Roxy's Tacos has become my go-to spot in San Diego, nestled near the vibrant Gaslamp District. I stumbled upon this hidden gem over a year ago, and since then, it has never failed to impress.Let's start with the ambiance. While Roxy's may not have the upscale décor of some restaurants, its cozy and colorful setting creates a welcoming vibe. The lively chatter of satisfied diners adds to the authentic experience, making it a perfect spot to unwind and indulge in delicious street tacos.Speaking of which, Roxy's tacos are hands down the best in San Diego. The carne asada street tacos are a standout - perfectly grilled meat, fresh toppings, and just the right seasoning. Each bite is a burst of flavor, leaving you craving more. Whether you're a taco connoisseur or a newbie, Roxy's will exceed your expectations. What truly sets Roxy's apart is its exceptional service. The staff, from the friendly faces at the register to the attentive servers, goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Despite the occasional rush, the food is always served hot and fresh, reflecting their dedication to quality. In conclusion, Roxy's Tacos is a culinary gem that checks all the boxes - delicious food, inviting ambiance, and outstanding service. Whether you're a local looking for a regular haunt or a visitor seeking an authentic taste of San Diego, Roxy's is a must-visit destination that guarantees satisfaction.

I have been seeing this little hole in the wall and said why not. After reading all the great review I had to give it a shot. So I ordered the most mundane thing at a Mexican restaurant, the carne asada tacos. Have to say they were pretty good. The salsas was nice and spicy.

Roxy's Tacos is a small shop off of C Street in downtown San Diego. I had been wanting to try this place for a while but the lack of parking in the area really made it difficult to justify. Since I was down in the area for jury duty it was a perfect opportunity and, boy, I was not disappointed. When I arrived I was greeted enthusiastically by a young lady working behind the counter who was helping some other guests. It gave me an opportunity to look over the menu for a bit. When it was my turn I chose the Carne Asada Burrito and a single Birria Taco because I wanted to try their birria. I also ordered a Mexican Coke. They have three different salsas, a spicy red, a red and a green. When asked I just said I wanted to spicy and red but the employee asked if I wanted to try the green too so I said yes. When the food came out I immediately knew I ordered too much. The Birria Taco was a good size and had a really large portion of Birria on it. It comes in the traditional way with onions and cilantro. I am a bit of a Birria snob and was prepared not to like it but it was extremely flavorful and there wasn't a lot of fat like you find in some Birria. I was impressed and think it's the best one I've had outside of Mexico. The burrito was really large and the carne asada was tender and well marinated. Of the salsas my favorite ended up being the green which was another surprise as I typically don't love green salsas. In this one the flavor just really popped in your mouth and made my taste buds tingle. The spicy and the red ones were okay too but the green was the standout. I was told it was a family recipe from Mexico.I definitely recommend giving Roxy's a shot if you're in the area. It's delicious.

Welcoming service.Nice outdoor picnic area. That carne asada/shrimp taco? YUM! I could eat a half dozen of those! The pollo quesadilla? Eh, it would taste better with a different cheese, maybe pepper jack.Horchata, please. Interesting that they make and cup it...I'm accustomed to the rice/cinnamon stir right before getting it. It was good though.Don't walk down tenth, if avoiding homeless encampments. They're located on the Metro route.

Sometimes it's 5, and sometimes it's a 3.5-4. Today, it was just about a 3.5. The surf tacos are done perfectly every time. My biggest issue is the inconsistency of the burritos. Park on 8th, meters only.Attention: Trying to get Yelp to update their hours as they open at 8:30 now. They used to open at 7:15am, as I was the one who previously updated their hours. After showing up at 7:15am, and waiting about 20 minutes, there was no sign of opening, so off I went. Fast forward a few hours, and I was still craving a repeat of that awesome Roxy's "Mega" breakfast burrito I had a few days prior. Although it was a pretty fat and delicious burrito the other day, I say "mega" because it's truly not that mega. What makes it mega you might ask...well, it's the same as their regular breakfast burrito, but it comes with ham and bacon, instead of either or....mega??? I'm just giving food for thought, but perhaps "Mega" would make it a two tortilla monstrosity with double all the fixins'. Or maybe mega means it gets the two meats with added beans and sour cream. Or heck, maybe it's like a breakfast destroyer and comes with bacon, ham, and steak. Those are just my suggestions as a burrito that came in weighing under one pound, felt anything but mega. Today's burritos were smaller and they seemed to be lacking the flavor the one the other day had.Roxy's can deliver some really delicious and fresh tasting food, however sometimes they fall short of what they're capable of. A little more consistency and they'll be getting the recognition they deserve. Thanks Roxy's! We'll see you again.

Well deserving of all the praise heaped on it.About two city blocks from where we were staying near the Gaslamp quarter in Downtown San Diego, Roxys wasn't very busy when we stopped by for dinner around 5. We were greeted very warmly when we walked in. One orders and pays at the counter, and the menu is full of the classics. Credit card is accepted.-- 3 rolled tacos ($7.49): stuffed with shredded beef, guac, cheese and lettuce on the side.-- Carne Asada dinner plate ($13.49) - generous amount of well marinated carne asada (looked like flank steak to me). Came with really good tortillas (flour AND corn), rice and beans (both solid), and pico/lettuce. Easily made 3 large tacos with it...all the ingredients were fresh, not too greasy. There is outdoor seating on picnic tables, and the food will be delivered to you (you self bus). They also asked what kind of salsa we wanted (mild, green, and hot)..and I asked for mild and green. The server then came out with squeeze bottles filled with it (instead of the small single portions that restaurants in LA seemed to use during Covid and never left)...the salsa was good and I could put as much as I wanted...just loved that (thus didn't miss the salsa bar that they did not have).

Stopped into Roxys tacos while in town for a wedding. It's a cute little spot to come sit outside while you enjoy your meal. The lady at the counter was really nice. I ordered two quesabirria tacos but I didn't see any cheese on mine so maybe she thought I just wanted the birria tacos. I also wanted a side of consome but was told they didn't have any. Despite this, I felt the tacos were good and flavorful. However, Im not a person that likes fatty meat, so I had to keep spitting out the fatty parts and there was a lot of it.

For a hole in the wall place, it exceeds expectations. With so many 5-star reviews and my love of Mexican food, how could I resist? I made my way to this place not sure if it would live up to its reviews, but it sure did. Top to bottom they did a great job. There's little parking and few seats, but it's worth the trip.FOOD: Just wonderful. Had the fish tacos (both fried and not fried) and both were delicious. The homemade tortillas just made it complete. Had some fries to go along with it and although I don't normally like shoestring fries, these were cooked perfectly and I couldn't help myself. They were all gone.SERVICE: Impressive. The guy behind the counter was nice and welcoming. He offered his help and was engaging. The kitchen got the food out quickly and it was bigger than I expected. So tasty.COST: Excellent. Not just for what you get but overall very affordable and it happens to be delicious, too. Go here before everyone discovers it and you won't be able to get a seat.

Casual place for all your food needs from lunch-dinner. They have some of the best service I have ever had! Food: I am in love with their rolled tacos ! So crispy and yummy. Comes with beef or chicken. Have not personally had their street tacos yet but all my friends that I have gone with love it. Service: servers are always sooo nice, food comes out fast, and they make you feel right at home. They have a little outdoor patio area with some shade so if you don't prefer the sun they got ya! Perfect for taking your pups out.
