I was only in town for a day but I sure wish this was my local coffee shop! I love the ambience. The coffee and food was fantastic. Great owner.

Great atmosphere, but order accuracy needs improvement. The vibe of this coffee shop is fantastic--warm, inviting, and a great place to relax or catch up with friends. However, our experience was let down by order mistakes. We ordered a regular baklava but received chocolate baklava instead, and a simple double-shot Americano in our own container (no cream or milk), but it came with cream/milk. While mistakes happen, attention to detail is important, especially with straightforward orders. Hopefully, the staff can improve their listening skills to ensure customers get what they ask for. Would love to give this place another try if accuracy improves!

Yesterday, my husband and I experienced an unsettling and deeply concerning incident at 5 Sips that has left us disappointed and alarmed. On our way to dinner, we noticed the open sign, lights, and door at 5 Sips were all on. My husband, who is legally blind and uses a cane, decided to stop in briefly to greet Michael, the owner, as he regularly supports this business during the school season. However, the interaction with a young woman working there quickly escalated into something entirely unacceptable. When my husband entered, the young woman immediately said, "Sorry, we're closed." He politely asked if Michael was there, and she responded, "He's in the bathroom, but we're closed." My husband clarified that he just wanted to say hello and left when she continued to insist they were closed. However, her tone and behavior were dismissive, rude, and seemed unnecessarily rushed, leaving my husband confused but willing to let it go.About 15 minutes later, a police car pulled up behind us while we were sitting in our car. To our shock, an officer approached and informed us they had received a call claiming "an aggressive Black man with a stick" had entered the shop angrily demanding to see the owner. This blatant misrepresentation was appalling and deeply offensive. The "stick" in question was my husband's cane, and the so-called aggression never happened. As if that wasn't bad enough, the young woman also called two men--possibly her father and either her boyfriend or brother--to the scene. Her father spoke with the police and recounted what she had told him, which turned out to be a completely fabricated story. She claimed my husband entered the shop aggressively, mad, and looking to harm her and the owner. None of this was true, and the police were able to verify that with Michael, the owner, who vouched for my husband and confirmed he is a loyal, kind customer. It was also clear that the young woman had lied--not only about the interaction but also about Michael being in the bathroom--because she was apparently scared of a Black man. Her decision to escalate a harmless situation into one that involved police and her family was unprofessional and dangerous.Once Michael views the video footage, he will see clearly that his staff lied and created a scene for absolutely no reason. This behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment.Michael himself has nothing to do with this incident, and from the little interaction I've had with him and the positive things I've heard, he seems like an excellent person. This issue rests solely with the employee, who made false, racially charged assumptions and created a situation that could have had serious consequences for my husband. The young woman's actions were not only humiliating but could have led to a tragic outcome if the officers hadn't quickly realized the truth. Her behavior perpetuates harmful racial stereotypes and reflects poorly on the establishment.I urge the business to address this matter immediately. While Michael may be an outstanding individual, this employee's actions create an environment that feels unsafe and unwelcoming. Until there is accountability, I cannot support this establishment. My husband asked me not to write a review, as he likes the owner, however, her behavior was unacceptable. I will change my rating once we get this situation figured out.

Visited 5 Sips on New Year's Day and enjoyed grabbing a drink. The place was cozy, with average prices, and the staff was friendly overall. We got two lattes and some baklava, which were decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, but if I'm in the area, I'd stop by to support a local business.

This place is good, especially the service. I wanted to order the famous blue lavendar latte but maybe next time. Instead I ordered the Dubai Pistarching Chocolate latte and it was very good. My husband ordered a coffee and some sort of savory pastry and liked his order too. A gentleman (maybe the owner) stopped by our table and asked how we were doing, don't really see that type of service in a casual coffee shop, very nice. The desserts looked amazing, especially the baklava, but I controlled myself. Maybe next time!

Small coffee shop to get coffee, tea, drinks and something to eat. My review is solely on the drinks that we ordered. The price was reasonable but the drinks were okay. Street parking is better but still limited on time. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Second time visiting and great experience both times. Near the zoo so a great stop before you go. Plenty of parking out front and offers indoor and outdoor seating. Iced green tea is your norm. But I like they didn't overdo the ice. I hate when they fill the cup with ice and you end up with watered down iced tea. So this was perfect!Iced mocha- great bittersweet mocha. Not overly sweet and can still taste the coffee through it. Iced coffee- awesome! Definitely got a little caffeine jolt from it. They have a case of premade breakfast sandwiches, quiche, burritos, and pastries. We got the turkey sausage breakfast sandwich. Comes on an everything bagel so had great seasoning. They have cheese on the bagels but it isn't cooked, so it can be removed before that heat it up for you. They cook their sandwich on a panini press and had a great buttery crisp on the outside. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They only have 1 high chair so you better hope to snatch it if you need one.

I love this little coffee shop. They have a really good fresh Americano that I always get iced. The owner is super nice and really friendly and greets you every time he sees you. All. The staff is super sweet and everything is pretty quick, especially when you're on your way to class. I love the turkey croissant it's always filling. And I would definitely recommend this little coffee shop

Visited this cute coffee shop in the Curtis Land Park area. Always pass them on my way to Choc Fish but today I decided to stop in. I was drawn to their blue lavender latte that I saw on their social media page. Located off of 11th Ave. There's street parking right in front of their cafe, there's also parking for the small park across the way. So there's no reason to not stop in. Exterior is so cute with an outside patio to enjoy the morning/afternoon. The building reminds me of something you'd see in the background of a movie montage or somewhere in Europe. Although I've never been (to Europe) so you can be the judge of that. As I walked inside, there were already 2 tables filled up with the "regulars" . A family enjoying their Sunday morning and a table of old men having a meetup with friends. I love the feel & vibe of this cafe already. They have menus for food and a display case of so many different pastries. My only mission today was to get the latte but next time, I'm aiming for their food. The barista was busy from making the drinks, warming up the food but she still greeted me upon entry. Got my latte with oat milk and waited patiently for my drink but I was in no rush. As soon as my drink was ready, the barista was so sweet in letting me know if there's any adjustments needed, then to let her know. Normally, I don't need adjustments but it was thoughtful of her to say that. Not common but highly appreciated! While it is still available, I highly suggest coming into this coffee shop to try the blue lavender latte but also their other drinks (i.e., mocha, latte, cappuccino etc). Blue is for the added spirulina and the drink itself was perfect, not too sweet & not too floral either. While they have coffee, there's something for the tea lovers as well! Nice cafe with plenty of indoor & outdoor seating with great customer service. Adding them to my list of coffee shops to frequent.
