I am once again imploring anyone who comes across this food truck to GET THE KRUNCH WRAP. Finally, after what felt like forever waiting for them to come back around to the Capitol, I got to order the krunch wrap again. This time, I got al pastor. The two options are al pastor or chicken or for $1 extra, asada. If you can't stand those two options, sure go ahead and order with the asada, but if you could go either way, choose the al pastor! It was so tender, flavorful, and juicy. I've only had al pastor this delicious one other time and have been chasing down that flavor for almost two years now and am happy to say I have found it with Ahuevo's al pastor. On top of that, the tostada inside is so unbelievably crispy and light and the toasted cheese on the outside is so genius. Those are probably the two characteristics that I love the most about this menu item. A few things were different with my experience this time, but nothing that would garner a lower rating. First, it was served in a nacho style tray rather than a takeout box. Not the biggest fan because it's difficult to transport, but on a good day, find a bench and you'll be just as comfortable as if you ate it in your office. Second, there were significantly less tortilla chips included. I counted maybe like six... but! They're not really important to the dish, except for when some of the fillings inevitably fall into the tray and you're left with the tortilla chips to scoop them up (you don't wanna waste this stuff). Lastly, there was no side sauce like when I ordered the asada, but again, not necessary! I wasn't a big fan of the sauce to begin with when I tried it, because the flavors are so balanced in the krunch wrap by itself that it's just not needed. Ok, one other thing that was different- the fillings were so generous! Last time I was biting into some thick layers of tortilla, but this time they got the ratio on the money. If you can only get one thing from this truck, get this and you will not regret it whatsoever. And just to emphasize, the quality versus the price of the food is absolutely insane. With surging food prices, I was happy paying $12 and am looking forward to hopefully seeing them in front of the Capitol again.

I love trying different food trucks at Jan Rau Park in Elk Grove and was fortunate to have tried Ahuevo Foods for lunch during this visit.I ordered the Anticuchos: 2 beef heart skewers marinated over fries with a side of rocoto chili aioli. My first time trying beef heart and it was pretty good. The meat itself was a bit tough - which I expected - but not so much that I couldn't chew through it. That rocoto chili aioli was delicious: spicy and full of flavor!I also tried the Lomo Saltado Burrito: sautéed steak, onions, tomatoes, fried egg, fries, Peruvian sauces, queso fresco, and cilantro wrapped in a huge flour tortilla. Wow, was this an amazing explosion of flavor! And it was big enough to be split with my daughter. I have no idea what Pervuvian sauces are but it's so yummy that I'd put in on just about anything. This burrito was so satisfying and delicious. If you happen to see Ahuevo Foods at your next neighborhood event, give them a try if you like spicy, flavorful burritos! They're nice people, too!

Food truck came to my daughter's school, went to try their California burrito. My daughter who is vegetarian asked them to either put the meat on the side or make it with no meat, you would think this is an easy request but we were denied, can you believe that, they flat out told us they would not do either of those things. I wanted to leave but my daughter decided to go with the vegan (yam) tacos and a horchata. She said the tacos were pretty good. Dropped a star for customer service.

The street tacos were delicious. The pineapple was the perfect touch on the Al pastor taco. The chicken was my favorite. Could have used more lime. And I wasn't a fan of their house made red salsa.

Wow, let me start by saying that this is by far one of the best food trucks I've ever ate at. I've been to multiple food trucks in different states and out of the country as well. I DO NOT understand some of the bad reviews I read from people. It seems like they don't understand the type of food truck this is. It is NOT your typical taco truck so let's make that clear. We ate at this food truck when they were in Vacaville this past weekend and it was AMAZING!! The portions were very generous for the amount we paid. You can't get these portions anywhere else for this price. Me and my boyfriend love trying new foods and especially love going to smaller businesses.Unfortunate we didn't get the chance to take that many pictures because we dived right in. We ordered the Lomo Burrito, Chamoy Wings, Elote, (forgive me for this, I can't remember the name) the steak stir fry noodles. Everything was delicious and I'm very picky with my food. Perfectly seasoned, freshly made, and just cooked to perfection. Thanks again, well for sure be back soon.

I had been craving Lomo Saltado from La Huaca, but Roseville was a little too far for me, so I was so excited to stumble across Ahuevo and find out they often come to the Elk Grove area! TL;DR: I've tried their Lomo Saltado and Lomo Burro and both were delicious! The meat isn't super tender, and was a little on the tough side for the Lomo Saltado, but the flavors are all on point! The flavors are bold and full of depth!LOCATION: They are a food truck that you can follow on Instagram for their weekly locations. We've tried them at local parks in Elk Grove, as well as at the NeighborGood Market in EG. SERVICE: The people running the food truck were very friendly. You can now order online ahead of time on their Square site! The link for this is on their Instagram page.FOOD: The Lomo Saltado came with a green sauce that was herby and vibrant with a kick to it, and it complimented the flavors the steak was marinated in. The Lomo Burro also had a wonderful balance of flavor. It came with their signature hot sauce that provide the perfect kick to the meat and fries in the burrito. We bought that hot sauce, which came in it's own convenient squeeze bottle, for $6 and we were glad we did! It's got a wonderful smoky flavor that pairs well with a number of dishes. PRICE: The food can be a little on the pricier side but it's pretty fair for a food truck. They don't skimp on portions or flavor so it's worth it. The Lomo Burro was $10 and the Lomo Saltado was $15.

Ok so at first I thought this was a standard taco truck. After eating their food I found out it is much more. Their food is a Mexican of Mexican and Peruvian and the flavor combinations are outta this world. I got the taco trio which was to die for. The el Pastor was new to me but packed a heck of a flavor. The main home run was the Peruvian chicken quesadilla and wow. This was the best quesadilla I've ever had in my life. It had amazing chicken, perfect crisp and the sauce inside was booming with flavor. I truly had to share it with friends to show them how good it was, everyone agreed. The hot sauce pairing was also amazing. When you talk about having quick great food truck food, this is the home run you hope to run into!! Also they are always at breweries/taprooms in Sacramento so follow them on Instagram to ensure you can grab their food!

Very intriguing Mex/Latin fusion food truck. I ordered from the truck at Track7 Brewing, grabbing some chamoy wings and a lomo burrito. The lomo burrito was inspired by Pervuian lomo saltado, a stir fry dish made with sirloin. This made a great burrito filling. The ingredients seemed quite fresh and well prepared. The chamoy wings were well fried and tossed in a cravable sweet, mildly spicy chamoy sauce. I'd order those again in a heartbeat. I'd like to try more of their offerings. This is a very promising food truck. I see you, Ahuevo.

As an annoying vegan, I didn't think this meaty Mexican/Peruvian fusion food truck was going to have anything for me. But I was so wrong. We got the Vegan AF taco plates, and OMG!!! So good! Two tortillas, fried yams, cabbage slaw, radishes, and hot sauce. Two creative, satisfying, delicious tacos for $9. Highly recommend you check it out. I know I'll be back. (Nom-nom-nom)
