Roji Monster Ice Cream

This is a really cute dessert shop on University Way, and if you're looking for something adorable, unique, and Instagrammable, this is the spot for you. The owners are very sweet people and the cashiers do their best to provide good service. The interior is decorated like something out of a Miyazaki movie, and it creates a cute ambiance to hang out with your friends. My boyfriend and I ordered the Thai Iced Tea flavored shaved ice, along with chocolate chips and mini doriyaki as toppings to accompany. When our order arrived, we were surprised at how small the portion size was! The spoon in the photo attached is for scale, and this is just a normal-sized spoon. The price of the ice cream seemed reasonable for a shared dessert, but the portion size was only really fit for one person. It also only tasted okay, but I was expecting a lot better given the price of the portion. It tasted kinda bland and somehow watered down? The eyes were a cute touch though!Overall, it's fun to go for the gimmick and the photos, but not so much for the taste or quality.

I was really looking forward to trying this place out. The photos of the cute monster shaved ice cream popped up every so often on my social media pages and I would save them with excitement! The experience of ordering your shaved ice cream is quite fun. You take a small piece of paper and then stamp your choice of ice cream flavor and toppings that you would like on the side. However, the overall taste of the desserts was quite mediocre. The flavors for both the ice cream and the monster waffle were fairly bland. The ice cream tasted a bit watered down and there was supposed to be Oreo in our waffle, but I saw some specks, but didn't really taste much of it. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this place, as both desserts were fairly pricey and the taste just wasn't there. But if you're in the area and want to take cute aesthetic pictures, then it's a nice place to drop in at.

This place is so cute!!!! I walked by this place a lot and didn't realize it was there, but we decided to try it on a whim. The flavors were so fresh, I really loved the thai tea and matcha. Definitely hope to come back! The workers were nice too, it's a cute little cafe and fun for a cold treat.

Cute concept! Main idea is shaved ice that looks like a monster. We ordered a thai tea shaved ice, which came topped with two candy eyes. The shaved ice also came with mochi, grass jelly, and another green tea ice cream. Was a bit pricey, but the monster shaved ice is very instagrammable!

These ice cream are not just for the looks but the taste was very nice as well. The texture was comfortable on the palate and the flavours were prominent. The black sesame was particularly rich and tasty. The thai milk tea was the seasonal feature and it was delicate and refreshing.The garnishes were great accompaniments and tasted fresh, especially the taro/yam balls which were chewy and plump.

How cute are these desserts? The little candy googly eyes and the old school stamp feature are such nice details. I would come back here just for the adorable character.I was contemplating between the soft serve and shaved ice... I went for the Milk Shaved Ice and shared with another person. For the two complimentary sides, we got the honeycomb and salty cherry jelly... I DO NOT recommend the salty cherry jelly. They are not joking when they say salty!!! The shaved ice itself was very pleasant and had a nice texture to it. I would love to try the shaved ice with other flavors!

Solid shave ice. Lots of flavors and toppings. Popped in around 6pm, empty shop so we didn't have to wait long. Service was friendly and helpful. We got the black sesame and oolong shave ice, flavors were strong and mega delicious, not too icy. The hojicha jelly was super soft and flavorful, one of the best bites. Mochi was super chewy, corn flakes were mega crunchy (verge of hard). Great experience.

Super aesthetic, great place to chill with free wi-fi, and cute desserts you won't find anywhere else with loads of customization options for toppings and flavor combonations with the shaved ice. However the flavor and texture of the shaved ice and its toppings leave something to be desired, certainly something to eat and enjoy but no wow factor or anything impressive and I found the specific shaved pieces texture to not be for me compared to more classical south-east asian shaved ice formats like form korea/taiwan/japan that I prefer from local spots like kakigori dessert cafe.It's in a great location though and highly recommend the nearby itadakimasu for the best teriyaki in the city.Parking is always a tough situation in this area but there are a few parking lots nearby that are a bit tight.

Do not come here. Don't waste your time or money.I ordered a sesame soft serve with mochi and Oreo bits. I kid you not, it took about 15-20 minutes.. for soft serve! She apologized for the wait and said the soft serve machine wasn't working. After all that waiting, soft serve was grainy and disgusting. I barely had 2 bites. You'd think they'd just give me my money back, especially because it was so overpriced and wasted my time!

Came here just craving a sweet treat and it did the job. I guess this is the kind of place you'd hear about where the food looks great but the taste was meh. It's definitely more of a photo op than it is a dessert. Everything's decorated with Googly Eyes and it's quite cute, but I would have loved for the dessert to have been cute and delicious. It would have been nice for it to have come with condensed milk. Instead, we were given two toppings that didn't really mix well with the ice cream anyway. Also I asked for soft serve but they told me the machine was broken it felt like going to mcdonalds in my childhood :') the service was great though! The worker that manned everything was really sweet and got me another topping right away.
