Yes, yes, and yes. I hope you get the beautiful soul known as Amy - she's witty and a true mixologist. She also made us feel so cozy and comfortable in the space we didn't leave until like 2am.Well lit speakeasy in Gaslamp/San Diego. Drinks are phenomenal- I had the I'm not drinking Merlot and the delicious sour - both were amazing but the delicious sour was me (on that day) in a glass tea cup - just perfection.Drink prices were pretty common for a speak easy and worth it!! So enjoy yourself and tip well. My friends got some other drinks I can't remember but they enjoyed themselves just as much as me!No food which is common for a speakeasy but you can get snacks outside.

I loved this speakeasy. Walk up to the second floor and grab a red book and have a seat. We didn't have reservations, but put our name on the waitlist and got a text 3 hours later so we came back to try it. To start they bring over a glass of champagne. I got an espresso martini and my bf had the old fashion. The menu is unique and has their own version and the version you would typically see. They also brought a card game over for us, which I loved for date night. The inside is super cute and intimate. The drinks were very good and service was great. Loved the chocolate covered pretzels you get at the end too! Def recommend!

My friend made reservations online for Room 56 on a Friday night just around 7pm. Just a note, eat before or after this experience, as there are no food options! Old pictures and reviews show that they used to, but they are serving only drinks here for now. Each person must order $40 minimum of drinks and there is also gratuity included. Once you enter the Moxy lobby and check in near the bookshelf door, the hostess will walk you down a flight of narrow stairs to get to the speakeasy. The atmosphere was not too dark, cozy, and subtle. There were fun cards with questions on the tables, perfect for a date night or just getting to know someone! Almost every drink was crafted aesthetically, and service was great all around. Do take some time to find the area as they are strict on reservation times. My choices of drinks were all from the cocktails section, but my favorite was Audrey's Backyard. The drinks were tasty and each had a nice presentation. I appreciated the staff recommendations and loved everything I tried!

We came on a Wednesday night with no reservations but we got lucky! We didn't have to wait long. Our hostess/server was so funny! She made the night memorable. We were seated at the bar and it was so cool watching the bartenders create all the drinks. So many cocktails to choose from! Our server also gave us a deck of cards which had questions which were fun to answer. Definitely coming back here for sure!

Best speakeasy ever! Great small touches and made us feel very welcome. Very unique experience in the best way and we loved our cocktails as well as the ambience. A must see in SD!

Booked a reservation on a Saturday night for three. This place is located inside of the Moxy hotel which has extremely trendy decor and a large bar in the lobby. We arrived early and sat at the bar for a drink. I had the Jay Gatsby, a gin based passion fruit flavored drink and it was delicious. They currently are making Valentine's Day inspired drinks and my friend ordered the "Lover"(Taylor Swift inspired). You enter 56 descending down into a basement like room. Dark accents are painted around a smoky atmosphere and it feels very sophisticated. All the drinks we had were delicious and I highly recommend the clover club. FYI, there is a 40 dollar minimum per person.

This was such a gorgeous speakeasy but I'm giving it 1 star because the service was HORRIBLE. We waited over 45 minutes for one drink. They did not come to take our order for 20 minutes. The drinks were okay 5/10 but the wait really killed the vibe. The server was not nice and had a bad attitude. They also tack on a 22% service charge at the end, which I thought was really unfair. Bad service and I still get charged 22%? No thanks!

This was cool little speakeasy was inside the Moxy hotel. SERVICE: Our host was super friendly. Made a lot of jokes (my kinda host) and got us seated pretty quickly. She explained the menu well and got us on our way to our drinkies in no time at all.DRINKS: They offer a lot of cool drinks. My friend tried the Kookaburra. (Picture) and said it was great. I had the old fashioned and it was very tasty as well.If you can figure out how to get in? Go give them a try.

We spent one night at the Moxy Hotel so when we learned there was a sexy speakeasy tucked in the corner we decided we needed to make this our NYE celebration spot. There was no extra cover charge, the only thing they ask is that there is a $40 minimum per person and 22% gratuity is automatically added - which I think is standard there, no matter what the day is.You have to follow the instructions to be let in but once you've made it down the steep spiral staircase (ladies with heels - beware!) you'll find yourself in a cute, tiny bar. The vibe is sexy and sophisticated. The menu is long and well-organized and the music was big band and jazzy. The drinks are strong and well balanced. We sat at the bar for a while and watching the bartenders make some of the cocktails was so interesting. They were both clearly skilled at what they do. They were also super friendly and answered questions regarding tastes and ingredients honestly. Also, when I wanted to switch from cocktails to just prosecco, they didn't shame me the way other speakeasy's have a way of doing if you order anything other than their special drinks. They really made our special night even more special. If you're tired of the 20-something Gaslamp vibe, definitely try this place out.

f you are really looking for a true speakeasy experience this is the place to check out. From the greeting to your seating it's a wow moment. The ambience, the low music in the background, to the very well put together drink menu this place has it all. If you are a classic cocktail enthusiast your pallet is up for a treat. Ben and Amy are extremely knowledgeable with cocktail history and know how to make really good drinks. If you wanted to try out a cocktail that you may have seen online or heard of this is the place to go try it. The negroni sour was amazing that I got, a riff on an original negroni. Talking with Ben at the bar and nerdiing out about cocktails he recommended one drink that coincidentally has been on my list to try which was an Eeyore's Requiem. If you are into gin and bitters this is a must have. This speakeasy is a place you need to go and checkout next time you are looking for a cool date night spot. Epic experience.
