One of the few restaurants, I found authentic Jamaicans who spoke the language. As a Jamaican myself, it was comforting to meet another one of us.The food was just as my mother would prepare it!Top notch! Loved the curry goat, how tender it was, falling off the bone; how Shelly and well seasoned the rice and peas was. The place was clean and fresh, they had authentic dancehall and reggae (Jamaican music) playing there. They had Jamaican tin food that you could buy and go home and cook as well for all the chefs out there.Best Jamaican restaurant I've been to out of all the states I've been to

Rock Steady Jamaican Food is awesome! I had the oxtails and jerk chicken, and both were super tasty and packed with flavor. The portions were generous, and the prices were pretty reasonable. The vibe here is really laid-back and casual, perfect for chilling and enjoying some good food. They have great Jamaican sodas that go perfectly with the meal. The welcoming atmosphere just adds to the experience. This place is definitively worth checking out. It won't disappoint!

Ordered the large curried goat which tasted great but wasn't given much meat. Also there was no plantain which is listed on the menu. No heads up nothing. Just given so much rice in lieu. Ordered a beef patty too but it was hard and most likely from the day before. Asked if I wanted to leave a tip and said yes. Was not asked for an amount and when I got my statement it looks like a $7 tip was added!!! $30 for these two items... not worth the price, especially the tip when you're not given much meat or plantain...

Good food I eat here once a month. I moved here from Fla so I really miss eating West Indian food. I come here to get my fixed from time to time I would recommend it.

Food was great! The curried shrimp was good I tried my partners. I Had the jerk chicken and it had the right amount of spice and flavor. Also the portion was large. Service time was about average but not fast if you're in a hurry. Cute spot that has an outdoor patio that looks like they have events or music sometimes.

I've ordered take out from here 5x I've tried other Jamaican spots but these flavors are unmatched. If you love spice this is the place to go! I've had their beef patty and extremely flavor packed, moist, and a crunchy exterior. Absolutely delicious! I recommend this place if you want some good jerk chicken. Im not a big fan of their macaroni in the platters but I've only ever got it once.

One of my favorite places in San Diego for Jamaican/Caribbean style food. You can tell they really put love into their food. Everything taste so homey and portions are huge. We got two combo plates (large size only). The oxtail and curried goat were hands down the best items ordered. Again, portions are HUGE and they do not skimp out. If you're ever in the area you have to try this place out

I had a craving so I hopped in my car and headed to Rock Steady. Parking was a little tricky but as long as everyone is courteous you will get in and parked. My order was taken in good time and I enjoyed watching them cook in the kitchen. So much so that I ordered an extra vegetable side; they looked so yummy getting tossed as they were made fresh. My food took approximately 10 minutes to make and I wandered over to the little shop and grabbed a bottle of matouk's. I usually order it on Amazon but it was cheaper here. Score! The outside deck is nicely decorated and if I was here with a friend I would have certainly eaten my food outside. They have music playing and on the deck it is good. It was a little loud inside but they turned it down when they realized they couldn't hear anyone speaking. Probably just had it up for the good song on at the moment. I got home and ate probably one third of my food. The rice and beans really reminded me of Sunday dinners at my best friends house. They hit the mark. The vegetables were delicious and personally I like to mix them up with my rice and beans. The Mac and cheese was different with the rotini but not bad at all. I ate all of it standing up as I made my plate. The festival was perfect and used it to sop up the extra jerk sauce. The plantain was not cooked the way I prefer, but of course I ate the whole thing and used it to soak up some sauce. The jerk chicken did not come to play. It was fabulous. So many times on this coast I get a version of jerk chicken that's lightly dusted with spices or gently rubbed with seasonings. This was not that. This was cooked as it was meant to be reminding me of flavors I have had in Jamaican homes and on the island itself. This was exactly what I needed to fulfill that craving. I was able to enjoy my food over the course of two days and the chicken reheated well in my air fryer.I obviously will be back. Thanks!

The service here is amazing. I ordered the Jamaican jerk chicken and the oxtails. Both are seasoned perfectly and cooked very well.
