The food was absolutely delicious, "(Ace)" The Owner/Operator is top-notch, a True staple in the Downtown Sacramento scene and The Kindest Man in Foodservice, Upon entry "The ambiance was perfect" greeted by delicious scents of fresh veggies and seasonings only a visit to the restaurant will be able to justify my words.. So don't hesitate "We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and "It was a very satisfying meal. THANK YOU FOR THE LOVELY SERVICE AND HOSPITALITY!

These bad reviews are WHACK. Most likely rival gyro shops trying to turn away customers. I've tried every shop in town and aces is the BEST. Crispy spicy flavorful meat seasoning on POINT. The owner is very welcoming and the food is authentic

Rude owner and nasty rancid food. I came here a few times, I thought at first the food was really good. The fresh cilantro, the yogurt sauce and hummus seemed fresh and good.The flat bread however was stale and hard, like a cracker which is a symptom of a bigger problem. A lot of the food just sits out on the grill, the meats are prepared in bulk and just sit on the grill to stay warm. The meat on top becomes stale and dry and tastes like, rancid, gamey, fishy, old meat at first I didn't notice and I enjoyed my meal but the next couple of times, it tasted worse and worse. When I would order during slower times the meat still sat on the grill, still prepared in bulk but sitting for extended periods. The rice is just plain white basmati it's sometimes plasticy and hard. The prices are also on the high side for cheap and mediocre food. When I got two plates the cost was nearly 45 dollars. They seem nice, they have their whole family, even the kids there. I thought it was a very wholesome family business but the owner does have a bad attitude, he has a holier than thou attitude and sometimes refuses to say thank you. Almost like he does you a favor by taking your money. The way he's bashing and bullying other customers who've had similar experiences makes me feel obligated to leave a review of my own experiences.

It took 45 minutes to get food even though I was told it would take 15 minutes and restaurant was unapologetic.Wow.. responded quicker to my yelp review than your food was ready.Yes, I showed up early .. by like 5 minutes. That still doesn't explain why it took 45 minutes to get food at lunch time. I leave reviews when I feel it's necessary not just bad ones. Do yourself a favor everyone and go to Petra Greek, the food is better and if and when they screw up they try to make it right with the customers unlike this guy ace.lol not lying it did take 45 minutes lol it's funny that you knew my whole situation even though you were so swamped! How could you possibly have time for that. Look at his responses to everyones reviews. We can't all be lying.

Ordered my food and went out to my car to watch the kickball game until it was ready, I was going to come in when it was ready.The owner came out to scowl at me when my food was ready and acted like I was stupid for waiting in my car.The foods alright but it's the same as almost every where else, it seems like the meat sits on the grill for extended periods because it sometimes tastes gamey and fishy. The rice is alright too but it's cooked on the firm-hard side and sometimes seems plasticky.They have decent hummus and the included flat bread is hard and just sits out on the grill(like everything else.) until they put it onto your plate.I like to patronize small businesses but I don't understand the owners pissy attitude, I have better things to do than be treated like an idiot when I'm doing you a favor. The plates are nearly 20.00$ a piece so there's nothing to draw me back. I've watched numerous business go under at this location and it won't hurt to watch another.Edit: 10-27-2024 Owner is also a bully, I do leave a lot of one star reviews, I like to let others know when I've made a mistake so they don't do the same, so I'll more likely write a review for somewhere I've had a bad experience than somewhere I've enjoyed.I feel like a lot of people are the same way. Always happy to leave a five star for a diamond in the rough, but this isn't it. Sorry again

The mixed shawarma is delicious. It has a good balance of flavor throughout the whole eating.

We were DESPERATE for Mediterranean food tonight and always struggle with finding a great place to eat this type of food in Midtown. We unfortunately had a terrible experience at another local Mediterranean spot in East Sac, so we took a chance at Ace's. This may be the best chance we've taken with food so far! Their food was fresh, filling, and packed with the flavor we were craving! The husband picked up the food and ordered there. He said the staff were friendly and the food was prepped quickly. We opted for the lamb plate, the mixed plate (which comes with lamb, steak, chicken) and a side of fries. When we opened up our plates, we were in awe of the massive portion and presentation! Everything was delicious and perfect in every way. Fresh salad, perfectly spiced meat, buttered pita, and amazing white sauce and hummus. And don't sleep on the fries! We always order them at any gyro spot and these were crispy slices of gold! We're self-proclaimed Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food enthusiasts, so we're not easily impressed. 10/10 would recommend Ace's and we can't wait to come back! Ps. Get it spicy!

I ordered food from here via DoorDash for the first time. I got mixed salad, side of falafel, and baklava with honey. The salad was big and gave lots of protein, good yogurt sauce, baklava with honey was so yummy better than chocolate baklava from Petra, everything was so yummy except felafels were burned...

I went to Ace's for the first time with my friend Kate today. I loved the veggie gyro, but as a vegan, I didn't get the tzatziki. It was outstanding. Kate ordered the chicken gyro, and Ace's was kind enough to cook my veggies on a clean grill, so I didn't get chicken in my food. I will definitely be back. Thank you. Kate loved hers, too!
