was next level. The chicken, tortillas, and salsa verde had a perfect balance. The chicken was soft, tender, and rich, and the salsa verde cut the richness perfectly. It had the perfect amount of cheese; it didn't overpower it. It was so delicious that I wanted to order a second one, but unfortunately, they ran out. This is a great sign at a restaurant; it means everything is fresh can be.
