So we were recommended this as a walkable new bar from our hotel, and man this would be a great advice as a seperate San Diego trip! The place just opened not long ago so it was buzzing but somehow already complete and comfortable. The setting was kind of dark, supposed to be an homage to the Roma Norte neighborhood of Mexico city, kinda makes me want to visit. Waiting for the drinks we checked it and might make a visit.S and I rarely get date nights and we were planning only one drink, but....I ordered the nitro punch (always a sucker for car stuff and puns) and really enjoyed it.S ordered the fig leaf old fashioned. It had a cute drawing in the menu and whistlepig so heck yeah. I was skeptical about it, but the fig really added to it instead of a gimmick. The cup was cute but a challenge to drink from. We quickly realized that small but strong was the concept here so we ordered the some foof. S got the scallop crudo. Usually I am a bit wierd with the scallop texture, but the preparation was solid and they ate soft but sweet without any rubber-ness.I got the veal torte and it was crispy ripple of panko goodness, plus the mole tartar. The veal was better, and best of all, neither was gluten free so I didn't have to share.Kevan came back after to check on us and we got chatting, and ended up with the maduro highball in front of us. I never checked the menu, so not sure what it was besides fire. We could have stayed all night, and next time (if we are ever back in SD) we might, but we had an early day. Plus even though well past our bedtime, business was building so we made our departure.Thank you Roma Norte, we will return!

Roma Norte is an upscale cocktail bar adjacent to Puesto at The Headquarters at Seaport Village. The complex used to be the home of San Diego Police Headquarters hence the legacy moniker. The business was named after a district in Mexico City that is popular with young professionals. I had difficulty finding this spot as it was appended to the southwestern corner of Puesto. Parking in Seaport Village was all metered or pay by QR code for most of the day. Enforcement ends or tapers after 8 pm which was helpful. The space was darkly lit featuring a central bar along the back of the room which had a dozen seats. That was where I sat because most of the tables were occupied when I arrived. I only wanted to try some of the food here. There were five choices on one of the pages inside the menu booklet... four savory offerings and churros. I picked the Scallop Tostada to start my meal. The scallop was garnished with avocado, finger lime, serrano, sweet onion, and cilantro. For the $14 price tag, it was expensive for one tostada which did have a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. The Carne Crudo was my second item. The bowl contained diced prime hanger steak, birria spiced aioli, pickled shimeji, sunflower seeds, pomegranate, and radish sprouts. A serving of tortilla chips was provided to scoop up the mixture. Again, I was underwhelmed by the portion size for the price ($16). To have only five food items on the menu was a disappointment. I expected a greater variety because of the connection to Puesto which was already known for its high priced Mexican fare.If you are into cocktails and are looking for a late night option in this part of downtown, then this new place might become your hot spot. The ambiance and service were both acceptable, however the food I tasted kept my rating of Roma Norte at a three star level.

Nice small intimate place, it reminds me of a speakeasy, the bar is attached to puesto restaurant. Service was good, they give you warm towels when you first sit down to clean your hands , then they give you a complimentary bar snack. Drinks are good, pricey. It took about 20-25 mins for us to receive our drinks. We went to celebrate our anniversary and they gave us complimentary churros. Great experience

Our server Tai was fantastic. So attentive, informative and friendly! The bites and cocktails were Devine, transported me back to cdmx for sure. Highly recommend trying the veal torta, steak crudo and yellowfin.... Tiny bites but hit the spot. The churros need some major work, they're missing the true crispiness of a true Mexican churro but the sauce that comes on the side is tasty. This spot has a speakeasy vibe with nice music, dim lighting and although the cocktails have a high price point for some, they're worth every penny!

Checked out Roma Norte for their opening night. Great ambiance and conveniently located next to Puesto. The cocktails were delicious, although it took nearly 25 minutes for us to get our first drinks. The second one came much more quickly. We tried two of the small plates which were divine. I'm excited to check this place out again in a few months when some of the service kinks have been worked out. Definitely put it on your list if you're a craft cocktail enthusiast!

We heard this establishment just opened yesterday. My friend and i went to the bathroom and when we came back to our table my boyfriend and friend said the manager went to our table and stated a coworker named Melissa stated that my friend and i were vomiting in the bathroom. The Manager very unprofessional when i spoke to him (who made him manager) the first thing i said to him was who said these accusations i would like to speak to her , and just like predicted he came back and stated she was off the clock. I still would like to speak to this employee who stated that two people were vomiting in the bathroom it's distributing, unprofessional the protocol needs more training and for all of that it's really not worth your money or time .

The cocktails were amazing! And so were the appetizers! I had the fig leaf old fashioned & the habanero margarita, both were delicious and appreciated how I could choose the spiciness level of the margarita with the eye dropper! The scallop and tuna tostadas were the perfect compliment. Afterwards, we headed over to the bar at Puesto HQ next door to get tacos (and another cocktail). Will definitely be back because there are more drinks I want to try!

Watch out San Diego!! You can really tell the thought and prep that goes into each cocktail and dish. True attention to detail, especially in their service! My favorite cocktails were the Habanero Marg and Huacatay Southside! Also, the food was top notch. We had the Torta and Carne Crudo - so flavorful and fresh. Had a nice moody vibe inside too! Excited to go back to try more.

Roma Norte has the best cocktail program in San Diego. I had the best old fashioned I've ever had (fig leaf) and the best cocktail I've ever had - their highball. And I don't usually drink highballs. The food is exceptional as well and the service is outstanding. Staff is so attentive and take great care of you. Do yourself a favor and try this place out.
