Roots Bowls

I returned to Roots Bowls and this time got the Purple Moon bowl (ube & white coconut base). It was super good, on the sweeter side than the North Park bowl I had the last time. That being said, I do think I prefer the North Park bowl more for its matcha flavor. If you're looking for something a bit more dessert-like, then the Purple Moon bowl is a good option. All the toppings go so well together. I would definitely recommend both the North Park bowl & purple moon bowl and would happily get either again.

We used to love this place and drive way out of our way to get acai here as it was my kiddos fave. I say used to because we will not be going back. Not only have prices been creeping up over the past few months, but now they are nickel and dime-ing like crazy. Guys in front of me - their bowl wasn't made the way they were expecting. The girl said that it had already been made so she won't remake it unless they pay for 2. I can't have strawberries and was asked if I wanted different fruit. The one I wanted is now an extra charge. I ordered the same thing I've been ordering for over a year and have never had an extra charge. Girl behind me was asked what other toppings she wanted. She answered and was told, oh, that's extra. If it's extra, why ask?!I didn't see any signs up about everything being an extra upcharge now.I explained this is frustrating and asked the person working if it could get back To management this is ridiculous. Her respo se was, you can try to call but managers are never here. So honestly- I'm never going back.

I came in today after a nice walk in Hillcrest as I had not been in here for quite a while Ias Ive been going to another Health place close by. I stopped in here to try a different juice.I did go to the website to check out their prices before I came. When it was time to pay for my carrot, beet, ginger juice it was not the price on the website. It was over a dollar more. I did mention this to the cashier and she said other people had also mentioned this and that the management needs to know. Well, here you go Manager. I also asked her if her wage went up and she said it did not. ;()Now, your employees will get tipped less. That is very unfortunate. Come on restaurant's, pay your employees more if you're going to gouge the public more. I won't be coming back.

Best acai bowl ive ever had. I absolutely love that you can create your own bowl here. They had so many base choices that you could choose from as well as a large variety of fruits, granola and toppings.I created my own bowl with the bases: matcha, acai, chia pudding, and mango.Fruits: pineapple, strawberry, blueberriesToppings: matcha powder and honey.Everything was so sweet and the flavors all melded together so perfectly. Would come again!

Don't come here if you want to want to avoid an Acai Bowl addiction. You've been warned. The bowls here are consistently well made and filled to the brim with ingredients. Til the very end, each bite can be combined with the ample acai and fruits. At other places I often have the acai turn into a watery smoothie and have never had that issue here. Great spot for people watching or grabbing a refreshing cool treat!

Best acai bowls in San Diego!! I love the flavor of the acai here, it's not too sweet and very refreshing. Personally I like to make my own bowl instead of getting the pre-menu ones! It's great that they have that though. Personally I would go for the medium size! It's only 1 dollar more so it's totally worth it. Parking kind of sucks on this street depending on when you go but there's some off side street parking that could be easier. It is on a popular street in hillcrest so there's a ton to do after you grab your bowl!

Golly! I am so glad my friend recommended this place. It reminds me alot of blue bowl in LA and if you know me, I love me blue bowl. Not as many toppings to chose from, but that's a good thing because blue bowl just gets crazier each time I return. $12 for a 12 oz is all you need! One thing that sets them apart from other places is the coco base. So good. I am already dreaming of it! The worker was loading the bowls up! Fruit on fruit. One of my friends even had her bowl placed into a food togo container (those brown ones for salads) and they added extra fruit for her. Super nice people! I can't wait for my return to San Diego! I love this place.

So let's start with appearance , this is a cute little spot on the street so just know there will always be cars going about. When I walked inside I was automatically greeted and the worker who helped me was so nice! 10/10 service. The food ..ok so I got avocado toast and it was really good along with the roots acai bowl and that was really good too! I decently enjoyed this place and will be back

I stumbled across this place while having an acai bowl craving and saw this place pop up! I'd say this place is my 2nd fav place after blue bowl. Very similar concept and they even have some unique bases such as matcha and ube! The toppings are more generic but they had the options you would normally find like 2-3 fruit options, different granolas, nut butters, various seeds/goji berries. Parking is on the street as its located in the main street in Hillcrest. Definitely walkable though!

Can't go wrong with Roots Bowl!!! The bowls are amazing and the flavor options are great. The toasts are good too! Service is always quick and portions are great. Knocked off one star because the prices are inconsistent and the tables/chairs can be pretty dirty.
